Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming movies in 2018!
Riding on a string of successful films, Dulquer Salmaan has established himself as one of the most popular new-gen Malayali actors in South India. This year, he has had four releases, of which one of them was a bilingual. Dulquer’s first release this year was the hit film Jomonte Suvisheshangal, directed by veteran Sathyan Anthikad. Next was the highly anticipated CIA aka Comrade In America. Expectations were huge since Amal Neerad and Dulquer Salmaan were teaming up for the first time. After a solid opening, the movie gradually faded and eventually ended as an average grosser.
Dulquer Salmaan’s eagerness to be part of good films was obvious when he played a cameo role in Soubin Shahir’s directorial debut Parava. His presence in the cast worked wonders for the movie as the movie found commercial success along with garnering critical acclaim. DQ’s last release this year was Solo, the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual directed by Bejoy Nambiar. It was an ambitious film made as an anthology based on nature’s four basic elements. Eventhough Dulquer’s performance was highly appreciated, the movie could not reap box office success.
Next year, most of Dulquer’s films are non-Malayalam. He is making his entry to Hindi and Telugu industry in 2018. He has already finished shooting for his Hindi debut ‘Karwaan’, directed by Akash Khurana. The movie also starring Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar promises to be a feel-good entertainer. Ronnie Screwvala is producing this movie slated to hit screens by mid-2018.
Dulquer is making his Telugu entry with ‘Mahanati’, a biopic on legendary actress Savithri. Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati has Keerthy Suresh playing Savitri and Dulquer as late actor Gemini Ganesan. The latter was briefly married to Savithri and the movie will showcase some unknown facets of their relationship. Dulquer is playing the different phases of the late actor, for which he will be seen in multiple looks. Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devarakonda, Samantha and Prakash Raj are also part of the supporting cast. The movie is also being dubbed in Tamil as ‘Nadigayar Thilagam’. It is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on March 29.
Next on the line is Dulquer’s Tamil movie Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithal. The movie directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy is said to be a romantic travelogue. ‘Pelli Choopulu’ fame Ritu Varma is paired opposite Dulquer in this movie. The team has already wrapped up a couple of schedules in Delhi and Goa.
Even before the release of his first Hindi film, Dulquer bagged another one. He will be teaming up with Anurag Kashyap, who unarguably is one of the finest actors in the country, for a triangular love story. Tapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal play the other lead roles in the movie. Director/producer Anand L Rai is backing this film, which is reportedly titled as Manmarziyan. An official announcement about this project has not yet been made.
Apart from the aforementioned ones, Dulquer has committed for a comedy entertainer in Malayalam with the writer duo Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George. A mass entertainer film with ‘Pulimurugan’ director Vysakh and a Tamil film with debutant Ra Karthik are also in the planning.
