Kerala Box Office : Baahubali 2 Collection Report 42 Days

Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion is nearing the end of it’s theatrical run. It’s been over a month from the movie’s release and naturally there is a dip in the collections. In Kerala, the movie is still being screened in some theatres and multiplexes. It is already the highest grossing non-Malayalam movie in Kerala.

As per trade sources, the movie has grossed a whopping Rs 71.40 crores from it’s 42 days theatrical run in the Kerala box office alone. The distributors United Global Media had bought the rights of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion for an amount of Rs 13 crores. This suggests that the distributor’s share alone is estimated to be over Rs 40 crores.

Upon it’s release on April 28, the movie registered a new record for the highest first day grosser in Kerala by raking in Rs 5.90 crores. Ever since then, the movie has been getting tremendous response from the Kerala audience. Despite a slew of releases like Dulquer Salmaan’s CIA, Ramante Edanthottam, Tovino Thomas starrer Godha and Achayans, Baahubali 2 has managed to hold firm at the box office.

Kerala Box Office : Sachin The Billion Dreams Final Collection Report

Kerala Box Office : Sachin The Billion Dreams Final Collection Report

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams was released on May 26 amid great expectations. It was released in 2400 screens in India and 400 screens overseas. The film, directed by James Erskine
opened to largely positive reports from the critics.

However, the movie had a very low profile release in Kerala. It film had a limited release finding screens mostly in multiplexes. According to reports from trade sources, Sachin: A Billion Dreams has managed to earn only Rs 1.90 crores from it’s theatrical run in the state.

The Kerala box office is highly competitive now with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Godha and Adventures Of Omanakuttan, all doing good business. Sadly, Sachin’s biopic has ended it’s theatrical run failing to create any sort of impact in the box office

However, in the North Indian states and some overseas centres, the movie has done good business. It is inching closer to the 50 crore mark. The film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of Naam Shabana, which stood at the 8th position with a collection of 36.50 crores. Sachin’s biopic is now become the 8th highest grosser of the year.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a docu-drama, a first of it’s kind attempt in Indian cinema. Despite that, the movie has managed to do such great business only because of the massive fan base that Sachin Tendulkar enjoys.

The film, directed by James Erskine showcases Sachin Tendulkar’s journey from his childhood to become the world’s best cricketer. Apart from his cricket and personal life, it also reveals certain unknown aspects of his life.

The film has real footage from Sachin’s personal life to the years he spent on the field. Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Anjali, kids Sara and Arjun feature in the film. Popular Indian players like Virat Kohli, M S Dhoni and Virender Sehwag are also seen sharing their experiences with the legend.

Oscar Award winner AR Rahman has composed the music. The film was shot simultaneously in Hindi, Marathi and English. It was dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams is produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures under the banner of 200 NotOut Productions.

I like Pranav Mohanlal’s innocence: Mammootty

Pranav Mohanlal is all set to make his debut in a lead role this year with Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming movie. But even before making his entry to the industry, Pranav has many admirers. His simplicity, despite being the son of such a big superstar, has made him hugely popular among the youngsters. Pranav, unlike the other celebrity kids, is shy of the limelight and likes to be in his own space.

Mammootty is one such admirer of Pranav. In a recent interview, the megastar opened up about the acting plans of Pranav and more. He said, “Pranav is just like my son Dulquer. He has a very peculiar character and is very different from the other kids of his age. I like his innocence very much. He should have entered the film industry much earlier but it could not happen due to many other reasons. Pranav will surely be able to mark his place in the industry.”

Pranav is right now prepping up to make his debut as a lead actor. The 26-year-old is venturing into acting after assisting Jeethu Joseph in two films. The director had earlier informed that his film with Pranav will be an action thriller on the lines of his superhit movie Memories. The superstar’s son trained in Parkour for playing his part in the film. Parkour is a form of acrobatic physical training that involves crossing obstacles by running, climbing, jumping, rolling and swinging.

There are reports that the movie will be shot outside Kerala on a budget of Rs 10 crores. An official statement regarding when the movie will go on floors is still awaited. Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is producing this yet to be titled movie.

It is a genre that is rarely seen in Malayalam cinema, majorly due to the budget constraints. So it will certainly be a new experience for the Malayali audience.

Odiyan has some big names in the cast as well as the technical team. Manju Warrier has been roped in to play the female lead in while veteran actor Prakash Raj will be seen in a powerful antagonist’s role. The makers have roped in Peter Hein to choreograph the stunts.

Peter Hein last year worked with Mohanlal in Pulimurugan. The spectacular stunts in the movie were much raved about and he deservingly won the National award for best stunt choreography. Peter Hein has assured that the stunts in Odiyan will be a notch higher than Pulimurugan.

Sabu Cyril, the man behind huge projects like Baahubali, Enthiran and Ra One, is in charge of the production design. National award winner Sreekar Prasad will be editing this movie. Pulimurugan DOP Shaji Kumar will be cranking the camera and M Jayachandran will be handling the music department.
