Congress leader PC Vishnunadh against Oru Mexican Aparatha
Tovino Thomas highly anticipated campus political drama Oru Mexican Aparatha is releasing tomorrow in around 80 theatres in Kerala. The movie comes in with a baggage of expectations after the promo song and trailer was well received in social medias.
Congress leader and former MLA PC Vishnunadh has taken a dig at the movie and the politics it discusses in his latest Facebook post.
He has written that Oru Mexican Aparatha is a masala film that is fuelled with commercial gimmicky, and that it cannot be compared with some quality movies of the same genre, that have previously released in Malayalam cinema. In his post, he has written in detail about the history of student politics in Kerala and how Kerala Students Union (KSU) paved way for many changes in the educational system of Kerala.
He has written, “We will have to wait and watch whether Oru Mexican Aparatha discusses about the current political situation in campuses and about the plight of students in private colleges. If the movie follows a formulaic masala route instead of focusing on such issues, it will thrown to trash by the audience.”
He mentioned Vetrimaran’s Visaranai as the best political drama in recent times. He felt that it is a sin if movies like Oru Mexican Aparatha with fake politics with historical blunders, is released in the same time period as Visaranai. He also alleged that SFI is in a dire situation in Kerala after supporting the principal in the Law Academy issues and the recent moral policing incidents and that the movie will do no good for their lost image.
Oru Mexican Aparatha is written and directed by debutant Tom Emmatty. The movie stars Tovino Thomas, Neeraj Madhav, Roopesh Peethambaran, Gayathri Suresh and Kalabhavan Shajon in major roles. From the trailer we can make out that Tovino and Neeraj represent the left front while Roopesh, Kalabhavan Shajon and others represent the opposition. To avoid controversies, the makers have changed the names of the political parties to SFY and KSQ.
