Udhayanidhi Stalin to remake Happy Wedding in Tamil
Noted Tamil actor Udhayanidhi Stalin is currently awaiting the release of Nimir, which is the remake of National award winning Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram. Priyadarshan is helming the Tamil version which is slated to release on January 26, the Republic Day.
Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi has committed for yet another remake of a Malayalam movie. He will be starring in the Tamil version of director Omar Lulu’s 2016 hit film Happy Wedding. The news was broken by the director himself who shared a photo taken with Udhayanidhi in his official Facebook page. When one of his followers asked about the purpose of visit, he confirmed about the remake.
Happy Wedding had Siju Wilson, Sharafudheen and Soubin Shahir in the lead roles. It is a full on fun entertainer revolving around a bunch of youngsters. Taking everyone by surprise, it emerged as a sleeper hit and enjoyed a theatrical run of over 100 days. Made on a shoestring budget, the movie reaped huge profits for the producer.
It looks like Omar Lulu himself will be directing the Tamil version. An official announcement with details regarding the cast and other crew members is expected to be made very soon. Meanwhile, the director is currently busy shooting for his teenage love story ‘Oru Adaar Love’, which went on floors earlier this week.
