Dulquer Salmaan wishes Vijay on his birthday!!

Tamil superstar Vijay turned 43 today and wishes have been pouring in from his colleagues, fans and well wishers across the globe. Malayalam cinema’s young sensation Dulquer Salmaan wished Vijay on his birthday with a post in his official Facebook page.

Dulquer has posted a photo of him hugging Vijay and along with that wrote,

The photo was taken in the recently held awards show conducted by Behindwoods. Dulquer has previously in an interview mentioned that he is a great fan of Vijay, particularly the energy he oozes and his dance moves.

Yesterday, on the eve of Vijay’s 43rd birthday, the title and first look poster of his upcoming movie with director Atlee was released. The movie titled as Mersal has Vijay in a triple role, a first in his career.

The posters have been trending virally in social medias. Celebrities like Sivakarthikeyan, Dhanush, Arya,
Vikram Prabhu, GV Prakash Kumar, Samuthirakani and many others shared the posters along with wishing the team all success.

Mersal marks the reunion of the ‘Theri’ combo of Vijay and Atlee. Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are playing the female leads. Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan are helming the film’s screenwriting. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is handling the music department.

Mersal is slated to hit screens worldwide for this year’s Diwali in October. It is the 100th film to be funded under the prestigious banner of Sri Thenandal Films.

Kollywood star Vishal is making his debut entry in Mollywood through Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Villain. He joined the final schedule of the movie only recently. Hs playing a pivotal chracter in this movie directed by B Unnikrishnan.

Villain also stars Manju Warrier, Hansika Motwani, Telugu actor Srikanth and Raashi Khanna in prominent roles. Vishal in a recent interview revealed that he is great fan of Manju Warrier. She is playing the role of Mohanlal’s wide in the movie and Vishal has only a very few combination scenes with her.

In the interview, Vsihal is quoted saying, “I have been a big fan of Manju Warrier’s films. I don’t have major combination scenes with her in this film but it’s nice to see your name tagged along with actors like Mohanlal and Manju Warrier in the cast list.”

Vishal is playing a grey shaded role in film. He considers it as a dream entry to Mollywood as he gets to act with such big stars and play a grey shaded role, which has been his long time wish.

Villain marks director B Unnikrishnan’s fourth time collaboration with Mohanlal after Madampi, Grandmaster and Mr Fraud. The director has an ensemble line up of technicians for the movie. Cinematography is handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and NK Ekambaram. It is said to be the first Indian movie to be completely shot and released in 8K resolution. Background score is handled by Ezra fame Sushin Shyam.

Earlier, it was reported that the movie will be releasing on July 21 but now we hear that the release date has been pushed to August. We still await an official confirmation regarding the same.

Six Malayalam movies for this Eid season!

Festival seasons are always a great time to release movies. Filmmakers plan the release accordingly to cash in on the holiday season. Earlier this year, the Vishu season witnessed the release of nearly 5 movies within a gap of two weeks. Now, it’s the time for Eid and we have some highly exciting Malayalam movies lined up for release.

Prithviraj-Indrajith-Murali Gopy starrer Tiyaan, Fahadh Faasil’s long delayed Role Models, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Cinemakkaran, Also, Roshan Mathew-Prayaga Martin’s Vishwasapoorvam Mansoor, Asif Ali-Unni Mukundan-Vinay Forrt trio’s Avarude Raavukal and Fahadh-Dileesh Pothan team’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum are the six movies slated to hit screens for this Eid season.

Asif Ali’ Avarude Raavukal will be the first to hit screens on June 23. The following day, on June 24, three movies- Oru Cinemakkaran, Role Models and Vishwasapoorvam Mansoor- are scheduled to release on the same day. Fahadh Faasil and Prithviraj will have a big clash as both their movies Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Tiyaan will be releasing on June 29.

Besides these six Malayalam movies, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Tubelight and Jayam Ravi’s Vanamagan are also releasing for this season. Tubelight, directed by Bhajrangi Bhaijaan filmmaker Kabir Khan will hit screens on June 23, Friday.

Altogether, we have a mouthwatering season awaiting us this Eid. Let’s hope that all the movies manage to do good business at the box office.

After Thoppil Joppan, Mamta Mohandas will be next seen in Goodalochana

Mamta Mohandas was on a short break after her last release Thoppil Joppan. She will be next seen in a cameo role in Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Goodalochana. Eventhough it is a guest appearance, it is a very prominent character that brings about interesting changes to the story.

Goodalochana, directed by Jamna Pyari fame Thomas Sebastian marks the debut of Dhyan as a scenarist. Apart from playing the lead role, he has also written the screenplay for Anoop Joseph’s story.

Niranjana Anoop, noted for her roles in movies like Loham, Puthan Panam and C/O Saira Banu is playing the female lead in Goodalochana. Sreenath Bhasi, Aju Varghese, Hareesh Perumanna and
Oru Mexican Aparatha fame Vishnu Govindan are also part of the cast. The movie promises to be a fun filled youth centric movie. Shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Kozhikode.

Mamta Mohandas will be seen in another cameo role in Manju Warrier’s upcoming movie Udhaharanam Sujatha. The movie, directed by debutant Phantom Praveen features Mamta in the role of a district collector. She also has two other exciting projects in her kitty – debutant Nirmal Sahadev’s Detroit Crossing with Prithviraj and Munnariyippu director Venu’s Carbon opposite Fahadh Faasil.

Festival seasons are always a great time to release movies. This year’s Vishu season witnessed the release of nearly 5 movies within a gap of two weeks. Now, it’s the time for Eid and we have some highly exciting Malayalam movies lined up for release.

Prithviraj-Indrajith-Murali Gopy starrer Tiyaan, Fahadh Faasil’s long delayed Role Models, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Cinemakkaran, Asif Ali-Unni Mukundan-Vinay Forrt trio’s Avarude Raavukal and Fahadh-Dileesh Pothan team’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum are the movies slated to hit screens for this Eid season.

Avarude Raavukal will be the first to release on June 23, this Friday. The movie, written and directed by Shanil Mohammed is touted to be an youthful entertainer. Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan and Vinay Forrt essay the central characters. It is produced by Ajay Krishnan under the banner of Ajay Entertainment.

Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Cinemakkaran is also gearing up for an Eid release. The movie is directed by Leo Thaddeus of Payyans fame. Vineeth is playing the role of an aspiring filmmaker in and Rajisha Vijayan will be seen as his pair in the movie. Renji Panicker, Lal, Vijay Babu, Anusree, Murali Gopy, Lalu Alex and Harish Kanaran are also part of the cast.

Fahadh Faasil’s Role Models has long been in the making. The movie, written and directed by Rafi is touted to be a fun filled entertainer. Role Models stars Namitha Pramod as the female lead. Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen, and Srinda Arhaan play other prominent roles. Gopi Sunder has handled the music department while Shyam Dutt has cranked the camera. The movie is produced by GP Vijayakumar under the banner of Seven Arts.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum marks the rejoining of Fahadh Faasil and director Dileesh Pothen after the widely acclaimed Maheshinte Prathikaram. The movie stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Alencier Ley Lopez and debutante Nimisha Sajayan in other major roles. It is written by former journalist Sajeev Pazhoor and produced under the banner Urvashi Theatres. Rajeev Ravi has cranked the camera for this movie and Bijibal has handled the music department. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is slate to hit screens on June 29.

Tiyaan is one of the most anticipated movies of the season. The movie is written by Murali Gopi and directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar. Tiyaan has an ensemble cast that includes Prithviraj, Indrajith, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya, Ananya and Shine Tom Chacko among others. The movie is said to be a socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu. It is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have release till date. Tiyaan is produced by Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations on a budget of around Rs 25 crores. Tiyaan is also releasing on the same date as Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum on  June 29.

Apart from these movies, Salman Khan’s Tubelight and Jayam Ravi’s Vanamagan are also releasing for this season. Tubelight, directed by Bhajrangi Bhaijaan filmmaker Kabir Khan will hit screens on June 23, Friday. Altogether, we have a mouthwatering season awaiting us this Eid. Let’s hope that all the movies will be reap the desired commercial success.

The movie is titled as Mersal and the makers released another poster exactly at the stroke of 12. If the first one was more of a massy one with a rural backdrop, the new poster is glitzy and colorful.

Vijay is seen in two different looks in both the posters. He is playing a triple role in the movie, so is there a surprise third look? Let’s wait and watch.

Mersal is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. The movie marks the reunion of the blockbuster combo of Vijay and director Atlee after Theri. Mersal is a triple heroine subject in which Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen as the female leads. Filmmaker turned actor SJ Suryah plays the prime antagonist. Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala are also part of the cast.

More big news is coming in now as Santhosh Pandit has been roped in for a multilingual horror film. The movie, titled as Agalya is directed by Shijinlal. Written by Shibin Shah, this horror movie is being made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Popular actress Sonia Agarwal is playing the central character in the film. Hindi actress Leena Kapoor is also part of the movie. Santhosh Pandit will be seen in a full length humorous role. Agalya is a big budget movie which will have much prominence to special effects. Director Shibin Shah is also producing this movie under the banner Sagaram Film Company.

Santhosh Pandit is noted for single handedly working on all the departments of filmmaking including acting, direction, composing, lyric writing, singing, editing etc. Eventhough his films have been severely criticized, he remains an internet celebrity who is unfazed by the harsh reactions. Music in Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo is handled by 11 different musicians!

Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo has been in the news ever since it was officially announced. The movie marks the South Indian debut of Bollywood filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar. This bilingual movie has a plethora of actors from industries across the country. And now the director has revealed that the music is being composed by a mix of 11 different musicians, which comprises of individuals as well as bands.

Prashanth Pillai, Gaurav Godkhindi, Sooraj Kurup, Brodha V, Abhinav Bhansal, Taal Atma, Sez and popular bands like Thaikkudam bridge, Masala Coffee, Agam and Filter Coffee are composing the various tracks in the movie.

A few photos of Dulquer Salmaan as a rock band musician were leaked from the sets of Solo. The actor is sporting a multiple looks in the film, including an army man’s. Reportedly, Solo is about the four elements – Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. The director has woven these elements into four stories with love and revenge as the premise.

Solo, which is a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam, has been in the making for over 6 months now. It was shot in multiple schedules as the movie has a huge star cast and the makers had to accommodate the dates accordingly.

The movie has an ensemble star cast that includes actors from various industries. Veteran actors Nasser and Suhasini are playing Dulquer’s father in the movie. Sheelu Abraham is playing a prominent role as his sister. Bollywood actor Dino Morea, Ann Augustine, Arti Venkatesh, Sai Dhansika, Deepti Sati, Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar, Sruthi Hariharan, Manoj K Jayan, Prakash Belawadi, Bengali filmmaker Quashiq Mukherjee, Sathish, Soubin Shahir, John Vijay and many others are part of the cast.

Abraham Mathew is producing this film under the banner of Abaam Movies. An official word regarding the release date is expected in the coming days.

Multiplex issue resolved as Dileep acts as a mediator

The strike initiated by the multiplex owners over distribution share issues have finally been resolved. The decision was taken after the multiplex representatives attended a meeting with a core committe of the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) headed by Dileep, producers association and the exhibitors association.

The profit share issue has been a long standing one. The multiplexes have been demanding a hike in the theatre shares for sometime now.
PVR Lulu Mall Kochi, Cinepolis Centre Square Mall, PVR Oberon Mall Kochi and Thrissur Shobha INOX were all on strike.

The meeting waa held in Kochi today to ensure that Eid releases are not affected. With the strike finally coming to an end, all the Eid release will be screened in the multiplexes.
