Big league heroines for Nivin Pauly!

Nivin Pauly is unarguably one of the most popular Malayali actors of the current generation. He enjoys huge popularity among non-Keralites, something he can be immensely proud of. Riding on a string of successful films, Nivin has grabbed some big offers of late. He has already committed for around six films, in which two of them are in Tamil.

Since Nivin has now established himself as big star, makers of his upcoming films are trying to rope in popular and bankable actors to share screen space with him. He is currently shooting for ace filmmaker Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude, in which he is paired opposite popular actress Trisha. This is Trisha’s debut film in Malayalam and her chemistry with Nivin is something that the audience are eagerly looking forward to.

In Dhyan Sreenivasan’s debut directorial titled as Love Action Drama, Nivin would be romancing none other than Nayanthara, the lady superstar of South Indian cinema. The movie is said to be romantic-comedy and a modern day take on the yesteryear superhit film Vadakkunokkiyanthram. The team is planning to start the movie’s shoot in October.

By the end of this year, Nivin will start works for his upcoming movie based on Kayamkulam Kochunni’s life. The movie is being written by Bobby-Sanjay and directed by Rosshan Andrewss. Amala Paul is playing the female lead in this movie. This is her second film with Nivin Pauly after Mili, which was released in 2015.

Nivin Pauly fans are in for a real treat as they will get to see their favourite actor sharing screen space with three leading heroines in his upcoming movies.

Suriya is celebrating his 42nd birthday today and as a treat for his fans, the makers of his upcoming movie Thaana Serntha Koottam had released the first look poster. Now the team had released another poster from the movie. If the first look was a regular one featuring Suriya amidst a crowd, this one is more intense with Suriya in two different looks.

The poster is designed like a mirror reflection with one end featuring Suriya as dhothi clad youngster and in the other side he sports a more professional look. Presumably, he represents a large section as we can see a group of men standing behind him in this poster.

Thaana Serntha Koottam (TSK), directed by Vignesh Shivn is touted to be an action-comedy entertainer. Shoot for the movie is currently in it’s final stages. Suriya had lost nearly 10 kilos for his role in the movie. Tamil cinema’s hot favourite Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead, marking her first time union with Suriya.

Thaana Serntha Koottam has a stellar supporting cast that includes Ramya Krishnan, Karthik, Nandha, Sathyan, popular comedian Senthil, Saranya Ponvannan, Kovai Sarala, KS Ravikumar, RJ Balaji, Anandraj and Thambi Ramaiah among others.

Young sensation Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits. The movie is jointly produced by Suriya and KE Gnanavel Raja under the banners of 2D Entertainment and Studio Green.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is presently currently shooting in Chennai for the last schedule of shoot of his upcoming movie Mersal. The movie, which marks reunion of Vijay with Theri director Atlee, is slated to hit screens in October as a Diwali release. Before that there is an exciting information coming in for all Vijay fans and music lovers.

The musical album of Mersal will be unveiled on August 20 and the makers are planning to organize a grand audio launch function. Mersal marks the 100th film of the famous production house Sri Thenandral Films, so apparently they are planning a posh launch event.

The icing on the cake is Oscar Award winner AR Rahman is composing the music for Mersal. He is composing tunes for a Vijay starrer after 10 long years and naturally expectations are sky high among the audience.

Mersal is easily one one of the most awaited Tamil films of this year. Vijay is playing a triple role in the film, a first in his career. The movie has a stellar star cast that includes three female leads in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen. SJ Suriyah, Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala and Vadivelu are part of it’s supporting cast.

As of now, all eyes and ears on August 20 for the Mozart of Madras’ compositions!

For the past few months, there have been several reports about Mani Ratnam planning a Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie. Names like Dulquer Salmaan, Nani, Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan have been doing the rounds for sometime now. But according to latest reports, the director is planning to rope in Madhavan and Fahadh Faasil and to play the lead roles in his upcoming movie.

Apparently, the legendary director has approached both the actors but they are yet to take a call. A source is quoted saying to Hindustan Times, “It’s going to take a few more weeks before we can even expect something concrete. Madhavan has a Hindi film in his kitty and he needs to work out his dates if he signs this project. Fahadh is excited about the idea but he is yet to take a call as he is also busy with prior commitments.”

If this project happens, then it will be Madhavan’s fifth film with Mani Ratnam after Alaipayuthey (also his debut film), Aayutha Ezhuthu, Kannathil Muthamittal and Guru. Fahadh, meanwhile is awaiting the release of his debut Tamil film Velaikkaran, directed by Mohan Raja. He plays the antagonist in the movie which also stars Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara in major roles.

Recently, renowned cinematographer Santosh Sivan had revealed that he will be wielding the camera for Mani Ratnam’s next. Let’s hope this news turns out to be true. Imagine Mani Ratnam and Santhosh Sivan calling shots for two amazing actors like Madhavan and Fahadh Faasil.

Mani Ratnam’s last release was Kaatru Veliyidai, a love story starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. The highly anticipated film ended up as a failure at the box office. So the director will be itching to bounce back with his next movie.

Dhanush presently has multiple projects in his kitty but that has not stopped him from signing for new films. According to latest reports, the actor will soon start shooting for Maari 2, the sequel to his 2015 film directed by Balaji Mohan.

Maari was an action-comedy drama starring Dhanush, Kajal Agarwal, Robo Shankar and Vijay Yesudas in major roles. Despite releasing amid huge hype, the movie could emerge only as a mediocre success. It is not common for an average grosser to have a sequel but Maari, the character was a big hit which inspired the makers for a sequel.

Maari 2 is Dhanush’s second sequel this year. He is awaiting the release of Vellai Illa Pattadhari 2 aka VIP 2. The movie, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth stars Dhanush, Amala Paul and Bollywood actress Kajol in the lead roles.

Dhanush has just wrapped up shooting his portions for his Hollywood debut The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, directed by Ken Scott. After returning back, he will resume works on Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thota.

As Suriya celebrates his 42nd birthday today, the makers of his upcoming movie Thaana Serntha Koottam have released the first look poster. It is a regular poster featuring Suriya amidst a crowd. However, there are reports that director Vignesh Sivan will be unveiling another look from the film, which is said to be his personal favourite, on Sunday.

Thaana Serntha Koottam (TSK) is touted to be an action-comedy entertainer. Shoot for the movie is currently in its final stages. Reportedly, TSK is loosely based on Akshay Kumar’s blockbuster movie Special 26. Some location stills from the Suriya starrer have striking resemblance to a few scenes from the Neeraj Pandey directorial.

Speculations are rife that the basic plot of TSK is also the same though it is not an official remake of Special 26. Suriya had lost nearly 10 kilos for his role in the movie. K-Town’s current favourite Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead, marking her first time union with Suriya.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam Review

Director Aneesh Anwar’s Basheerinte Premalekhanam has hit screens all over Kerala today. The movie starring Farhaan Faasil and Sana Althaf in the lead roles was publicized as a rom-com entertainer. Let’s see if it truly lives up to that tag.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam, as the name suggests has it’s core element in the love story of Basheer and Suhara. The tale happens in the fictional village of Chakkarakadavu, where development is in it’s nascent stages. The locals want a bridge that will connect the two shores of the river and there are several opinions amongst the villagers on the same issue. In between all this, Basheer-Suhara love story becomes a topic of discussion.

Aneesh Anwar, noted for his films like Kumabasaram and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal, has evolved much as a filmmaker and that is evident from his work in Basheerinte Premalekhanam. Unlike his previous films, Basheerinte Premalekhanam is a romantic-comedy. The songs and promo trailer had already created a buzz in social medias.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is scripted jointly by newbies Shinod Sivam, Bipin K Paulose and Shamseer Ahamed. The writers and director have emerged partially successful in delivering an entertaining product. The first half was not up to the mark but the latter half was convincing enough.

Farhaan Faasil has grown miles as an actor from his Njan Steve Lopez days. He has given a very convincing performance as Basheer. Similarly, Sana Althaf has shown how promising an actress she is with her balanced performance as Suhara. Kammatipadam fame Manikandan Achari was impressive once again. On the negative side, veteran actors Sheela and Madhu did not have much of a scope for performance.The supporting cast, which includes Aju Varghese, Harish Kanaran, Manikandan Achari, Nobi, Joy Mathew, Sunil Sughada, Sreejith Ravi have all justified their casting.

Sanjay Harris, the 20 year old cinematographer has captured the alluring beatuy of the rural Kerala and successfully created a retro feel as the movie is set in the 80s. However, works by the art department was a let down as we could see many new age elements on screen. Mohan Sithara’s songs are already trending on top in several music platforms and they are laced perfectly with the narrative. Ranjith Touchriver’s seamless editing has not affected the movie’s flow.

Eventhough, Basheerinte Premalekhanam has it’s share of flaws, it is a good entertainer that can be enjoyed with families.

Dhanush, apart from be a widely accepted actor has tried his hand at various other departments like playback singing, lyric writing, production, screenwriting and more recently he turned an independent director with Power Pandi. He owns the production house Wunderbar Films and the company has produced many acclaimed films like Visaranai, Kaaka Muttai and commercial blockbusters like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Ethir Neechal and Vellai Illa Pattadhari (VIP). He is also funding superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie with Kabali director Pa Ranjith.

Dhanush is now entering Mollywood by producing three films back to back. Among the three, two of them star Tovino Thomas in the lead- Tharangam and Maradona. Other one is Ladoo starring Shabareesh Varma, Balu Varghese and Vinay Forrt in major roles. Interestingly, all the three films are directed by newcomers.

Tovino starrer Tharangam will be the first to hit screens. It is a black comedy directed by Arun Dominic. Tovino is playing the role of Padmanabhan, a funny cop who is accompanied by Balu Varghese’s character Joy, both of whom are suspended from the police force. Neha Iyer and Santhy Balachandran are playing the female leads in this movie.

Ladoo is being directed by Arun George. Shabareesh Varma, Balu Varghese, Vinay Forrt and Saju Navodaya are the main actors in the film. Premam fame Rajesh Murugesan is composing the music and Gautham Sanker will crank the camera.

Wunderbar Films’ third venture Maradona was officially announced very recently in Ernakulam. Vishnu Narayanan, a former associate of Dileesh Pothan, Aashiq Abu and Sameer Thahir is directing this movie. Angamaly Diaries actors Kichu Tellus, Tito Wilson and Chemban Vinod are playing prominent roles in the movie. Newcomer Sharanya R Nair is playing the female lead. It is scripted by Krishnamoorthy, who has previously assisted directors Lijo Jose Pellissery and Dileesh Pothan.

That makes it quite an interesting line up of films for Wunderbar Films. Hopefully, with the release of these three films, they will establish themselves as one of the leading production houses in Mollywood.

Mohanlal’s Odiyan Manikyan is a fabulous athlete

Any update about Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Odiyan triggers a big buzz in social medias. The movie was officially launched last week in Trivandrum and is all set to start go on floors by August second week. Odiyan marks the debut directorial of renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon and is written by National award winner Harikrishnan.

As we already know, Odiyan is a fantasy film that is primarily about Odividya, a black magic and people who practice it, who are called Odiyan. There are a lot of stories and myths about Odiyans and their life in Kerala’s folklore. The movie is conceived as a thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism.

Director VA Shrikumar, in a recent interview revealed some interesting information about Mohanlal’s character in the film. He is playing the role of Odiyan Manikyan and will be seen from the age of 30 to 65 in multiple looks.

Odiyan Manikyan is a terrific athlete who is mastered in Odividya. He can run on four legs and jump higher than normal people. Recently, the makers had released a casting call for boys who can play the younger part of Mohanlal’s childhood. They had particularly mentioned that the aspirants should have good flexibility and be well trained in Kalaripayattu, gymnastics and martial arts.

National award winner Peter Hein has been roped in to choreograph the stunts. The movie’s major attraction will be it’s action-packed sequences. Peter Hein will be choreographing five riveting action scenes in the movie. The stunts and songs will be weaved in as part of the narrative.

Manju Warrier is playing the female lead and veteran actor Prakash Raj will be seen in a powerful antagonist’s role. Sabu Cyril is in charge of Odiyan’s production design. Sreekar Prasad will be handling the edits and M Jayachandran is composing the music. Pulimurugan’s cameraman Shaji Kumar will be wielding the camera.

Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this big budget movie. Palakkad, Pollachi, Hyderabad and Varanasi have been finalized as the major locations.

Nivin Pauly’s next Tamil film is a romantic entertainer

Nivin Pauly’s debut Tamil film Richie is yet to hit screens but the actor has already signed for two other projects in the language. As reported by us earlier, his next Tamil film would be directed by Prabhu Radhakrishnan and produced by 24 AM Studios.

The movie was launched very recently and it was announced that ace cinematographer PC Sreeram would be cranking the camera. RD Raja of 24 AM Studios has written the this movie, which reportedly is a romantic tale. As per reports, this untitled movie is a romantic entertainer and would be shot in Chennai and some rural areas of Tamil Nadu.

Nivin’s debut Tamil film Richie is the official remake of Kannada superhit movie Ulidavaru Kandanthe and it features him in the role of a thug. With this Prabhu Radhakrishnan directorial, Nivin will be back to his favourite genre – romance. He became a popular face among the Tamil audience courtsey his roles as a lover boy in movies like Premam and Neram.

Director Prabhu Radhakrishnan is noted for his television show Kanaa Kaalum Kalangal. He had also directed the promo song ‘Sirikadhe’ in Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo. Shoot for the upcoming movie would kick-start by January end next year after Nivin wraps up his prior commitments.

He is currently shooting in Goa for Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude, in which he is paired opposite Trisha, her debut film in Malayalam. His next release would be Premam fame Athaf Salim’s Njandukalde Naatil Oridavela, slated to hit screens for the Onam season.
