Tovino Thomas replaces Dulquer Salmaan in Salim Ahamed’s next?
Last year, renowned filmmaker Salim Ahamed had announced that his next movie will be about the world of cinema. First look poster of the movie titled as ‘And The Oscar Goes To’ was released in his social media handle on the very day the 89th Academy Awards were given away. Even though he didn’t formally announce the cast and crew, our sources within the industry informed that the director was in talks with young star Dulquer Salmaan.
The latest we hear is that Dulquer has opted out of the project owing to his busy schedule. As per reports, Tovino Thomas has replaced Dulquer in this project. Tovino, who has been very wise with his script selection so far, has often expressed his interest to be part of movies with fresh themes. From the intriguing title itself, Salim Ahamed’s new movie promises to be unique.
And The Oscar Goes To is reportedly about an inspiring story of someone trying hard to make it to the world of cinema. Shoot for the movie will be commencing in Canada later this year. An official announcement with details regarding the whole cast and crew is expected to be made by the makers very shortly.
Salim Ahamed is a filmmaker well known for extracting the best out of his actors. His debut movie, Adaminte Makan Abu had Salim Kumar in the lead role and the latter on to win the National Award for best actor that year. It was also chosen as India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Film category in the 84th Academy Awards. His other two movies – Kunjananthante Kada and Pathemari – were with Mammootty. Both the movies found appreciation critical appreciation with Pathemari also winning the National Award for best feature film in Malayalam in the year 2015. It will be interesting to see how Tovino adapts himself to a Salim Ahamed movie.
