As we had reported earlier, Bobby-Sanjay duo is scripting a political thriller for Mammootty. The movie which is to directed by ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame Santhosh Vishwanath has the megastar playing the role of Kerala Chief Minister. The makers have roped in ‘Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan’ fame Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Sreenivasan to play prominent roles in the movie.

This upcoming movie is about how a CM should be in today’s Kerala. It will showcase the discussions between a common youth and the State’s CM. Vishnu will be seen playing the former’s role in the movie. It is a performance oriented role and the youngster must be feeling proud to have bagged such a significant role alongside a veteran star like Mammootty.

Earlier, Vishnu was supposed to play a major role in Mammootty’s Streetlights but he had to opt out after getting injured while shooting for the film. He will be thanking his stars now for grabbing a second chance to share screen space with Mammootty.

Bobby-Sanjay duo is among the finest writers in the industry at present; so the audience can expect another quality film from them. Eventhough Santhosh Viswanath’s debut directorial, Chirakodinja Kinavukal, flopped at the box office, critics praised him for his attempt to make Malayalam cinema’s first ever spoof film.

Mammootty is playing a Minister’s role after 27 long years and the veteran is all excited about it. Though he has done a chief minister’s role in Tamil film Makkal Aatchi, this will be his first such role in a Malayalam movie. From the outset, the project looks very promising as a political film will be a refreshing change for Mammootty from the usual mass commercial entertainers.

The movie’s official announcement with details regarding the title and full cast and crew is expected to be made very soon. The makers are planning to go on floors by the end of this year, once Mammootty wraps up his ongoing commitments.

B Unnikrishnan to present Anushka Shetty’s Bhaagmathie in Kerala!

Earlier this week, the trailer of Anushka Shetty’s Bhaagamathie was released to phenomenal response from the audience. The movie directed by G Ashok is a comic horror thriller. Pramod and V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy is producing this big budget movie under the banner UV Creations.

Malayalam actors Unni Mukundan, Jayaram and Asha Sharath are also part of Bhaagamathie. The movie will be released in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Director B Unnikrishnan’s RD Illuminations will be distributing the Tamil and Malayalam versions in Kerala. The director himself revealed this through a Facebook post which reads,

“Delighted to tell all of you that my firm, RD Illuminations, will be distributing ‘Bhaagamathie’ In Kerala. The movie will be released in both Malayalam and Tamil versions. The movie is going to be a treat for the audience with our own Jayaram, Unni Mukundan and Asha Sarat joining Anunshka in a power packed narrative.”

Anushka Shetty is now a nationwide favourite thanks to the massive success of the Baahubali franchise. Audience across the country are eagerly waiting for her next film. Her massive popularity is what inspired the makers to dub the movie in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil languages. Unlike Arundhati, this is not revenge horror thriller. Bhaagamathie comes under the genre of horror comedy. This film is also shot on a big scale involving lot of VFX works. It is slated to hit screens on January 26, as a Republic Day Release

After a month long break, Mohanlal is back for shooting. He recently started working on Bollywood filmmaker Ajoy Varma’s debut Malayalam movie, which is said to be a thriller. Earlier, reports suggested that popular heroines Trisha and Meena would be playing the female leads in the movie. However, the makers have now come out declining it.

Producer Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment has clarified that the above-mentioned actresses are not part of the film. Parvatii Nair, noted for roles in films like James and Alice and Uttama Villain, has been confirmed as one of the female leads. It is worth a mention that Parvatii is playing one of the heroines in Tamil film Nimir, which is also backed by the same production house.

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dileesh Pothan and Sai Kumar will also be seen in prominent roles in Mohanlal’s upcoming movie with Ajoy Varma. The makers are currently on the look for another suitable actress to play Mohanlal’s wife. Director Ajoy Varma is a former associate of Ram Gopal Varma and Rajiv Anchal. He has previously directed a Hindi movie titled SRK. His debut outing in Malayalam, which is yet-to-be-titled, is scripted by newcomer Saju Thomas.

Reportedly, Mohanlal has given 15 days out of his busy schedule for this movie. It will be mostly shot in places outside Kerala like Mumbai, Mongolia and Sri Lanka. The movie went on floors earlier this week in Mumbai. It is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment, and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikdan.

Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie, Kayamkulam Kochunni is highly anticipated by the audience. Expectations for the movie escalated to a whole new level after it was announced that superstar Mohanlal is also part of the movie. Though certain reports suggested that it will be a cameo role, director Rosshan Andrewss has clarified that it is a very prominent role.

Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, the movie is based on the famous highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni, who was active in the 19th century in Travanore. While Nivin appears in the titular role, Mohanlal is playing the role of Ithikara Pakki in the movie. Pakki was the first legendary Robin Hood of Kerala and he and Kochunni were contemporaries.

Mohanlal recently underwent an amazing body transformation by shedding around 18 kilos. So, his trimmed physique will help perform the ‘kalaripayattu’ portions effortlessly. Director Rosshan Andrewss has informed that Mohanlal will be sporting an entirely new look in the movie.

Apparently, the character has immense scope for performance and the team is very much excited to have Mohanlal on board. He will part of the schedules in Mangalore, Goa and Sri Lanka. He is expected to join the sets by the end of this month or early February.

Kayamkulam Kochunni has Priya Anand playing the female lead. Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh are also part of the supporting cast. The technical crew includes some big names like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran. Gopi Sunder is taking care of the music department. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is producing this big budget movie.

We had earlier reported about Mammootty committing a film with ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame Santhosh Viswanath. The National award winning writer duo Bobby-Sanjay is scripting this film. It is their first script for Mammootty and expecations are naturally on the higher side. This yet-to-be-titled movie is a political thriller and the megastar will be playing the role of Kerala Chief Minister in it.

Director Santhosh Vishwanath in a recent interview revealed that is Mammootty is thrilled about playing the role of a chief minister. The last time he played a Minister’s role was back in 1991 in Sathyan Anthikad’s Nayam Vyekthamakunnu. Though he has played a chief minister’s role in Tamil film Makkal Aatchi, this will be his first such role in a Malayalam movie.

Last week, director RS Vimal made a stunning announcement about his much talked about film based on the mythological character Karna. The director had earlier announced the project with Prithviraj but it has been dropped now. Instead, RS Vimal is making the film in Hindi as ‘Mahavir Karna’ with Tamil star Vikram playing the titular role. New York based production house United Film Kingdom is funding this mega project which is being planned on a never-before-seen scale in Indian cinema.

RS Vimal and his team have been working on the script and pre-production for over three years. As per the director, the movie will have the best available technicians from all across the globe. Since the film is based on Mahabharatha, it has a host of other major characters besides the lead role played by Vikram.

In a recent interview to TOI, RS Vimal revealed that not just Indian actors but Hollywood stars will also be part of the project. The character of Bhima will be played by a prominent actor from Hollywood. It must be noted that Mohanlal is playing Bhima’s character in Shrikumar Menon’s upcoming magnum opus Randamoozham. Soon comparisons are bound to happen between these two performances. It will be interesting to see how an actor from abroad plays such a legendary character from the Hindu mythology.

Vikram’s Mahavir Karna will go on floors in October next year and is expected to release by December 2019. The movie will be made in Hindi and released in all other major Indian languages. Canada, Hyderabad and Jaipur have been finalized as the major locations.

Velaikkaran is a socially relevant film. It deals with food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system. The makers have released the video of ‘Ezhu Velaikkara’ song. We had already reported about popular actor and television host Ramesh Pisharody turning a filmmaker. His maiden directorial titled as ‘Panchavarnathatha’ stars Jayaram and Kunchacko Boban in the lead roles. Shoot for the movie has commenced today with a customary switch on ceremony.

Panchavarnathatha, scripted jointly by Ramesh Pisharody and Hari P Nair is said to be a fun filled entertainer aimed at the families. Jayaram will be sporting a totally different look in the movie. From the first look poster we presume that he will be appearing in a bald and clean shaven avatar. Anusree is on board as the female lead while Salim Kumar, Dharmajan Bolgatty and many other noted actors are part of the supporting cast.

Ramesh Pisharody is very popular among Malayalis for his anchoring skills and his spontaneous humour timing. Though, he has acted only in a very few films, his TV anchoring and comedy performance in various stage shows has made him an audience favourite.

Prithviraj’s upcoming movies in 2018!

Prithviraj had a not-so-great 2017 as only one out of his four releases worked well at the box office. While his horror flick Ezra emerged as a blockbuster, the much hyped Tiyaan ended up as a big disappointment. The dark thriller Adam Joan did average business and his Christmas release Vimaanam is finding it hard to get screens amidst the Aadu and Masterpiece wave. However, 2018 promises to be a great year for Prithviraj as he has some highly exciting films coming up.

Ranam aka Detroit Crossing, directed by newcomer Nirmal Sahadev will be Prithviraj’s first to hit screens this year. It is an action thriller set entirely in the United States. The movie based on some real-life incidents is about the lives of the immigrant community in Detroit. Prithviraj plays a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which also stars Rahman and Isha Talwar in major roles.

Next on the line is My Story, directed by debutante Roshni Dinaker. The movie scripted by noted actor/scenarist Shankar Ramakrishnan is a romantic entertainer set in two different timelines. Parvathy plays the female lead in the movie.

Prithviraj was last seen shooting for Anjali Menon’s movie which also stars Parvathy and Nazriya in the lead roles. The team had been shooting in Ooty for over a month before taking a break. Anjali Menon has scripted this movie based on relationships and their values. It is said to be a light hearted family entertainer in which Nazriya and Prithviraj play siblings. Director Ranjith, Hindi actor Atul Kulkarni, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Maala Parvathy are also part of the supporting cast.

Another film that Prithviraj will be shooting in 2018 is Aadujeevitham. Blessy will be helming this epic film which is being planned to be shot over a period of two years. The movie is based on Benyamin’s award winning novel of the same name, which is about the life of an abused migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. Prithviraj will be undergoing drastic physical changes for Aadujeevitham. The makers have planned to shoot the movie in various schedules through the time span of which Prithviraj will be going through multiple physical transformations. The first schedule will kick-start in February. It is being planned to be made simultaneously in Malayalam and Hindi.

After wrapping up the first leg of shoot of Aadujeevitham, Prithviraj will start works for his directorial debut ‘Lucifer’ starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead. Murali Gopy is scripting this film and is being produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. More details regarding this much awaited project is expected to be officially announced very soon.

Prithviraj is the go to man for Malayali filmmakers to do real life characters. Celluloid, Ennu Ninte Moideen and the recently released Vimaanam are fine examples. Another such film that is coming up is Meter Gauge 1904, which will be directed by ‘Vimaanam’ fame Pradeep M Nair. The movie is about Travancore’s first meter gauge railway service. Prithviraj will be playing the role of Kuruvila, an engineer who was one of the pillars of construction of the famous Kollam-Shenkottai meter gauge. The movie is said to be a historic fiction which comprise of real life events and historic elements as well. Since the movie demands a lot of research and preparations, it is still not known when it will go on floors.

Apart from these above mentioned projects, Prithviraj has also committed for a movie based on Velu Thampi Dalawa’s life with Viji Thambi and another one with Ranjith Sankar.
