Vikram is Aditya Karikalan in Ponniyin Selvan
The first part of the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ gears up for release on September 30, 2022. As announced by the makers themselves, they have started the promotions. In the first round, posters of all major characters in the film are planned to be revealed. A new poster introducing Vikram as Aditya Karikalan has just been released. Sporting long hair and beard, the actor looks royal riding a horse.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor, Raja Raja Chola I. Jayam Ravi plays the titular role. The cast also includes Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram Prabhu, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Kishore, Jayaram, Rahman, Lal and Ashwin Kakumanu.

Mani Ratnam has adapted the screenplay along with Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. Music is by AR Rahman and Ravi Varman cranks the camera. The big-budget period epic is produced by Mani Ratnam’s own banner Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
