Seven movies to hit screens during this Onam season
Onam has always been a favourite period for filmmakers. Families throng theatres in large numbers during this holiday season and hence many high profile films are planned to release during this time. This year is no different as atleast seven Malayalam movies are gearing up for release. Malayali audience will surely have a tough time in selecting which all to watch as all the leading stars are releasing their films to cash in on the festive season.
Velipadinte Pusthakam
Mohanlal’s first film with Lal Jose is written by Benny P Nayarambalam. The superstar will be appearing in two different looks in the movie – as a college professor and a local goon. Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Anna Reshmaz Anoop Menon, Jude Anthany and many other well known faces are also part of the cast. Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this movie.
Pullikkaran Staraa
Mammootty starrer Pullikkaran Staraa is gearing up to hit screens during the Onam season. The movie directed by 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar looks promsises to be a fun filled entertainer. Mammootty is playing the role of an instructor in a teacher training institute in the film. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati play the female leads. Debutant Ratheesh Ravi has scripted this moviee which is being produced by B Rakesh under the banner of Universal Cinemas.
Adam Joan
Prithviraj’s Adam Joan is another movie that is scheduled to release for the Onam season. The movie, which marks the debut directorial of writer Jinu Abraham is touted to be a revenge thriller. Adam Joan stars stars Bhavana, Narain, Rahul Madhav and Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty, Siddique and Lena. Adam Joan is being produced by Brijeesh Mohamed, Josemon Simon and Nihal.
Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela
Nivin Pauly’s next release is Njandukalude Naattil Oridevala, an upcoming family entertainer directed by Premam fame Althaf Salim. The movie has veteran actors Lal and Shanthi Krishna play Nivin Pauly’s parents. Srinda Arhaan and Njan Steve Lopez fame Ahanaa Krishna will be seen as his sisters. Dileesh Pothan, Premam actors Sharafudheen, Siju Wilson and Krishna Sankar are also part of the supportingjjjNivin is producing the movie under his banner Pauly Jr Pictures. E4 Entertainment will be distributing the movie in Kerala.
Lava Kusa
Aju Varghese and Neeraj Madhav are teaming up once again for an upcoming movie titled as Lava Kusha. Interestingly, the movie is written by Neeraj Madhav and directed by Gireesh Mano of Nee Ko Njaa Chaa fame. Biju Menon is also said to be playing an integral role in the movie. Lava Kusha is said to be a out and out comedy entertainer. 5 The movie is produced by Jaison Elamgulam and Gireesh Vaikom.
Aakasha Mittayee
Jayaram is making is comeback with Aakasha Mittayee, family entertainer directed by Samuthiraknai. This upcoming movie is the official remake of Samuthirakani’s Tamil movie Appa.
Popular actress Ineya replaced Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar in Akasha Mittayee due to some issues. The movie is being produced by Maha Subair under the banner of Varnachitra Big Screen.
Parava
Actor-turned-filmmaker Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava is all set for release next month. Parava, the title suggests, the movie has a connection to birds. The movie is reportedly about the pigeon racing practiced in the Fort Kochi, Mattanchery regions in Kochi. Dulquer has played an extended cameo in the movie. Parava stars Kismath fame Shane Nigam and some newcomers in major roles. Filmmaker Anwar Rasheed and Shyju Unni are producing this movie under the banner of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.
With seven biggies lined up, Mollywood indeed has a great time ahead. Some huge collections are expected to breathe fresh life to the industry.
