Charlie writer Unni R’s next titled as Prathi Poovankozhi

Unni R, who has written acclaimed movies like Munnariyippu and Charlie will be next working with a bunch of youngsters. He has written the story and screenplay for a new movie titled as Prathi Poovankozhi.

Nee Ko Njaa Chaa fame Ko Njaa Chaa fame Gireesh Mano will be directing this film. The movie will have a bunch of newcomers in the lead roles. Shebin Becker, who has funded movies like Charlie and Take Off is producing this film.

Director Gireesh is currently busy working on his upcoming movie Lava Kusha starring Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, Biju Menon and Deepti Sati in major roles. The movie marks the debut of Neeraj Madhav as a scenarist and it is touted to be a comedy spy thriller.

Unni R meanwhile has finished scripting for the upcoming Dulquer Salmaan starrer Oru Bhayankara Kamukan. Lal Jose will be directing this movie, touted to be a rural entertainer. This movie will also be funded by Shebin Becker. It was supposed to go on floors much earlier but was postponed due to Dulquer’s prior commitments.

Dulquer Salmaan as Sukumara Kuruppu; Teams up with Second Show fame Srinath Rajendran

Dulquer Salmaan has just announced a biggie. He will be playing the lead in Second Show fame Srinath Rajendran’s upcoming movie. What is even more interesting is that, the movie is based on the real life story of the most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup.

The actor wrote on his Facebook page,

So at long last. Nearly 6 years later I reunite with my brother Srinath Rajendran the director of my debut film Second Show for a very ambitious film. I think we’ve discussed this during Second Show. But I guess everything has its own time. Early 2018 we hope to go on the floors with this film. And it’s something I’m super super thrilled about. Happy to share this with all of you.

Dulquer Salmaan is playing Sukumara Kurup’s role in the film. An intriguing poster has also been unveiled, which features a man staring at a mirror. It is shot from the back and the man, probably Dulquer himself, is sporting an 80s coiffure. The poster has some intriguing elements; eventhough the person is staring at the mirror, his reflection is not there to be seen. The makers have also deliberately used the term ‘conning’ soon instead of ‘coming’ soon. This is exactly what the whole story is about!

Sukumara Kurup is a most wanted-criminal, accused in the murder of Chacko in the year 1984. Chacko was strangled to death and his body was burnt inside a car. Sukumara Kurup, who was 38 then, allegedly committed the crime to fake his own death and claim an insurance amount of Rs 8 lakhs by killing Chacko who bore an uncanny resemblance with him. Sukumara Kurup is supposed to have fled abroad after the incident. He has been absconding for over thirty years now. The Chacko murder case is one of the long standing cases in the judicial history of Kerala.

Tiyaan release date announced

Tiyaan, one of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year, is all set to release for this Eid season. This multistarrer directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar will hit screens on June 29.

Tiyaan, written by Murali Gopy, is one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have released till date. The movie boasts of a stellar star cast that includes Prithviraj, Indrajith, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya, Ananya and many others.

Tiyaan is socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu. It is the story of two youths who get caught in the religious clashes in North India. The team shot for months in North Indian places like Varanasi, Ladakh etc. They filmed the famous Kumbh Mela live in 2015. Several shots was filmed amidst 1000 artists in live locations.

Prithviraj is playing the role of Aslan Mohammed and Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman. Murali Gopy will be seen in a new makeover as Ramkant Mahasay. North Indian actress Mrudula Sathe is playing Prithviraj’s wife in the movie. Bollywood actor Ranjeeth, Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi are also part of the cast.

Tiyaan is produced by Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations. They have invested around Rs 25 crores for the movie. The movie’s promos have not revealed anything about it’s plot and that has piqued the curiosity of the audience. If the promos are anything to go by, Tiyaan will be a new experience for the Malayali audience. All eyes on June 29!

Mammootty and Siddique share a brotherly relationship. They have been working together for almost three decades now. In a recent interview, Siddique opened up about how Mammootty has influenced him as an actor and the things that he learnt from the the superstar.

Siddique is quoted saying, “I have learnt many things from Mammookka. How to be an actor, what all should be done for an actor’s growth, how to maintain body language, check our audio level and many other things. I have picked up all this up very seriously from Mammookka. Only an actor like him can advise us with such things. We cannot just learn all these stuff from any director.”

Siddique was last seen with Mammootty in Ranjith’s Puthan Panam. Other than that they have shared screen space in several other movies like Vathsalyam, New Delhi, Nair Saab, Pokkiri Raja, Kasaba and many other films.

The third schedule of Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Villain has commenced. Popular Tamil actor Vishal and Hansika Motwani are also part of this leg of shooting. A photo from the movie’s location is trending in social media platforms. Vishal, Hansika and director B Unnikrishnan are also seen with Mohanlal.

Villain is a crime thriller featuring Mohanlal as Mathew Manjooran, a retired police officer. Manju Warrier is playing his wife’s role in the movie. Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Srikanth and Raashi Khanna are playing pivotal characters.

Apart from an star studded cast, Villian also has a strong technical team. Popular cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is cranking the camera while VFX technicians from Poland are also part of the team. The movie is being shot completely in 8K resolution, which is a first in Malayalam cinema.

Rockline Venkatesh who has produced films like Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and Lingaa is producing this movie. Songs are composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics while background score is being handled by Sushin Shyam. Shameer Mohammed of Charlie and Angamaly Diaries fame is in charge of the edits.

Villian marks the marks his fourth time collaboration of B Unnikrishnan with Mohanlal after Madampi, Grandmaster and Mr Fraud. The movie is slated to hit screens on July 21.

The Tamil remake of Malayalam cinema’s biggest ever blockbuster Pulimurugan is gearing up for release. The movie is all to hit screens this Friday (June 16).

Eventhough there were some initial apprehensions about the theatre count, the movie has taken everyone by surprise by getting over 300 theatres. This is reportedly one of the biggest ever release for a dubbed movie.

Earlier, the movie’s Tamil trailer had garnered excellent response from the viewers. RP Bala has written the Tamil dialogues and interestingly, Mohanlal himself has dubbed in Tamil for the movie.

The theatrical rights for Pulimurugan’s Tamil version was acquired by PK Narayanaswamy who has earlier distributed movies like Theri and Bairavaa in the regional areas. It is said that the theatrical rights was brought for a record price for a dubbed movie.

Last year, the Telugu version of Pulimurugan- Manyam Puli received phenomenal response from the Telugu audience. The movie did an overall business of over 15 crores. So, the makers naturally have pinned high expectations on the Tamil verison.

Pulimurugan has an universally appealing story about man vs wild. The lead character Murugan is a wild hunter who hunts down man eating tigers in the locality. Since the plot is an universal one, it will be easy for audience irrespective of any language to connect with the movie.

Mohanlal’s amazing performance in the fight scenes and the terrifically shot sequences involving the tigers are the USP the movie. Pulimurugan, written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh was released on October 7. The movie had a record box office run earning over Rs 150 crores. Tomichan Mulakupadam produced this big budget movie under the banner of Mulakupadam Films.

Celebrity kids following their parents’ footsteps to enter the world of movies is a very common thing from the past itself. The trend has been prevalent in industries like Bollywood from the 70s period itself where the Kapoor clan ruled the roost.

Mollywood also has it’s share of celebrity kids like Prithviraj, Indrajith, Dulquer Salmaan, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Kalidas Jayaram, Gokul Suresh, Fahadh Faasil, Keerthy Suresh and many others.

In a recent interview, actor Rahman said that both his daughters, Rushda and Alisha are interested in acting and they might pursue a career in films. Rushda is an MBA graduate while her younger sister Alisha is studying in 9th standard. He remarked that both of them will definitely be entering the film industry when offered with good roles.

Rushda is a huge fan of Mollywood’s hot favorite Dulquer Salmaan. When asked about the possibility of them pairing up for a movie, Rahman said that it’s the Almighty who plans that but he will only be happy if such an offer comes by.

Rahman was once a very busy actor in the South acting alongside superstars like Prem Nazir, Madhu Mohanlal and Mammootty. But presently, he is very selective with his movies. He commits only for those films that offer him ample scope for perfomance. Last year, he played the lead in Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, a Tamil whodunit thriller. The movie was a huge success and Rahman’s performance was highly appreciated.

Shoot progressing for Dileep’s big budget movie Kammarasambhavam

Actor Dileep recently joined the shoot of his upcoming movie Kammarasambhavam in Coimbatore. The movie marks the directorial debut of noted ad filmmaker Ratheesh Ambat.

Kammarasambhavam, written by Murali Gopy stars Tamil actor Sidharth as the other lead. The team had already shot for some major portions with Sidharth in Chennai. The movie happens in over three timelines and will feature both Dileep and Sidharth in multiple looks. Namitha Pramod has been roped in to play the female lead in the film.

National award winning actor Bobby is also playing a pivotal role. Murali Gopy, Manikuttan, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans, Siddique, Vinay Forrt, Sudheer Karamana and Santhosh Keezhattoor are also part of the cast.

Kammarasambhavam is expected to hit screens by the end of this year. Gopi Sunder is handling the music department. Gokulam Gopalan is funding this movie under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies.

Mammootty’s bilingual movie Streetlights is full of surprises

Renowned cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen is making his directorial debut with the upcoming movie Streetlights, starring Mammootty in the lead. The movie is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam.

Shamdat is a popular cameraman who was worked in all four South Indian languages. Some of his best works are Ritu, Seniors and Oozham. He has also worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Uttama Villain and the yet to be released Vishwaroopam 2.

His debut directorial Streetlights is a crime thriller featuring Mammootty in the role of an investigation officer. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters. Since it’s a bilingual, the movie will have different supporting actors for each language.

The Malayalam verison stars Joy Mathew, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neena Kurup, Lijomol Jose, Sohan Seenulal, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran. Manobala, Black Pandi and some other supporting actors feature in the Tamil version.

Streetlights is bank rolled by Mammootty’s own production house Playhouse Pictures. The movie is written by newbie Fawaz Muhammed and music is composed by Adarsh Abraham. Director Shamdat himself is cranking the camera. Manoj is handling the editing works.

Shoot for the movie has already been completed and Mammootty recently finished dubbing for his portions. An official announcement regarding the release date is expected soon.

4 heroines in Dulquer Salmaan’s next Tamil movies

Last day we had reported about Dulquer Salmaan signing for a new Tamil movie with debutant Ra Karthik. The movie is a travelogue that will have all commercial elements. Four heroines will be part of the movie but the makers are yet to officially announce the names. Reportedly, the makers have approached Enai Noki Payum Thotta fame Megha Akash and Oru Naal Koothu fame Nivetha Pethuraj, but they are yet to sign on the dotted lines.

Dulquer would be playing multiple characters in the movie. Majority of the portions are set in North India and the team is currently scouting for suitable locations. The movie will be shot across the country in locations like Chennai, Coimbatore, Chandigarh and Nainital.

The movie will be produced by Kenanya Films. George C Williams who has wielded the camera in movies like Theri, Kaththi and Raja Rani has been roped in as the DOP. National award winner Sreekar Prasad is in charge of the editing. Music department will be handled by debutant Dheena Dhayalan.

According to the director, it will be a feel good movie that will appeal to audience of all age groups. The makers are planning to start shooting from December once Dulquer wraps up all his existing commitments.
