Nivin Pauly’s Tamil film gets a title
We had earlier reported about Nivin Pauly’s upcoming Tamil movie directed by Gautham Ramachandran. This upcoming bilingual made in Tamil and Malayalam is the official remake of Kannada superhit Ulidavaru Kandanthe.
The movie was tentatively titled as Santa Maria, but now the title has been changed to Avargal. The Malayalam version will still have the title Santa Maria. Title for the Tamil verison was changed from Santa Maria to Avargal for tax exemption purposes.
Avargal has popular cinematographer/actor Natarajan Subramanian aka Natty and Rakshit Shetty playing the lead roles along with Nivin Pauly.
The movie also stars Ashok Selvan, Shraddha Srinath, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, Prakash Raj etc essaying pivotal characters.
This is Nivin Pauly’s third film after the bilingual Neram and a small part he played in the anthology Avial (Eli segment).
After the sensational success of Premam, the actor became hugely popular among the Tamil audience especially the youngsters. He has also signed for some other projects in Tamil, one under director Atlee’s debut production and another movie Suriya Balakrishna.
Rumours are also doing the rounds that Gautham Vasudev Menon is in talks with Nivin Pauly for the Tamil remake of the Telugu blockbuster Pelli Choopulu, the remake rights for which was acquired by the director recently.
Nivin Pauly’s next releases in Malayalam will be Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela which he is also producing and Sakhavu directed by Sidhartha Siva.
