Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie Mersal with director Atlee is in the final stages of post production. The movie is slated to hit scenes for this year’s Diwali in October. Now, reports coming in from Kollywood media suggest that Vijay has committed for his next film director AR Murugadoss. Speculations about their teaming up have been doing the rounds for sometime now.

According to latest reports, Sun Pictures is returning back to production after seven long years by funding this high-profile project. Their last production was the all time blockbuster Enthiran, released back in 2010. Vijay and Murugadoss have an enviable track record with both their previous collaborations; Thuppakki and Kaththi entering the Rs 100 crore club.

Murugadoss is a filmmaker who knows how to utilize the acting potential and star power of Vijay correctly. So when the blockbuster duo join hands for the third time, expectations are sure to go sky high. Reportedly, their upcoming movie will start rolling in October.

Meanwhile, the final schedule of Vijay’s Mersal is progressing at a brisk pace. He is playing a triple role in the movie, which is a first in his career. Nithya Menen, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Agarwal are the three female leads. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is handling the music department. Mersal is the 100th film to be funded under the prestigious banner of Sri Thenandal Films.

Thala Ajith’s much awaited spy-thriller Vivegam is gearing up to hit screens in August, this year. The movie marks the third time union of Ajith with director Siruthai Siva after Veeram and Vedhalam.

Vivegam is Ajith’s first release in two years and the movie’s highly impressive teaser has increased the expectations multifold. Ajith is playing the role of a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent in the movie. He has undergone a terrific make over for the movie by shedding down a lot of extra pounds.

Vivegam is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 120 crores. The team shot across the globe in countries like Romania, Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia. Many artists and technicians from the west are also associated with this project. This big budget movie is produced by Satya Jyothi Films.

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is making his Tamil debut by playing a prominent role in the movie. He will be seen a powerful parallel role. Kajal Agarwal is playing the female lead while Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara Haasan is also playing a pivotal character.

Vetri has handled the cinematography while young sensation Anriudh Ravichander has composed the music. Recently, the distribution rights for Vivegam in Kerala was acquired by Mulakupadam Films for a whopping Rs 4.25 crores, the biggest ever for an Ajith starrer in Kerala.

Why Tiyaan is one of the most anticipated movies of the season?

Tiyaan is easily one of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year. The reasons for the same are aplenty. The talented siblings Prithviraj and Indrajith are teaming up. Both the actors have mentioned their characters in Tiyaan as the most complex and challenging ones they ever had to perform.

The movie is written by Murali Gopy. He has proved his calibre as a scenarist with his powerful writings in movies like Ee Adutha Kaalathu and Left Right Left. Besides that he is also playing a pivotal part as Ramakant Mahasay.

Tiyaan boasts of a huge star cast that includes Padmapriya, Ananya, Shine Tom Chacko, Mrudula Sathe, veteran Hindi actor Ranjeeth, Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi and many others.

Tiyaan is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have released till date. The movie is a socio-political drama and it’s plot is set in the North Indian milieu. Huge sets resembling the North Indian locales were erected in the Ramoji Rao Film City, where the team shot for around 100 days in different schedules. Tiyaan is the only movie after Baahubali to be shot for such long periods in the film city. The movie was shot in locations like Nasik, Varanasi, Ladakh etc. They filmed the famous Kumbh Mela live in 2015. Several shots were filmed amidst 1000 or more artists in live locations. Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations funded the movie with a budget of around Rs 25 crores.

And to top it all, superstar Mohanlal has lent his voice for the movie’s narration. The movie, directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar is a mix genre attempt, which is a first in Malayalam cinema. The promos have not yet revealed anything about it’s plot and that has piqued the curiosity of the audience. From whatever we get to see in the promos, we can presume that Tiyaan will be a new experience for the Malayali audience.

The title and first look poster of Vijay’s upcoming movie was announced on the eve of his 43rd birthday. The movie, titled as Mersal marks the reunion of director Atlee with Vijay after the blockbuster success of Theri. The first look posters were trending across all social media platforms. 

According to latest reports, the movie’s Telugu version has been titled as Adirindhi. Vijay enjoys great popularity in the twin Telugu states and the presence of actors like Sathyaraj, Nithya Menen, Samantha and Kajal Agarwal will surely grab the attention of the audience. Also, Baahubali’s writer Vijendra Prasad is associated with this Vijay film and hence it is expected to have a good opening.

Vijay is playing a triple role for the first time in his career. Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen as the female leads.

Vijay will be seen sporting multiple looks in the movie. Filmmaker turned actor SJ Suryah plays the prime antagonist. Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala are also part of the cast.

Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have helmed the film’s screenwriting. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is composing the music for this movie.

Mersal is scheduled to release worldwide for this year’s Diwali. It is the 100th film to be funded under the prestigious banner of Sri Thenandal Films.

Asif Ali’s upcoming movie Sunday Holiday is gearing up for release. The movie is directed by Bicycle Thieves fame Jis Joy. Official trailer for the movie was released today.

The trailer is very promising and it has a feel-good nature. It features Sreenivasan’s character trying to narrate a script to director Lal Jose, who is hospitalized. The movie is being made as a tribute to Sreenivasan and is dedicated to all the aspiring film makers.

Sunday Holiday has two female leads in Aparna Balamurali and Pretham fame Shruti Ramachandran. Alencier Ley Lopez, Siddique, Nirmal Palazhy, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, KPAC Lalitha and Sudheer Karamana are playing supporting characters in the movie.

Director Jis Joy has also written the movie. Alex J Pulickal has cranked the camera while Deepak Dev is handling the music department. Ratheesh Raj is in charge of the edits. Sunday Holiday is produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of Maqtro Pictures.

Clash of superstars for this Onam!

Festival seasons are always a great time to release movies. Filmmakers plan their movies’ release accordingly to cash in on the holiday season. Earlier this year, the Vishu season saw the release of 5 movies within a gap of two weeks. For Eid, six Malayalam movies are slated to hit screens. Next in line is the Onam period. As per reports, this year’s Onam season will witness a rare phenomenon, the clash of four leading stars of Mollywood- Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj and Dulquer Salmaan.

Mammootty-Shyam Dhar team’s untitled movie, Prithviraj’s Adam Joan, Mohanlal-Lal Jose team’s Velipadinte Pusthakam and Soubin Shahir’s Parava, in which Dulquer has played an extended cameo, are the four biggies scheduled to hit screens for this Onam.

Parava marks the debut directorial of actor turned filmmaker Soubin Shahir. The movie stars Kismath fame Shane Nigam and some newcomers in the lead roles. Harisree Ashokan’s son Arjun Ashokan and Sainudeen’s son Dhinil Sainudeen are making their debut in cinema with Parava. Dulquer Salmaan is playing a cameo role in this movie. He will be seen in a new look with a moustache-less wild bear. Though it’s a cameo role, his character will be of great importance in the storyline. Parava is jointly scripted by Soubin Shahir and Muneer Ali. Little Swayamp, noted for his works in the music band Thaikkudam Bridge’s Navarasa series, is cranking the camera in Parava. Anwar Rasheed has produced this movie under the banner of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.

Mohanlal and Lal Jose are finally teaming after years of speculation with Velipadinte Pusthakam. The movie, written by Benny P Nayarambalam is a campus based entertainer in which Mohanlal will be seen as a college vice-principal. He is playing the role of professor Mathew Idicula. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is the movie’s female lead. Anoop Menon, Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun Kurian, Priyanka Nair, Siddique, Alencier Ley Lopez and many other supporting actors are also part of the cast. The movie is produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas.

7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s upcoming movie stars Mammootty in the lead role. The superstar is playing the role of an Idukki native in the movie. His character Rajakumaran, is an instructor in a teacher training institute. The core plot of the movie is centred around the events happening after he joins a government institute in Kochi. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sarath are playing the female leads. Innocent, Dileesh Pothen, Hareesh Perumanna and Sohan Seenulal are also part of the cast. This yet-to-be titled movie is written by newbie Ratheesh Ravi. Vinod Ilampally has cranked the camera while M Jayachandran is composing the songs. B Rakesh is producing this movie under the banner of Universal Cinemas.

Prithviraj’s Adam Joan is another movie that is scheduled to release for the Onam season. The movie, which marks the debut directorial of writer Jinu Abraham is touted to be a revenge thriller. He has previously scripted two Prithviraj starrers; Masters and London Bridge. Adam Joan stars stars Bhavana, Narain, Rahul Madhav and Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty Siddique, Lena, Jaya Menon and Baby Abida Hussain, who played Akshay Kumar’s daughter in Airlift. Adam Joan is being produced by Brijeesh Mohamed, Josemon Simon and Nihal.

Apart from above mentioned movies, a few other films are also expected to join the race at the final moment. Altogether, a sumptuous Onam season awaits all movie lovers of the state.

Shane Nigam, who has given some highly impressive performances in movies like Kismath and C/O Saira Banu, has signed for a new project.
Noted editor B Ajithkumar is directing this upcoming movie titled as Eeda.

National award winning cinematographer- turned- filmmaker Rajeev Ravi is producing this movie under the banner of Collective Phase One. Eeda is a Kannur-Kozhikode slang for ‘Ivide’, which means here. Reportedly, the movie will be a rustic rural entertainer.

B Ajithkumar is a national award winning editor who has worked in several acclaimed films like Ottal, Liar’s Dice, Naalu Pennungal etc. He has also collaborated with Rajeev Ravi in all the three films that the latter has directed; Annayum Rasoolum, Njan Steve Lopez and Kammattipadam.

Shane Nigam has also acted in Rajeev Ravi’s Annayum Rasoolum and Kammattipadam in brief roles. His last release was C/O Saira Banu, in which he played a major role alongside Manju Warrier and Amala Akkineni. The movie received average response at the box office. Shane’s next release will be Parava, the debut directorial of Soubin Shahir. Dulquer Salmaan is playing an extended cameo in the movie.

Malayalam cinema is currently in a phase where the doors of opportunities are wide open for newcomers. The smashing success of Angamaly Diaries has further boosted the arrival of freshers to the film industry.

E4 Entertainment, a production house known for introducing many young talents, are coming up with another movie with a bunch of newcomers. As per our sources, this yet to be titled movie will mostly comprise of newcomers in both the cast as well as the crew.

From what we get to know from our sources, this upcoming movie will have a very unique treatment and story telling pattern. Recently, an audition was conducted by Plan B Infotainments from which 30 newcomers were selected. An acting workshop is currently underway in Kochi to groom these young talents.

E4 Entertainment, as a production house have funded many experimental films like North 24 Kaatham, Guppy, Ezra and more recently Godha. So we can certainly be assured of another quality movie from the banner.

Noted Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu announced his next movie on Friday with a quirky motion poster. The movie titled as Party, has a huge star cast that is a mix of some veterans and youngsters. Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Jai, Shiva, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sampath, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan, Sanchita Shetty and Regina Cassandra are playing the lead roles in the movie.

Jayaram has previously worked with Venkat Prabhu in Saroja, his second directorial. He played the antagonist’s role in the movie. Venkat Prabhu knows the pulse of the Tamil audience and he is known for churning out commercial entertainers.

Some of his movies like Chennai 600028, Saroja and Mankatha were all hugely successful. The director, after starting his career with youngsters soon began moved to the big league by working with stars like Ajith, Suriya and Karthi. Apart from Mankatha, the other two movies – Massu and Biriyani – were box office failures.

Venkat Prabhu got back to winning ways with the sequel of his debut movie Chennai 600028. Even though, the sequel could not match up to the first part, it was entertaining and emerged commercially successful. With the title and the ensemble cast he has assembled for his new movie, Party, we can easily make out that this one will be another clean commercial package.

Venkat Prabhu’s brother Premgi Amaren will be composing the music for the film. Rajesh Yadav will be cranking the camera and Praveen KL will take care of the edits in Party.

Guinness Pakru has been away from movies for a while now. He is still a familiar face in various Television reality shows. Guinness Pakru aka Ajayakumar is making a comeback by playing the lead in an animation movie.

Veerapakru is an upcoming animation film in which Guinness Pakru will be playing the protagonist. The first look poster of the movie was unveiled recently by actor Tovino Thomas via his social media page. Along with the poster, Tovino wrote,

‘I am excited to unveil this animation movie’s poster.

Guinness Pakru in and as Veerapakru !!! All the best to the team!’

Veerapakru is written and directed by Sujith Ayyappan. Newbie Dev has composed the music. The movie is produced by Asura Creations.

Ajay Kumar became Guinness Pakru after he made an entry into the Guinness Book of Records for being the shortest actor to play a full length character in a movie. He achieved this feat by playing one of the central characters in Albhutha Dweep, directed by Vinayan.

Guinness Pakru made his directorial debut with the movie Kuttiyum Kolum, released in 2013. He once again entered the Guinness book for being the shortest person in the world to direct a full length movie.

Besides that he has also won the Kerala State Film Award (Special Jury Award) for his perfomance in Albhutha Dweep and Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for Dishyum.
