Our next movie should be a historic hit in the Box office no matter how long it takes : Mammootty to Vysakh
Director Vysakh recently announced his next movie with Megastar Mammootty in the lead. The movie titled as Raja 2 will have Mammootty reprising the character Raja from the 2010 blockbuster Pokkiriraja. Vysakh is currently the hot favourite among the directors after delivering the epic blockbuster Pulimurugan.
In a recent interview the director revealed more information about the movie. He said that Mammootty had told him that their next movie should be a historic hit in the box office no matter how long it takes.
He said, “It was a long 7 years wait to come up with something of that sort. Raja 2 will not be a sequel to Pokkiriraja, only the character is taken forward to the next part. The story, backdrop and the setting will be entirely different from Pokkiriraja. The current audience taste is not the same as in 2010, so Raja 2 will be a more racy and technically advanced movie. The movie will be an action packed entertainer that can be enjoyed by the fans, kids and the families. It will have all the elements that the audience usually expect for in a Mammootty movie, a complete package with action, humour and family drama.”
According to sources, Raja 2 will be the biggest movie in Mammootty’s career in terms of budget. The movie is being produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam Films. India’s best technical team and VFX crew will work in the movie which is being planned as a trilingual in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. Reportedly, Tomichan Mulakupadam has got a bulk 100 days call sheet from Mammootty for the movie.
The announcement came in as a huge surprise for the fans of the Megastar. Even though there were reports about Vysakh teaming up with Mammootty, there were no guesses about the return of the popular character Raja. Vysakh made his directorial debut through Pokkiriraja in 2010. Raja 2 is written by Udhayakrishna who also wrote the script for Pokkiriraja along with Sibi K Thomas. The movie will go on floors within the next few months.
