High hopes for Sakhavu : Nivin Pauly

Nivin Pauly is currently on a break for Christmas to spend some quality time with his family. The actor has been having a packed schedule for the past few months juggling from one set to another.

He was acting in two movies simultaneously in Malayalam, debutant Althaf’s family entertainer Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela and National award winning director Siddhartha Siva’s Sakhavu.

The actor in a recent interview said that he is pinning high hopes on Sakhavu. Sakhavu is a political drama in which Nivin will play Krishna Kumar, a student political leader of the Left front.

According to the actor, Sakhavu is an intense film. It will be the kind of movie that will stay etched with the audience even after coming out of the cinema halls.

Siddhartha Siva’s previous few movies have been off-beat works that were critically appreciated. Nivin said, before listening to the script, he thought it would also fall in a similar category. But the perception was changed after the narration.

He said, the movie has a lot of potential and that the viewers will love the character. Sakhavu is not plainly a political drama. It will have equal amounts of humour, romance and machismo. Nivin has been taking a lot of time shooting for the film.

Shoot for Sakhavu commenced right after the release of Nivin’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam earlier this year. The team have been shooting the movie in schedules with one phase at a time.

In between that, shooting got stalled due to financial issues caused by the demonetisation move by the government. They are currently shooting in Peerumedu, Idukki. Another 30 day schedule of the movie is yet to be finished.

Sakhavu has a star studded cast. Jamna Pyari fame Gayathri Suresh, Aparna Gopinath and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh are playing the female leads in the movie. Aparna Gopinath is playing Neeti, a bold student activist from JNU Delhi. Sreenivasan, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Joju George and many other actors are also part of the movie.

Popular cinematographer from Kollywood, George C Williams is cranking the camera while Prashanth Pillai is handling the music department. The movie is produced by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema.
