Queen fame Dhruvan in Mammootty’s Mamankam

As we had earlier reported, the first schedule of Mammootty’s period flick Mamankam will start rolling in February. The movie marks the directorial debut of Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of the legendary Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Sajeev has scripted the movie after doing research works for over 12 years.
Venu Kunnampilly’s Kavya Films is backing this big budget project.

Pre-production works are currently progressing at a brisk pace Casting process is going on in full swing. As per latest reports, promising young actor Dhruvan, who played the lead role in the recent hit film Queen, has been roped in for Mamankam. The nature or type of his character has not yet been revealed, but it is playing a crucial role. Dhruvan was highly impressive with his performance in Queen. Grabbing a chance in such a high profile project like Mamankam i is indeed a big break for the youngster.

This upcoming movie is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, which was held every 12 years from 800 AD to 1755 AD. Mamankam festival was held on the banks of Bharathapuzha in Tirunava where brave warriors from across the country who would come together to showcase their skills at combat.

Mammootty will be seen as a Chaaver (warrior) in the this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers. Apart from him, several leading stars from other industries will also be part of the cast. It is an spectacle-heavy movie, so the makers are in talks with the best available technicians.

VFX works in Mamankam will be headed by RC Kamala Kannan, who has worked in several high profile projects in South Indian cinema, namely Baahubali 2, Magadheera, Eega, Rudhramadevi etc. Veteran composer M Jayachandran has already been confirmed as the music director. Some other leading technicians are also expected to associate with this ambitious project.

Mangalore and Kasargod have been finalized as the major locations. The first schedule commencing on February 10 is reportedly a brief one and full fledged shoot will begin only by May, this year.
