Dulquer Salmaan excels over Mohanlal in satellite rights
After a dry spell of almost a month, thetares are back to full swing with all the new releases doing good business. Jomonte Suvisheshangal starring Dulquer Salmaan was the first to hit screens on January 19 followed by Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol on 20.
Both the movies opened to good response from the family audience. Dulquer once gain proved his crowd pulling ability by registering the non Pulimurugan record for the highest grosser in Kerala. The young star has once again bettered Mohanlal in the satellite rights price.
While Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was brought by Surya TV for an amount of Rs 5.80 crore, Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal was brought by Mazhavil Manorama for a whopping 6.10 crores. The movie has thus entered the top league of actors with high satellite values. Mohanlal, Mammootty and family audience favourite Dileep are the top three actors in the list.
Jomonte Suvisheshangal’s huge business shows the impact of Dulquer Salmaan among the family audience as well. Earlier his fan base was mostly confined to the youngsters but with the release of this movie directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, he has widened his fan base to audience of all the age groups.
Jomonte Suvisheshangal was a story about a rich businessman and his family. Once the business fails, all he is left with his youngest son who through hard work wins back their properties. After the release of the movie, there were remarks about the similarities in the plots between Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Nivin Pauly’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam, but all that didn’t have any effect on the audience count as families are still thronging to theatres in large numbers.
According to trade experts, Jomonte Suvisheshangal is expected to continue it’s good run in the coming weeks also.
