Joy Mathew to direct Dulquer Salmaan in a political thriller
After the widely acclaimed ‘Shutter’, Joy Mathew is set to team up with Dulquer Salmaan for a political thriller. Joy Mathew is currently working on the script and shoot will be commencing in January 2020. Dulquer’s own banner Wayfarer Films will be associated with the production. Pre-production works are still progressing after which an official announcement will be made.
Joy Mathew’s directorial debut ‘Shutter’ was a critically acclaimed film that got screened at several international film festivals. It was also remade in six Indian languages. The film showcased the moral hypocrisies in Kerala’s patriarchal society. He followed it up with a similar themed ‘Uncle’, that had Mammootty in the lead. Joy Mathew penned the script and it was directed by Gireesh Damodar. The film won the Kerala State Award for best story.
It will be interesting to see how Joy Mathew directs Dulquer Salmaan, who enjoys a huge fan following among the youth. The star is currently shooting simultaneously for ‘Kurup’ and Anoop Sathyan’s untitled film co-starring Shobhana, Suresh Gopi and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Both these films are also produced under his banner.
