KGF star Yash to donate Rs 1.50 crore to Kannada film fraternity
‘KGF’ actor Yash, popularly called ‘Rocking Star’ has announced an initiative to support daily wage earners of the Kannada film industry who have been severely hit due to the pandemic. He has posted a statement in his social media handle announcing that he will be donating Rs 5,000 each to the personal account of around 3,000 members working across 21 departments of Kannada film fraternity. Yash also expressed over the impact of the pandemic on the livelihood of people across the country.
The statement reads,
Covid 19 has proved to be an invisible enemy that has dismantled the livelihoods of innumerable people across our country. Our own Kannada Film fraternity has been badly affected as well. In light of the grave times we live in, to each of the 3000 odd members which include all the 21 departments of our film fraternity, I will be donating from my earnings, a sum of Rs 5000 to their personal accounts. While I am very well aware that this may not serve as a solution to the loss and the pains caused by the situation we are in, it’s a ray of hope, since it’s HOPE that is the certainty of faith, Faith of better times.
Meanwhile, Yash’s much-hyped film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is awaiting release. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film is scheduled to hit screens on July 16. It remains to be seen if the makers can proceed with the release in this current situation.
