Veeram shaping up as the biggest Malayalam movie ever
Veeram is an epic historical drama, an adaptation of legendary poet Shakespeare’s classic Macbeth. The movie is directed by national award winning filmmaker Jayaraj. It is the fifth installment in director Jayaraj’s Navarasa series.
Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor is playing the role of historic character Chanthu Chekavar in the movie. Set in 13th century Kerala, the film shows the journey of the real life character made famous through folk literature and songs.
The film is co-produced by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts. Veeram is being made as a trilingual in Malayalam, Hindi and English. The makers are also planning to release in Tamil and Telugu languages by this year.
Veeram is said to be made on a budget of 35 crores. If the reports are to be believed then Veeram is the biggest Malayalam movie ever made n terms of budget. The film also comprises of a strong technical unit mostly from the west.
Action choreographer Allan Poppleton, who has worked on films such as Lord of the Rings and Avatar is choreographing the action sequences in the movie. Oscar and Emmy award-winning make-up artist Trefor Proud has also been roped in for Veeram. Award winning popular music director Jeff Rona is handling the music department in the movie.
Veeram is primarily shot in the iconic Ellora caves in Aurangabad. The movie will be screened in the film festivals to be held in Trivandrum and Kolkata.
