Drama deals with a theme which hasn’t been narrated in Malayalam before: Baiju
As we already know, Mohanlal and a director Ranjith are coming together for a movie titled ‘Drama’. Drama is said to be a fun entertainer that is anything unlike Mohanlal-Ranjith combo’s previous films. The duo is well known for their mass entertainers but Drama is be a film without any superstar elements. Ranjith has scripted it as a feel-good movie with good dose of humour, sentiments and family drama.
Baiju Santhosh, who is playing a crucial role in the movie also has the same opinion. In a recent interview to DC, he affirmed that Drama’s theme has not been tried before in Malayalam. He also added that the audience will get to see the lively old Mohanlal in the movie. About Drama, Baiju is quoted saying,
“The movie deals with a theme which hasn’t been narrated in Malayalam. It’s a pucca humour movie and I’m sure it will have audience in splits. Lalettan and I are colleagues and we work for a Malayali boss. It’s after some years that he is doing a freewheeler. Everyone will see the old Lalettan in this. My character is also prominent. The shooting location was relaxed as if we were on a college tour.”
Drama’s story is set entirely in the UK. The movie revolves around a middle-aged couple. Mohanlal plays the role of Rajasekharan aka Raju while Asha Sarath will be seen as his wife Rekha. The cast also has Arundhathi Nag, Niranj Maniyan Pilla Raju, Siddique, Dileesh Pothan, Shyamaprasad, Kaniha, Subi Suresh, Renji Panicker, Shalin Zoya and Tini Tom in supporting roles.
MK Nassar and Maha Subair are jointly producing Drama under the banners of Lilypad Motion Pictures and Varnachithra Good Line Productions. The movie is all set to hit screens on November 1, Kerala Piravi Day. The makers have how informed that the first look will be released on Monday (October 1) through Mohanlal’s official Facebook page.
