CIA continues to do decent business in Ernakulam multiplexes
Dulquer Salmaan starrer CIA aka Comrade In America continues to garner good response from the audience. The movie, directed by Amal Neerad was long in the making before it finally hit screens on May 5.
CIA opened to good response from the audience, largely comprising of Dulquer’s fans. The critic reviews were mostly mixed but that didn’t stop the movie from grossing Rs 3.09 crores on the opening day, from the Kerala box office alone.
According to the reports from trade sources, CIA has grossed Rs 9.70 crores from the first four days of it’s theatrical run. From the Ernakulam multiplexes, CIA has raked in around Rs 58 lakhs.
The figures suggest a great opening for CIA considering the mixed reviews and it’s release amidst the Baahubali storm that has swept the country. The gross collections of CIA from Kerala and outside centres is nearing Rs 15 crores.
CIA, written by Pavaada fame Shibin Francis is about an young comrade’s journey through adverse conditions to the US without Visa for his girlfriend. Debutante Karthika Muraleedharan played the female lead in the movie. Siddique, John Vijay, Jinu John, Chandini Sreedharan, Mala Parvathy, Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothen have essayed other supporting characters.
Gopi Sunder has handled the music department while Amal Neerad’s associate Renadive cranked the camera. The movie is bank rolled by the director’s own company Amal Neerad Productions.
