Singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi engaged
Popular singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s engagement with Santhosh was held in Vijayalakshmi’s home in Vaikom yesterday. Sathosh is also a musician hailing from Puthiyangadi. The marriage is fixed for March 29 next year.
The talented singer’s mother has said that the marriage was fixed after a matrimonial advertisement given in news papers. She added that the marriage is finally happening after lot of prayers.
Vaikom Vijayalakshmi did not let her blindness affect her music. She first stormed into the playback singing arena with the song “Kaate Kaate” from director Kamal’s Celluloid. The song won her a Special Jury Mention in the Kerala State Award for the year 2012.
The following year she won the Kerala State Award for best singer for the song “Ottaku Paadunna” again from director Kamal’s Nadan.
Vaikom Vijayalakshmi is popular not only in Kerala. She has sung for popular composers from other industries also like Santhosh Narayanan, GV Prakash, Imman etc.
She is also an expert in a rare instrument, Gayatriveena. She has sung in 5 different languages- Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Sanskrit
Vaikom Vijayalakshmi has rendered popular numbers in superhit South Indian movies like Vijay’s Theri, Suriya’s Masss, Jayam Ravi’s Romeo Juliet, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali etc.
Vaikom Vijayalakshmi is known for her unique voice and her ability to add certain notes for different tunes. The wedding song which she sung along with Rimi Tomy in the recent superhit movie Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan is also a chart buster.
