KP Sasikala says she won’t allow the release of Mohanlal’s The Mahabharata

It is already known that Jnanpith award winner MT Vasudevan Nair’s famous novel Randamoozham is being made as a movie with the Mohanlal in the lead. The movie, titled as The Mahabharata will be made on an astronomical budget of Rs 1000 crores. UAE based Indian businessman Dr BR Shetty is producing this venture.

While the movie’s announcement grabbed the headlines all across the nation, Hindu Aikya Vedi chairperson KP Sasikala has threatened to stall it’s release. Aaccording to her, Randamoozham is a novel that twisted the real epic Mahabharatha and hence the movie adaptation of the novel should not be titled as The Mahabharata.

PK Sasikala affirms that Mahabaratha is related to religion and hence a novel that distorted the history and religion will not be allowed to release with this title. She has said that the movie should also be named as Randamoozham like how other novel adaptations like Chemeen and Odayil Ninnu were named.

MT Vasudevan Nair’s Randamoozham is based on the Indian epic Mahabharatha, but told from the perspective of Bheemasenan. Mohanlal has been roped in to play the central character of Bheeman in the film. Leading actors and technicians from Indian cinema and across the world will be part of this epic movie. Renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon will helm this project.

The Mahabharata is being planned to be made as a multilingual in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. It will be made as two parts and is set to go floors by September next year.
