Prithviraj Sukumaran heads to US for his next film’s shoot
Prithviraj recently finished shooting for his upcoming movie Vimaanam. The actor will next join the team of Ranam, directed by debutant Nirmal Sahadev. The movie was earlier named as Detroit Crossing but later the makers opted for a title change. Prithviraj has left to the US for the movie’s shoot.
Majority of the portions will be shot in Detroit, Michigan. The movie will showcase the lives of the immigrant community. Prithviraj plays the role of a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which is inspired by real-life incidents. The actor will be portraying a grey shaded role. Mamta Mohandas has been roped in as the female lead and she will be seen in an equally important role. Her’s is a very a strong and mature character that also has several shades and layers.
Rana falls under the category of a dark neo-noir thriller. The city of Detroit will have paramount importance in the plot. Since the movie is based on Tamil street gangs, some noted Tamil actors like Ashwin Kumar and Sampath Raj will also be seen in pivotal roles.
The team will be shooting for nearly 50 days for the film. Ranam has most of its crew from the US. Cinematography will be handled by Lukasz Pruchnik, who previously worked in Fahadh Faasil’s Monsoon Mangoes. D16 fame Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to handle the music department. The movie is being produced by Anand Kumar Payyanur under the banner of Yes Cinema Company.
