“Most people look at Vijay as a mass actor. But, I’ve seen him perform. He’s an outstanding actor. I’ve noticed a lot of things during shooting. His sense of continuity is brilliant. He will know even the minutest details like where and how he kept his hand or leg during a particular shot. Whether the assistant director remembers or not, he will know. I had the great joy of watching him improvise. In the whole Europe schedule, I was there every day on set. So, I could see him improvise, and it’s a treat. He has a charm of him which crosses borders and boundaries,” Hema told PTI.

Hema adds that the movie has come out really well. She confirms that the audience will love Vijay even more after watching the movie. Three-fourths of the movie is complete and shoot for the remaining portions are currently underway.

Bobby Simha to play the villain in Vikram’s in Saamy 2

We had earlier reported that director Hari will be teaming up with Vikram for the sequel of their 2003 blockbuster Saamy. Shibu Thameens, who previously produced Vikram’s Irumugan, will be funding this movie.

Vikram will be reprising his role of Aarusaaamy, the honest and tough cop. Trisha and Keerthy Suresh have been signed to play the female leads. Latest development in the camp is that, Bobby Simha has been roped in to play the antagonist.

Saamy, released in 2003 was a cop action movie. Kota Srinivasa Rao played the antagonist in the movie. His terrific performance as Perumal Pichai is remembered by the audience even today. So it will be a hard task for Bobby Simha to justify his casting.

In a recent interview, director Hari assured that Bobby Simha’s role will be 10 times more intense than Perumal Pichai’s role. Bobby’s role will be as competitive as the lead role of Vikram. He will be sporting two different looks for his role and his combination scenes with Vikram will be the movie’s highlight.

Bobby Simha is known for his power packed performance in roles with grey shades. His amazing portrayal of a Madurai based gangster in Jigarthanda won him a National award for best supporting actor. It will be awesome to watch two great performers like Vikram and Bobby locking horns with each other. Saamy 2 is expected to start rolling as soon as Vikram wraps up his prior commitments. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to handle the music department for this movie.

Vikram, meanwhile, is busy shooting for Gautham Menon’s spy thriller Dhurva Natchathiram. He recently finished shooting his portions for Sketch, an upcoming mass entertainer directed by Vaalu fame Vijay Chander.

Mohanlal lends his voice for Prithviraj’s Tiyaan!

Tiyaan is highly anticipated for many reasons; the talented sibling duo of Prithviraj and Indrajith are teaming up, Murali Gopy’s powerful writing and the massive scale at which the movie is made. Here’s one more reason to further raise the expectation bar. Mohanlal will be narrating the movie and he has already finished dubbing for his portions.

Tiyaan, directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, will be narrated with Mohanlal’s voice-over. Earlier this year, Mohanlal had also lent his voice for a prominent character in Manju Warrier’s C/O Saira Banu.

It must be remembered that the Tiyaan team of Prithviraj and Murali Gopy will be working with Mohanlal next year for the much anticipated Lucifer. The movie, which will mark the directorial debut of Prithviraj, is scripted by Murali Gopy and stars Mohanlal in the lead role. Perhaps, that rapport has helped them to rope in Mohanlal to lend his voice in Tiyaan.

The movie boasts of a stellar star cast. Apart from the two lead actors, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya, Ananya, North Indian actress Mrudula Sathe, veteran actor Ranjeeth, Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi are also part of the cast.

Tiyaan is a socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu. It is the story of two youths who get caught in the religious clashes in North India. Prithviraj is playing the role of Aslan Mohammed and Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman. Murali Gopy will be seen in a new makeover as Ramkant Mahasay.

Tiyaan is made on a budget movie, produced by Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations. They have invested around Rs 25 crores for the movie. It is all set to hit screens on June 29.

Vikram Vedha; Shah Rukh Khan launches Vijay Sethupathi-Madhavan movie’s trailer

Vikram Vedha, directed by the husband-wife filmmakers Pushkar and Gayathri is one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. The movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and Madhavan in the leads is highly anticipated by the audience thanks to the intense first look posters and teaser.

Vikram Vedha’s trailer was launched today by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Sivakarthikeyan.

Shah Rukh tweeted, “To all my Tamil friends here’s the dynamic trailer of my friend Maddy’s film #VikramVedha @ActorMadhavan @sash041075.”

Siva Karthikeyan tweeted, “Happy to release @ActorMadhavan sir & #Vijaysethupathi ‘s #VikramVedhaTrailer –http://youtu.be/1sVr-uWZPj Wishes to @sash041075 & full team”

The trailer is centred around the two central characters-Vikram, a cop played by Madhavan and Vedha, a gangster played by Vijay Sethupathi. Eventhough the story of a cop trying to put an end to a criminal sounds clichéd, what makes it interesting is that both the characters have some grey shades to them.

Vikram Vedha is produced by Y Not Studios. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Shraddha Srinath, Harish Perady and Kathir are also playing pivotal roles. Debutant Sam CS has handled the music department. It is worth a mention that his score in both the teaser as well as the trailer is highly impressive. The makers are yet to announce the release date.

Keerthy Suresh’s art work for Vijay on his birthday!

It’s Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s 43rd birthday and wishes have been pouring in from his colleagues, fans and well wishers from across the globe. Several fan made posters, mash-up videos and designs are doing the rounds in social medias.

But here’s something much more interesting. Actress Keerthy Suresh has also made a design, in fact a painting of Vijay. It’s a stunning piece of work to say the least. At the bottom, she has also written, “May the success journey continue..from one of your millions of fans.”

It is worth a mention that Keerthy is a graduate in fashion designing from the Pearl Academy in Chennai. Despite making a successful career in acting, she has stated in many interviews that she is seriously considering a career in designing.

Keerthy Suresh worked with Vijay in the mass entertainer Bhairavaa, that was released earlier this year. Eventhough the movie failed to do great business at the box office, the lead pair’s chemistry was appreciated.

Yesterday, on the eve of Vijay’s birthday, the title and first look poster of his upcoming movie with director Atlee was released. The movie, titled as Mersal has Vijay in a triple role, a first in his career. Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are playing the female leads. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is handling the music department for this movie. Mersal is slated to hit screens worldwide for this year’s Diwali in October.

I’m an overrated filmmaker: Dileesh Pothan

I’m an overrated filmmaker: Dileesh Pothan

Last year, Dileesh Pothan, without any hype, made heads turn with his debut directorial Maheshinte Prathikaram. Dileesh was a noted actor before he made his first film. Not many knew were aware of his calibre as a filmmaker and he showed it with his very first film itself. The movie went on to win several awards at the State and National level.

Now, the Maheshinte Prathikaram team of Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil are awaiting the release of their next outing, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. As they are teaming up once again, expectations are massive for the movie among the audience.

Dileesh Pothan was widely appreciated for his directorial skills in Maheshinte Prathikaram. His meticulously detailed filmmaking and visual storytelling style was popularly termed as “Pothettan’s brilliance” by the Malayali cine buffs in social medias.

However, the humble Dileesh Pothan feels that he is overrated as a filmmaker. He said it in a recent interview to The Hindu, while talking about all the praise he received for his first film. The director explains that all he is trying to do is communicate a story that he visualise in his head, into something better for the audience. The attention to detail, that he is famous for, is something he feels is very necessary in visual storytelling.

He is quoted saying, “If there is a curtain or a prop that communicates the story, the character(s), his or her situation, then I retain it. If it takes the flow out of the visuals and proves to be a distraction, I take it out.”

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum stars Fahadh Faasil, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Alencier Ley Lopez and debutante Nimisha Sajayan in major roles. It is written by former journalist Sajeev Pazhoor and is produced under the banner of Urvashi Theatres. Rajeev Ravi has cranked the camera and Bijibal has handled the music department. The movie is slated to hit screens on June 29.
