Revathi to direct Amala Paul in Queen Malayalam remake
Veteran actress Revathi is gearing up for next directorial venture in Malayalam, which is the remake of Bollywood blockbuster movie Queen. The movie wil star Amala Paul in the lead role reprising Kangana Ranaut’s role from the original.
Queen, directed by Vikas Bahl, is widely regarded as the one of the best women empowerment movies ever in Indian cinema. Kangana Ranaut’s portrayal of Rani in the movie won her accolades from all quarters along with a National Award and the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Amala Paul has got big shoes to fill in and it will be a challenging role for the dusky beauty. Revathi has proved as a mettle as a director with her very first movie itself. Her debut work- Mitr, My Friend in English won the National award for best feature film in English. In Malayalam, she has previously directed a segment, Makal in the anthology Kerala Cafe.
Amala Paul recently shared screen space with Revathi in the critically acclaimed movie Amma Kanakku, the remake of superhit Bollywood movie Nil Battey Sannatta. She is also acting in Jayaram’s multistarrer Achayans directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam.

Revathi is also directing the Tamil version of Queen which stars Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead. Actress Suhasini Maniratnam is writing the dialogues for this movie.
