Aravind Akash as the ‘real’ Rajinikanth in Kaala

Superstar Rajinikanth is currently shooting in Mumbai for his upcoming movie Kaala. This gangster flick is directed by Pa Ranjth, marking his second consecutive film with the superstar after Kabali.

Kaala is about a guy from Tirunelveli, who runs away in his childhood to Mumbai to become a powerful don living in the slums of Dharavi. Rajinikanth is playing the titular role in the movie.

Aravind Akash, noted for his roles in movies like Chennai 600028, Mankatha etc is essaying the role of a Marathi police officer in the film. Interestingly, his character in the movie named as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, which, as we all know, is the actual birth name of Rajinikanth. Such a big opportunity for the youngster to act alongside the superstar and that too with his real name.

Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has been roped in to play the female lead. Multiple national award winner Nana Patekar is playing a pivotal part in the film. He will be seen in the role of a cunning politician who works against the interest of Tamils in Mumbai, who are headed by Rajinikanth’s Kaala.
Samuthirakani, Anjali Patil, Sukanya, Ramesh Thilak and Sampath Raj are also part of the cast.

Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is producing Kaala under his banner Wunderbar Films. The movie will be dubbed and released in Hindi and Telugu as well. The makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by the end of the year and are planning to release it by mid 2018.

Mohanlal’s Drishyam is one of the biggest ever blockbusters in Malayalam cinema. The Jeethu Joseph directorial was released in 2013 and it emerged as the highest grossing Malayalam movie of that time. After successful remakes in Tamil, Telugu, Kananda and Hindi, the movie is now getting a Chinese version.

Drishyam is a family drama cum thriller in which Mohanlal played the role of Georgekutty and Meena played his wife’s role Rani. At a particular point, the family has to face a situation that can ruin all their lives. How the family get themselves out of it forms the crux of the story.

Now, as per reports, producer Antony Perumbavoor is planning to dub the movie in Chinese. Presently, Indian movies are having a great market in China. Aamir Khan’s Dangal is doing phenomenal business in the country raking in over Rs 1200 crores from the Chinese box office. Will Drishyam appeal to the Chinese audience? Let’s wait and see.

Post production works for Mammootty’s upcoming movie with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar is progressing at a brisk pace. In the meanwhile, some online portals had reported that the movie has been titled as Lalitham Sundaram. However, the director has vehemently denied it. We hear that the makers have zeroed in on a title and they will be revealing it along with the first look poster within a week.

Mammootty is playing the role of an Idukki native in the movie. His character Rajakumaran, is an instructor in a teacher training institute. He is an Idukki native who comes to Kochi as a teacher’s trainer. He is a very jovial person who considers every student of his as a child. His students love his lectures as he connects and explains everything with an interesting anecdote. He is a fabulous story teller and the film will reveal the reasons for the same.

The core plot of the movie is centred around the events happening after he joins a government institute in Kochi. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sarath are playing the female leads.
The latter is also playing the role of a teacher in this movie. Innocent, Dileesh Pothen, Hareesh Perumanna and Sohan Seenulal are also part of the cast.

The movie is written by newbie Ratheesh Ravi. Vinod Ilampally has cranked the camera while M Jayachandran is composing the songs for this movie. B Rakesh is producing this movie under the banner of Universal Cinemas. The movie is slated to hit screens for this year’s Onam season.

As we are just hours away from the inaguration of Kerala’s dream project- Kochi metro, here is a happy news for all cine lovers out there. A movie is being made based on Kochi metro with Rima Kallingal in the lead role. The movie titled as Arabi Kadalinte Rani- The Metro Woman, is directed by M Padmakumar and scriptwriter Suresh Babu. The latter has also co-written the movie with MU Pradeep.

Kochi Metro’s top advisor E Sreedharan is popularly known as ‘Metro Man’. This movie is about a woman’s huge admiration for the metro man and her attempts to meet him. Rima Kallingal is playing the protagonist’s role of PK Lalitha, a sales girl who hails from Tripunithura.

Anoop Menon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Arun Narayan, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Srinda Arhaan and Sheelu Abraham are also part of the cast. A prominent actor from Mollywood is playing the role of metro man, who is named as E Madhavan in the film.

Veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan has been roped in to crank the camera. Vinod Sukumaran will be editing the movie. The movie will be officially launched tomorrow on the occasion of Kochi Metro’s opening to the public. VJ Films International is producing this movie.

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion is gearing up for a huge release in China. After a lot pondering, the makers have finally locked the release date. The Prabhas – Rana starrer will be releasing on September 17 across 4000 screens in China.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala confirmed the release date via his Twitter page. He also revealed that the star cast of the film will be soon flying to the China as part of promotions. The movie is also releasing in other foreign countries including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

Ramesh Bala tweeted,

“#Baahubali2 will release in #China in Sep’17 in 4,000 Screens.. BO Target: ¥300M ($44.1 Million).. Stars will go to #China for Promotions..”

In 2015, Baahubali: The Beginning was released in a whopping 6000 screens in the China. However, the movie could not live up to the hype as it failed to impress the Chinese audience. This is perhaps why the theatre count is lesser this year.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan’s Dangal is continuing it’s stupendous run in China. The sports drama was released on May 5 in the country. Within a month from it’s release, Dangal created history by earning over Rs 1000 crores at the Chinese box office. It became the 33rd film in Chinese cinema history to cross one Billion RMB, which in Indian currency amounts to about Rs 1000 crore. It is currently the highest earning non- Hollywood film in the country.

As per latest reports, Dangal has around Rs 1200 crores in China. Apart from that, it has also earned around Rs 40 crores at the Taiwanese box office. Globally, the movie has earned around Rs 1980 crores and is expected to surpass the Rs 2000 crore mark by the end of this week.

With Dangal getting excellent response in the country, it will be tough for Baahubali 2 to do rich business at the Chinese markets.

SS Rajamouli’s action epic drama Baahubali: The Conclusion has emerged as the biggest blockbuster in India. The movie, released on April 28 has already broken several box office records.

Baahubali 2 has crossed the 50 days theatrical run and the makers have released a new trailer for the occasion. The 26 second teaser gives a sneak peak of almost all the major scenes in the movie.

The movie has crossed the 1600 crore mark at the box office from its earnings in all the versions. According to reports, Baahubali 2 has earned around Rs 1355 crores in India from all the langues. The movie was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi languages.

Baahubali 2’s Hindi version has scripted a new record by becoming the first ever Hindi film to earn Rs 500 crores. It is the first Indian film to have earned Rs 500 crore in any language in the domestic market. The Hindi version alone has grossed a whopping Rs 730 crores while the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions gross is amounted to Rs 625 crores, taking the India total of the movie to Rs 1355 crores.

Baahubali 2 has also become the first movie to gross over Rs 300 crores in the twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In the overseas market, the film has earned around Rs 313 crores gross, thus taking its worldwide total to 1667 crores.

After a lot pondering, the makers have finally locked the movie’s release date in China. The Prabhas – Rana starrer will be releasing on September 17 across 4000 screens in the country.

Dulquer has been shooting with Bollywood actress Neha Sharma for the past one week. The actress posted few selfies that she took with Mollywood’s hot favourite, in her official Facebook page. Director Bejoy Nambiar and DOP Girish Gangadharan are also seen with them. Neha Sharma is noted for roles in films like Teri Meri Kahaani, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, Youngistaan etc.

Solo is about the four elements – Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. Bejoy Nambiar has woven these elements into four stories with love and revenge as the premise. Dulquer is sporting multiple looks for this movie. For this final schedule in Lonavala, he is sporting an army man’s look with closely trimmed hair and thick moustache.

Bejoy Nambiar has pulled off a casting coup of sorts by assembling some big names from across the industries. Bollywood actor Dino Morea, Parthiban, Suhasini, Nasser, Ann Augustine, Arti Venkatesh, Dhansika, Deepti Sati and Marati actress Sai Tamhankar, Sruthi Hariharan, Prakash Belawadi, Bengali filmmaker Quashiq Mukherjee, Manoj K Jayan, Sathish, Soubin Shahir, John Vijay and many others are part of the cast.

Abraham Mathew is producing this film under the banner of Abaam Movies in association with Getaway Films. An official word regarding the release date is expected as soon as the shoot is completed.

The Tamil remake of Malayalam cinema’s biggest ever blockbuster Pulimurugan is hitting screens today (June 16). The movie is releasing in 305 centres all over Tamil Nadu.

Despite being a dubbed movie, Pulimurugan has managed to get 300+ centres which is indeed phenomenal. This is reportedly one of the biggest ever release for a dubbed movie in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, the movie’s Tamil trailer had garnered excellent response from the viewers. RP Bala has written the Tamil dialogues and interestingly, Mohanlal himself has dubbed in Tamil for the movie.

The theatrical rights for Pulimurugan’s Tamil version was acquired by PK Narayanaswamy who has earlier distributed movies like Theri and Bairavaa in the regional areas. It is said that the theatrical rights was brought for a record price for a dubbed movie.

The sucess of Pulimurugan’s Telugu version- Manyam Puli has given positive hopes for the makers. Manyam Puli did an overall business of over 15 crores from the earnings in the twin states of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh.

Pulimurugan has an universally appealing story about man vs wild. The movie is centred around the protagonist Murugan,who is known in the locality for hunting down man eating tigers. Since the plot is an universal one, it will be easy for audience irrespective of any language to connect with the movie.

Mohanlal’s stunning performance in the fight scenes and the terrifically shot sequences involving the tigers are the movie’s major attractions. Tomichan Mulakupadam produced this big budget movie under the banner of Mulakupadam Films.

Basil is marrying his long time girlfriend Elizabeth Samuel. They have been in a relationship for over seven years now. They both were college mates in the College of Engineering, Trivandrum.

Basil was a noted short filmmaker before entering the industry. Impressed by some of his works, Vineeth Sreenivasan offered him a chance to assist in Thira.

The 27 year old filmmaker made his directorial debut in 2015 with the fun filled entertainer Kunjiramayanam. The movie starring Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan was a sleeper success.

Basil’s recent release, Godha has won him a lot of appreciation.
