Fahadh Faasil eyes a hattrick with Kumbalangi Nights
Fahadh Faasil had a rewarding 2018 earning a couple of big hits under his belt. On a personal level, the year also got him the prestigious National award for best supporting actor (Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, which got released in 2017). Last year, out of his three releases – ‘Carbon’, ‘Varathan’ and ‘Njan Prakashan’ – the latter two were hugely successful at the box office. Though ‘Carbon’ managed to earn critical acclaim it failed to click commercially. However, the other two films made up for that especially ‘Njan Prakashan’ which is still running in several centres across the state.
Eyeing a hattrick of hits, Fahadh is all set to start 2019 with ‘Kumbalangi Nights’. The movie reunites him with Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothan, with whom he has previously collaborated for the National award winning films ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ and ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’. The trio are jointly producing ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ under the banners of Working Class Hero and Fahadh Faasil and Friends.
‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is directed by Madhu C Narayanan and scripted by Syam Pushkaran. The movie has Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, newcomer Mathew Thomas and Fahadh in major roles. According to the makers, is a modern family drama set in Kumbalangi, a suburb in the city of Kochi. Soubin, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi and Mathew Thomas play brothers in the movie while Fahadh Faasil will be seen in a negative role.
Expectations are high for the movie considering the team’s previous hits. Trailer, songs and the interestingly promos have all been super impressive and caught the audience attention. Let’ wait and see if Fahadh manages to secure a hattrick of hits.
