Sun Pictures officially announce Vijay’s next with AR Murugadoss

It is already known that Vijay is reuniting with ace filmmaker AR Murugadoss for his next film. Pre-production works for the movie is currently progressing and the technicians are being finalized. Last day, producers Sun Pictures officially announced the project through their official Twitter handle.

Sun Pictures is one of the most popular production houses in Kollywood. Thalapathy 62, the working title of Vijay’s film with AR Murugadoss, marks the banner’s comeback in grand style. Their last production venture was the blockbuster Rajinikanth starrer Enthiran, released back in 2010. They have previously collaborated with Vijay by distributing his films like Vettaikaran and Sura.

AR Murugadoss is currently in the process of finalizing the team members. Malayali cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, multiple National award winning editor Sreekar Prasad and veteran art director T Santhanam have already been confirmed. Reportedly, the makers are in talks with maestro AR Rahman for handling the music department but an official confirmation regarding the same has not yet been made.

This yet-to-be-titled movie will go on floors by January and is eyeing a grand Diwali release. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.

Mohan Raja directorial Velaikkaran is gearing up for a grand Christmas release. The movie starring Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the lead roles is one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. As the release date is nearing, the makers have released the motion poster of the movie.

The motion poster is more of a character introduction one featuring all major actors of the film – Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Sneha, Prakash Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Robo Shankar, Thambi Ramiah, Rohini, RJ Balaji, Sathish and Thambi Ramiah.

Velaikkaran is a socially relevant commercial entertainer, similar to the director’s previous film Thani Oruvan. While that film was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran deals with food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system.

Velaikkaran’s Music department is handled by young sensation Anirudh Ravichander and the songs have already turned into chartbusters. RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios is funding this movie slated to hit screens worldwide on December 22.

Anirudh to launch the teaser of Biju Menon’s Rosapoo!

Shoot of Biju Menon’s upcoming movie Rosapoo was wrapped up only recently. The movie’s official first look poster was unveiled earlier this week and the teaser will be released tomorrow. Sensational young music director Anirudh Ravichander will be launching the teaser tomorrow (December 6) evening at 6 PM.

Rosapoo marks the maiden directorial of Vinu Joseph, a former associate of Rajeev Ravi. The movie is said to be a realistic black comedy. South Indian actress Anjali is playing the female lead and Neeraj Madhav will also be seen in a significant role in the movie.

Rosapoo is jointly scripted by Vinu Joseph and Santhosh Echikkanam. Interestingly, the movie will have 143 characters with importance to each one of them. Kannada actress Shilpa Manjunath, Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothan are also part of the supporting cast. Sushin Shyam of Ezra and The Great Fame is handling the music department and Vivek Harshan is the editor.

Shibu Thameens, who has produced big budget Tamil films like Puli and Irumugan is bankrolling this movie under the banner of Thameens Films. This is his second production venture in Malayalam after Dulquer Salmaan’s superhit movie ABCD.

Biju Menon starts shooting for his next titled as Oraayiram Kinakkalal

Biju Menon recently wrapped up the shoot of Vinu Joseph’s Rosapoo in Kodaikanal. The veteran actor has now joined the sets of debutant Pramod Mohan’s Oraayiram Kinakkalal. Shoot for the commenced last week in Kochi with the customary switch on ceremony.

Oraayiram Kinakkalal, as the title suggests, is a story a thousand dreams. The director, who has previously helmed the popular sitcom, Chumma- Just Fun, has penned the story based on the dreams of a set of people and the short cuts they take to fulfill it. As per the director, it is a comedy thriller with a lot of situational humour.

Biju Menon plays Sreeram, a UK returnee who wishes to settle down in Kochi with his wife and kid. Sharu P Varghese, noted for her role in Mudhugauv, is playing the female lead in this upcoming movie. Renji Panicker, Kalabhavan Shajon, Hareesh Kanaran, Nirmal Palazhi, Thesni Khan and many others are also part of the supporting cast.

Meanwhile, Biju Menon’s Rosapoo is gearing up for a Chirstmas release. The movie also starring Neeraj Madhav and Tamil actress Anjali is scheduled to hit screens on December 23.

Unni Mukundan is set to reunite with his Achayans director Kannan Thamarakkulam. The duo is teaming up for an upcoming movie titled as Chanakya Thanthram, which also stars Anoop Menon in the lead role. Interestingly, the lead actors and the crew members of this movie have taken up a commendable initiative of donating their eyes.

Unni Mukundan was the first to sign for eye donation. Inspired by his decision, Anoop Menon, director Kannan Thamarakkulam and 50 other crew members have also pledged for eye donation. It is very heartening to see celebrities being socially responsible and being an inspiration for the common public to do such humanitarian activities.

Chanakya Thanthram is scripted by Dinesh Pallathu, who had earlier worked with Kannan Thamarakkulam in the horror-comedy Aadupuliyattam. Unni Mukundan is said to be playing a grey shaded role in the movie. His character has similarities to Chanakya, a philosopher who lived in the 4th century.

Muhammed Faisal is producing this big budget movie under the banner of Miracle Productions. Pradeep Nair is the cinematographer and Shaan Rahman will be handling the music department.

Professor Dinkan: Dileep’s 3D film slightly reworked to suit the family audience!

Dileep recently resumed shooting for his upcoming films, that were stalled halfway after his shocking arrest in the actress assault case. He is currently working on Rathish Ambat’s Kammara Sambhavam and will soon join the second schedule of his 3D fantasty film Professor Dinkan. The movie is directed by veteran cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Ramachandra Babu.

Writer/director Rafi has scripted this movie which features Dileep in the role of a magician. After completing the first schedule few months back, the makers have now decided to tweak the script slightly to make it suitable for the family audience. Dileep enjoys great popularity among the families and hence the decision to rework the script and make it appealing to them as well.

Professor Dinkan stars Namitha Pramod as the female lead. The movie revolves around an ambitious magician whose aim is to astonish the world with a magic trick. But when he attempts it, he messes up big time and that affects a lot of people. How he tries to patch up with the people and undo the damage from then on through minor magic tricks forms the plot.

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aju Varghese, Srinda Arhaan, Rafi and Kailas are also part of the supporting cast. Director Ramachandra Babu himself is cranking the camera and Rajesh Mangalakal is in charge of the edits. Gopi Sunder is handling the music department.

Professor Dinkan was initially planned as a Vishu release in 2018 but Dileep’s untimely arrest and the extensive post-production works has forced the makers to push the dates further. The second schedule will kick-start in Kochi by the end of this month

Dhyan Sreenivasan is following the footsteps of his father and brother as he is all set to wear the director’s hat next year. His directorial debut titled Love Action Drama stars Nivin Pauly and Nayanathara in the lead roles. The movie is currently in the pre-production phase and is slated to go on floors early next year.

Dhyan is currently juggling between acting and film making but wishes to concentrate on direction more. In a recent interview to a Malayalam media group, he said that his second or third film will be in Tamil. Since Dhyan was brought up in Chennai, he is comfortable with the language.

A big fan of Tamil superstar Thala Ajith, Dhyan wishes to make a movie with him someday. In the interview he said, “Directing Ajith sir is not merely a dream. I’ll definitely do a movie with him someday. My second or third film will be in Tamil.”

Dhyan’s debut film Love Action Drama also has a Tamil setting as the plot is set in Chennai. He roped in Nayanthara to pair opposite as he wanted someone who is capable of handling both the languages equally well.

Love Action Drama is reportedly a modern day take on the yesteryear hit film Vadakkunokkiyanthram, directed by Dhyan’s father Sreenivasan. Aju Varghese is playing a prominent character in this upcoming movie. The actor is also venturing into production by funding this movie along with Vishak Subramaniam under the banner of Funtastic Films.

Spectacle heavy period films are the current favourites in Indian cinema currently. Mollywood also has nearly five such projects, all of them in the initial stages. Unarguably, Kunjali Marakkar is one of the most exciting among them.

Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief in the 16th century, to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. A film based on the legendary naval chieftain’s life has been in the planning for nearly five years before August Cinema finally announced it a couple of months back.

Megastar Mammootty is playing Kunjali Marakkar in this movie to be directed by Santhosh Sivan. TP Rajeev and Shankar Ramakrishnan are jointly scripting this film after doing years of research works. Pre-production for this ambitious project is currently progressing and the makers are hoping to go on floors sometime next year.

Reportedly, August Cinema is planning to invest around 50 crores for the movie. This is a hefty sum considering the limits of Malayalam film industry. Apparently, talks are on with foreign technicians to associate with this project.

In a recent interview, Santhosh Sivan said that the movie has great prominence to the technical aspects since nearly 70% of the portions has to be shot mid sea. He assured that the movie would meet global standards in its technicalities like VFX and CG works. They are trying to get on board some of the best available experts to make the movie on a never-before-seen scale.

Shoot for Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni is progressing at a rapid pace in Mangalore and nearby areas. This Roshan Andrews directorial is based on the famous highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni, who was active in the 19th century in Travancore. Award winning writer duo Bobby and Sanjay scripted this film after doing research works for close to two years.

In a sudden development of events, Priya Anand has replaced Amala Paul as the female lead in Kayamkulam Kochunni. Earlier the makers had released sketches of Amala’s character in the film and it was said to be a very challenging role. However, the actress has now opted out due to some unknown reasons.

Priya Anand made her Malayalam debut earlier this year with Prithviraj’s Ezra. She gave a praiseworthy performance in the horror flick. Some of her other noted films include English Vinglish, Ethir Neechal, Fukery, Arima Nambi etc. It will be interesting to see how she prepares herself to play a medieval character.

Kayamkulam Kochunni also stars Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh in prominent roles. The movie will explore several unknown aspects of Kochunni’s life from how he became a rebel to his love life. Nivin is taking a lot of efforts to play this character. He had undergone formal training in horseriding and Kalaripayattu prior to the movie’s shoot.

The technical team of Kayamkulam Kochunni also boasts of some big wigs like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran. Gopi Sunder is taking care of the music department.

Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is investing around Rs 15 crores for this movie. After the ongoing schedule in Mangalore, the team will be heading straight to Sri Lanka for shooting the remaining portions. The makers are planning to release the movie for next summer.

Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran is one of the most awaited Tamil movies of the season. The movie directed by Mohan Raja has a huge star cast comprising of Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Sneha and Prakash Raj among others. The audio launch function of the movie was held last day in Chennai.

Sivakarthikeyan made a breaking statement while speaking at the function. He made it clear that he will not be acting in advertisements any more. Apparently, the core plot of Velaikkaran is regarding how ad films are misleading. Sivakarthikeyan opened up about how the movie has had a big impact in his life and helped him become a more socially responsible person.

He said, “Through this experience of acting in Velaikkaran, I have decided, not to act in advertisements any more. Not just that I am against it, but I do not want to convey a wrong message to people. I do not want a kid or a woman or a family to be misguided due to my words in the ad. I am responsible for what I am doing. So, I will not act in ads anymore. I have done one ad before, agreed, but, counting from this day, I will not do any ads.”

This is a bold and commendable decision by Sivakarthikeyan as most stars today earn huge revenue from ad films. He commands a big fan following among the general public in Tamil Nadu and it is his duty to be socially responsible.

Velaikkaran is director Mohan Raja’s next after the big success of Thani Oruvan. This upcoming movie also lies on similar lines of a socially relevant commercial entertainer. While Thani Oruvan was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran discusses about food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system.

RD Raja of 24 AM Studios has produced this big ticket film, slated to hit screens worldwide on December 22 as a grand Christmas release.
