Composer Sam CS hints at Amitabh Bachchan being part of Odiyan!

Mohanlal’s Odiyan is unarguably one of the most awaited South Indian films coming up this year. The movie has a theme that has rarely been experimented in Indian cinema. Odiyan is a fantasy film that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism. Ever since the project was announced, there have been reports about Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan being a part of the movie.

The speculations have once again caught fire after composer Sam CS tagged Bachchan in a Twitter post about Odiyan. He has tweeted,

Commencing Scoring for #ODIYAN MANIKAN. Unlike usual routine whr RR scoring is done having previously shot visuals of the movie, I am scoring bgms for the script for Odiyan prior to shoot like how Vikram vedha s bgms where born. @Mohanlal @VA_Shrikumar @SrBachchan @prakashraaj

Sam later removed this tweet from his official Twitter handle. But before that, news started spreading and has ever since then been doing the rounds in social medias. Director Shrikumar Menon is very close to Bachchan after having worked with him in several ad films. It will be massive if the director can get Bachchan on board for Odiyan. He has previously worked with Mohanlal in Kaandahar and Aag. Let’s hope he agrees to be a part of the movie.

Scripted by National award winner Harikrishnan, the movie is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic and people who practice it are called odiyans. The team has already finished two schedules in Varanasi and Palakkad. The third and final schedule will be commencing in February once Mohanlal returns back after shooting for Ajoy Varma’s movie. Reportedly, there are 70 more days of shoot left for Odiyan.

In the movie, Mohanlal plays the role of Odiyan Manikyan, who is said to be the last living odiyan in the world. The story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. Mohanlal’s Manikyan is a renowned odiyan who lived in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in Palakkad. The movie follows his life from his childhood to his 60s.

Mohanlal will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie. He had recently stunned everyone by shedding around 18 kilos of his body weight to play the younger age of Manikyan. A fit and vibrant Mohanlal will be joining the final schedule in February.

Odiyan has some big names, both in the cast as well as the technical side. Veteran actor Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier will be seen in prominent roles in the movie. Narain, Kailash, Siddique and Innocent are also part of the supporting cast. India’s leading stunt master Peter Hein is choreographing the action sequences. Pulimurugan’s cinematographer Shaji Kumar is wielding the camera and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits.
