Dulquer Salmaan and Nivin Pauly influenced the award committee?

In a shocking revelation, veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, whose biography Khullam Khulla will release soon, mentioned during an interview that he had bought the Film Fare Best Actor award way back in 1973. Many actors in the past have been accused of influencing the jury members for their favour but not many have admitted it in open.

Sajin Baabu, an independent filmmaker from Mollywood updated a post in his official Facebook account sharing the link for Rishi Kapoor’s news and adding a title, “years down the lane, will Dulquer Salmaan and Nivin Pauly admit something like this?”

Every year when the State awards are announced, controversies are bound to happen over their selection. Nivin Pauly won the best actor award in 2014 while Dulquer Salmaan won the award next year. The former won the award for his performance in I983 and Bangalore Days. The jury members faced a lot of backlash for their selection that year. Similar was the situation next year when Dulquer won the award for his performance in Charlie.

But we don’t believe that these youngsters have influenced the committe in many manner. Plainly because both these performances were worthy of the awards. Nivin Pauly’s Rameshan in 1983 was a journey of a man from his teenage to his 40s. The actor gave his career best performance in the movie. His performance as the naïve and innocent Kuttan in Bangalore Days was also appreciated unanimously.

Charlie was a very complex character to enact. There were lot of hidden emotions in the movie and Dulquer fitted the bill perfectly.

Any award is a motivation for the actors to strive hard and get better. It is a result of their hard work and perseverance. So, it is praiseworthy for the youngsters to bag the State Award so early in their career.
