Fahadh Faasil's upcoming movies in 2018!

Fahadh Faasil is unarguably the most talented actor of this generation in Malayalam cinema. His body of work speaks volumes about the amazing actor that he is. Except for the forgettable Role Models, 2017 was a successful year for Fahadh. His extended cameo role as a bureaucrat in Mahesh Narayanan’s widely acclaimed Take Off was unanimously appreciated. He followed that up with a mysterious thief’s role in Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, one of the finest Indian films in recent years. Fahadh ended the year on a high with Velaikkaran, his Tamil debut in which he played the villain role.

Come 2018, Fahadh has a lot more exciting projects in his kitty. Venu’s Carbon will be his first release of the year. The movie has some of the finest technicians in Indian cinema like Vishal Bhardwaj, KU Mohanan, Beena Paul and Venu. It is a realistic adventure thriller and as per our sources close to the unit, Fahadh has showcased yet another wonderful performance.

Fahadh has been shooting for Anwar Rasheed’s comeback film Trance for sometime now. Not much is known about the film but expectations are still huge among the audience. Amal Neerad and Resul Pookutty are part of the movie’s technical team. The secrecy that the makers are maintaining has successfully piqued the curiosity of the audience.

Even before the release of Velaikkaran, Fahadh had bagged two other films in Tamil. One of them is Super Deluxe, an anthology directed by Thyagaraja Kumararaja. The director’s debut film Aaranya Kaandam is widely regarded as one of the best Indian films in the past decade or so. Apart from Fahadh, Super Deluxe also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Nadia Moidu and director Mysskin.

Fahadh is also part of one of the biggest multistarrers in Tamil cinema. Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is directing this movie which stars Arvind Swamy, Simbu, Fahadh, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead roles. Santhosh Sivan is the cinematographer and AR Rahman will be handling the music department. This yet-to-be-titled movie is slated to go on floors from January third week.

Besides these above-mentioned ones, Fahadh has also committed for a rural entertainer with Marthandan and debutant Vivek’s Aanengilum Allengilum, a rom-com co-starring Sunny Wayne. He is also in talks for Sathayn Anthikad’s next film which is being scripted by Sreenivasan. That makes it quite an enviable line up. Hopefully, all these movies live up to their expectations.

Watch the first song from Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadhi

Pranav Mohanlal’s debut film as a lead actor, Aadhi is gearing up for release. Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, Aadhi is said to be an action thriller. The movie has high expectations among the audience especially Mohanlal fans. The superstar’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this movie.

As announced earlier, the makers have released the first song video from Aadhi. Anil Johnson, a regular in Jeethu Joseph films, is handling the music department in Aadhi as well Pranav Mohanlal plays Adithya Mohan aka Aadhi in the movie. He is an aspiring musician living with his parents in Kochi. Things take a turn once he lands in Bangalore. Pranav has performed some risky stunts in the movie. Interestingly, he has also penned and lent his voice for an English retro track in the movie.

Lena and Siddique play Pranav’s parents in the movie. Noted Telugu actor Jagpathi Babu, who was last seen in Malayalam in Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, is the villain in the movie. Anusree, ‘Premam’ fame Sharafudheen, Aditi Ravi, Sijoy Varghese, Siju Wilson, Nobi, Tony Luke and Krishna Shankar form the supporting cast.

Satheesh Kurup is cranking the camera and Ayoob Khan is in charge of the edits. If reports are to be believed, the makers are eyeing to release the movie for the Republic Day weekend. January 26 looks like the preferred date but an official confirmation regarding the same has not yet been given.

Salim Kumar’s latest directorial ‘Daivame Kaithozham K. Kumarakanam’ starring Jayaram is gearing up to hit screens. The makers have released the first song from the movie via YouTube. It is a fun song with a picnic mood. Vijay Yesudas and actress Kavya Madhavan have rendered this song composed by Nadirshah.

Daivame Kaithozham K. Kumarakanam promises to be a feel good family entertainer. Anusree plays Jayaram’s wife in the movie. Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Surabhi Lakshmi, Kochu Premam, Marimayam fame Manju, Kottayam Pradeep and MLA PC George will be seen in supporting roles.

Sinu Sidharth is cranking the camera and actor/filmmaker Nadirshah is handling the music department. This upcoming movie is being jointly produced by Alwin Antony, Dr Zachariah Thomas and Sreejith Ramachandran.

Watch the latest song from Fahadh Faasil’s Carbon!

Fahadh Faasil’s much awaited movie Carbon is gearing up to hit screens this month. Directed by Venu, the movie stars Mamta Mohandas as the female lead. The film’s audio launch was held recently in Kochi. The makers have released the second song video from Carbon through the movie’s official Facebook page.

The song is penned by BK Harinarayanan and rendered by Rekha Bhardwaj. It is composed by the multiple National award winner Vishal Bhardwaj. The song features both the lead actors Fahadh and Mamta Mohandas in it.

Carbon is one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of 2018. It is a very exciting film as it has some big names associated with it. KU Mohanan, who has wielded the camera several Hindi films is making his Malayalam debut with Carbon. Multiple national award winning director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj is handling the music department and director Venu’s wife Beena Paul, who is also a National award winner, is editing the movie.

Besides a strong technical crew, Carbon also has a solid supporting cast which includes Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen, Manikandan Achari, Dileesh Pothan, Ashokan, Lena, Praveena, Spadikam George, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Kochu Preman and ‘Guppy’ fame Master Chethan Lal among others.

Carbon is being produced jointly by Sibi Thottapuram and Navis Xaviour under the banner of Poetry Film House. An official announcement about the movie’s release date is expected to be made very soon.

Watch the teaser of Mammootty’s Streetlights!

Mammootty’s Streetlights is gearing up to hit screens by the end of this month. The movie marks the directorial debut of noted cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen. As announced earlier, the highly anticipated teaser has been released today through the movie’s official Facebook page.

Streetlights scripted by debutant Fawaz Muhammed is a crime thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of an investigative officer. The movie was shot as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam. Teaser of both the versions have been released today. If reports are to be believed, it is also being dubbed in Telugu. All three versions are expected to hit screens simultaneously.

Since the movie was shot separately in two languages, it has different set of actors for each version. The Malayalam version stars Joy Mathew, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Kanaran, Neena Kurup, Lijomol Jose, Sohan Seenulal, Indrans, Soubin Shahir and Sudhi Koppa among others.

Veteran actor Pandiarajan, his son Prithvi Rajan, Manobala, Black Pandi, Stunt Silva, Motta Rajendran and some other noted supporting actors feature in the Tamil version. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters.

Newcomer Adarsh Abraham has composed the songs while Yakzan Pereira and Neha Nair are handling the background score. Director Shamdat’s brother Sadat Sainudeen has cranked the camera.

Mammootty himself is producing the film under his banner Playhouse Pictures. Reports suggest that the makers are eyeing to release it for the Republic weekend but an official announcement has not yet been made.

Diwanjimoola Grand Prix Review: A perfectly entertaining satire

Diwanjimoola Grand Prix is the fourth directorial venture of Anil Radhakrishnan Menon after the National award winning North 24 Kaatham, Sapthamsree Thaskaraha and Lord Livingston 7000 Kandi. Like all his previous films, this one also has a peculiar title raising the curiosity of the audience. The movie has hit screens today. Let’s see how the movie has turned out to be.

Diwanjimoola Grand Prix is set entirely in Thrissur. The plot kicks off after Sajan Joseph (Kunchacko Boban) is appointed as the district collector. Upon arrival, he launches many new initiatives and soon becomes a favourite among the general public. Diwanjimoola is a shady slum area in the district where goons and all sorts of people reside. We are straightaway introduced a host of characters from Diwanjimoola. The ward is headed by Effymol (Nyla Usha) and Jithendran (Siddique) is a resident of that locality, who was once a very popular bike racer. Presently, he is bed ridden after meeting with an accident. The movie explores the life and the problems of the people of Diwanjimoola.

Kunchacko Boban is at his usual best with an effortless performance as the district collector. Nyla Usha’s Effymol is her career best role and she makes the best out of it. The ever dependent Siddique has given a wonderful performance and the veteran once again proves why he is among the best character actors we have today. The newcomers are all impressive and kudos to the makers for the casting.

Director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon along with his co-writer Prashanth (collector bro) has scripted a neatly engaging film with satirical elements. The visuals are all good and the bike racing scenes have been captured well. Gopi Sunder’s music perfectly suits the mood of the movie.

Overall, Diwanjimoola Grand Prix is a perfectly engaging watch.

Here’s the first look of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari!

Akshay Kumar is unarguably at the best phase of his career. Unlike his contemporaries, he is doing films with strong content and is still reaping good commercial success. His last release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a big hit and is currently awaiting the release of PadMan, directed by Balki.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has started shooting for new film, Kesari today (January 5). Kesari, based on the Battle of Saragarhi is one of his most ambitious projects. Akshay unveiled his look for the movie through his official Twitter handle. He will be seen playing the role of a military commander of 21 Sikh soldiers named Havaldar Ishar Singh who fought against thousands of Afghani invaders.

Kesari is being directed by Anurag Singh and co-produced by Karan Johar. Vikram likely to team up with Billa director Vishnu Vardhan!

After a no-release 2017, Chiyaan Vikram is busy working for back to back projects this year. He is currently shooting for director Hari’s Saamy Square. It is the sequel of the duo’s 2003 super hit cop-action thriller, Saamy. He is playing a police officer in this upcoming movie as well. Gautham Menon’s spy-thriller Dhruva Natchathiram is the other film coming up for Vikram this year.

Now as per latest reports, Vikram is in talks with director Vishnu Vardhan for his next film. Nothing has been finalized as of now as talks are still in the initial stages. The project might get confirmed in a couple of weeks time.

Vishnu Vardhan is noted for his films like Arninthum Ariyamalum, Billa, Sarvam and Arrambam. His last outing Yatchan, which released in 2015, could not fare well at the box office. Ever since then, the director has been maintaining a low profile. Recently, there were reports about the director reuniting with Thala Ajith for the third time but was later dismissed as rumours.

Meanwhile, Vikram is awaiting the release of his upcoming movie, Sketch, slated to storm screens on January 12. The movie directed by Vijay Chander of ‘Vaalu’ fame, is said to be a typical mass action packed entertainer.

Mudhugauv actress to romance Karthi in his next!

Yet another Malayali actress is finding her feet in Kollywood. Arthana, who made an impressive debut with Gokul Suresh’s Mudhugauv, is getting back to back offers in Tamil. After starring in Samuthirakani’s Thondan, GV Prakash’s Semma and Vennila Kabadikuzhu 2, the pretty actress has signed up for her fourth movie in which she has been paired opposite Karthi.

Directed by National award winner Pandiraj, this upcoming movie has two other heroines – ‘Vanamagan’ fame Sayyeshaa and ‘Meyadha Maan’ fame Priya Bhavani Shankar. Arthana has been roped in as the third heroine. This yet-to-be-titled film is said to be a complete family entertainer. Yesteryear actress Bhanupriya, Sathyaraj, Soori and Ponnvannan are also part of the supporting cast.

Karthi’s brother actor Suriya is funding this film under his banner 2D Entertainment. Reportedly, Suriya was mighty impressed with Pandiraj’s narration that he immediately agreed to produce the movie.

The director is well known for his films like Pasanga, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga and Kathakali. His debut film Pasanga won him a couple of National awards. He has also worked with Suriya previously in Pasanga 2, in which the star played an extended cameo.

Pandiraj’s upcoming movie with Karthi has music by D Imman and cinematography is handled by Velraj. The team has already the wrapped up the first schedule and is currently on a break as Karthi and other actors are in Malaysia for a star night event.

Appreciation for Thaana Serntha Koottam from censor board officals!

Suriya is eyeing to kick-start 2018 on a high with the release of Thaana Serntha Koottam (TSK). The movie directed by Vignesh Shivan of Poda Podi and Nannum Rowdy Dhaan fame is all set to hit screens worldwide for the coming Pongal, in the second week of January.

Recently, the movie was censored with a clean U certificate. The censor board officals had appreciated the makers after the screening as the movie does not have any smoking or drinking scenes. So, the movie will not have a statutory warning at the beginning as well.

Thaana Serntha Koottam is adpated from Akshay Kumar’s superhit Hindi film Special 26. The makers of TSK had bought the remake rights of the original and later adapted it in a different style. Apparently, they have taken only the real incident behind Special 26 and hence is not a scene-by-scene remake.

Special 26 directed by Neeraj Pandey is a heist thriller. It is about a gang of imposters who hatch brilliant plans to loot money. The movie in turn is inspired by the 1987 Opera House heist where a group posing as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers executed an income tax raid in a jewellery shop in Mumbai.

Suriya is reprising Akshay’s role from the original. From the promos, we presume that Ramya Krishnan is playing Anupam Kher’s role and Karthik is reprising Manoj Bajpai’s. TSK has Keerthy Suresh as the female lead while it was Kajal Aggarwal in the original.

Kalaiarasan, Saranya Ponvannan, Kovai Sarala, KS Ravikumar, RJ Balaji, Anandraj, Sathyan, comedian Senthil, Thambi Ramaiah and many others are also part of TSK’s supporting cast. Young sensation Anirudh Ravichander is handling the music for this movie produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under the banner of Studio Green.
