Maheshinte Prathikaram award writer Syam Pushkaran to make his directorial debut with a superstar!

Noted screen writer Syam Pushkaran is planning to don the director’s hat. Syam himself revealed this bit of interaction in a recent media interaction. He will be making his directorial debut next year. Eventhough he remained tight lipped about the lead cast, he informed that a superstar will be part of his movie.

Syam Pushkaran has co- written several noted films like Salt n Pepper, Da Thadiya, 22 Female Kottayam, 5 Sundarikal, Idukki Gold, Iyobinte Pusthakam and Rani Padmini. Last year, he won the State and National award for the screenplay of the widely acclaimed movie Maheshinte Prathikaram.

Syam is currently co- scripting Aashiq Abu’s next along with Dileesh Nair. The movie, titled as Mayaanadhi starring Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. Syam is also planning to enter production along with director Dileesh Pothen.

Some interesting facts about Tiyaan

Tiyaan, one of the most anticipated Malayalam movies of the year, is gearing up for release. This multistarrer directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar is slated to hit screens for the Eid season.

Tiyaan is one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have released till date. The movie boasts of a huge star cast that includes Prithviraj, Indrajith, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya, Ananya and many others. The movie has around 60 character artists.

Tiyaan, written by Murali Gopy is a socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu. The team shot for months in North Indian places like Varanasi, Ladakh etc. They filmed the famous Kumbh Mela live in 2015. Several shots was filmed amidst 1000 artists in live locations.

Prithviraj is playing the character of Aslan Mohammed while Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman in the movie. Both the actors had earlier mentioned it is one of their most complex and challenging films ever. Murali Gopy will be seen in a new makeover as Ramkant Mahasay. North Indian actress Mrudula Sathe will be seen as Prithviraj’s wife in the movie. Bollywood actor Ranjeeth Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi are also part of the cast.

Huge sets resembling the North Indian locales were erected in the Ramoji Rao Film City, where the team shot for around 100 days in different schedules. Tiyaan is the only movie after Baahubali to be shot for such long periods in the film city. The movie is produced by Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations. They have invested around Rs 25 crores for the movie.

The movie’s promos do not reveal anything about it’s plot and that has piqued the curiosity of the audience. It is a mix genre attempt, which is a first in Malayalam cinema. If these promos are anything to go by, Tiyaan will be an entirely new experience for the Malayali audience.

Fake Facebook account; Fahadh Faasil files a formal complaint

Just like a social medias also have two sides. It provides a platform where people can express themselves and voice their opinions. But unfortunately, most people use the flip side where they tend to spread negativity and false news with the mask of fake accounts.

Celebrities are the most affected in the cyber world. With the arrival social medias, celebrities can interact more with their fans and well wishers. But most of them tend to stay away fearing backfire and derogatory comments.

Fahadh Faasil is being troubled by a fake account in his name for sometime now. The user of this fake account has been trying to cheat many people. Fahadh has now filed a formal complaint to the Alappuzha district police superintendent.

On the work front, the actor’s next release will be Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. The movie, directed by Dileesh Pothen is slated to hit screens June 28 as an Eid release. Director Raffi’s comedy entertainer Role Models is also expected to release soon.

“It’s my face, my body”, Shruti Haasan lashes out at trolls

Shruti Haasan is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming Hindi movie Behen Hogi Teri. The movie, directed by Ajay K Pannalal also stars National award winner Rajkummar Rao. It is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on June 9.

Shruti had put on 8 kilos for playing the character of Binny in Behen Hogi Teri. She has now been subjected to fat shaming. Body shaming is a very disturbing trend that actresses have been facing for sometime now.

A furious Shruti Haasan lashed out at the trolls in a recent media interaction. Shruti reckons that how she chooses to look is nobody’s business but hers and that she’s not answerable to anyone. She is quoted saying “It’s my face, my body. What I do with it is nobody’s business. What people write about me on social media does not bother me. I am not answerable to anyone.”

Nedumudi Venu celebrates his 69th birthday in the sets of Udhaharanam Sujatha

Veteran actor Nedumudi Venu turned 69 today. His birthday was celebrated in the sets of Udhaharanam Sujatha in Trivandrum. This upcoming movie directed by debutant Phantom Praveen stars Manju Warrier in the titular role.

Manju Warrier is acting with Nedumudi Venu after a gap of 20 long years. They both shared screen space for the last time in Venu’s Daya.

Udhaharanam Sujatha is funded by The Scene, a new production house owned by actor Joju George and director Martin Prakkat. Manju Warrier is playing the role of a widow with a 15 year old daughter in the film. The actress will be seen without any makeup in the movie. She is playing the resident of a local colony who does odd jobs to raise her daughter.

Martin Prakkat and Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame Naveen Bhaskar are jointly scripting this film, which will showcase the struggles of a single mother in upbringing her teenage daughter.

Mamta Mohandas is also playing a pivotal role. She will be seen as the district Collector. Her character has great prominence in the plot. Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudhi Koppa and Joju George are also part of the cast. Newbie Anaswara is playing the role of Manju’s daughter in this film.

Veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan is cranking the camera while Mahesh Narayanan, who recently made his directorial debut with the widely acclaimed Take Off, will be editing the movie. Gopi Sunder is handling the music department in Udhaharanam Sujatha.

There will be some changes in the Tamil remake of Maheshinte Prathikaram: Priyadarshan

We had earlier told you that veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan will be directing the Tamil remake of last year’s widely acclaimed Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram. Udhayanidhi Stalin and Malayali actress Namitha Pramod have been roped in to play the lead roles.

Maheshinte Prathikaram is a comedy drama set in the rural backdrop of Idukki. It is a realistic take on the protagonist taking a revenge, all told with natural humour. The movie was a huge success, both critically and commercially. Fahadh Faasil played the lead role in the movie directed by Dileesh Pothen. It won numerous accolades including two National Awards; for the best feature film in Malayalam and best screenplay for Shyam Pushkaran. Interestingly, director Priyadarshan was the jury chairman of last year’s National Film Awards.

When Maheshinte Prathikaram lands in a Tamil setting, there will be some changes in the script. This was informed by the director himself. They will be tweaking the script slightly to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. There will be more prominence to humour in the Tamil version.

Namitha Pramod will be making her Tamil debut by reprising the role of Aparna Balamurali from the original. MS Bhaskar will be playing the role essayed by Alencier Ley Lopez. The movie will start rolling on July 15 and will be shot extensively in Theni and Cumbam regions.

Priyadarshan has retained his technicians from Oppam. NK Ekambaram is the DOP while MS Ayyappan Nair will be editing the movie. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is the producer. Incidentally, he is also the chairman of OPM Dream Mill Cinemas, who co-produced Maheshinte Prathikaram.

It’s difficult to script for such a big star like Mohanlal: Lucifer writer Murali Gopy

Mohanlal- Prithviraj team’s highly anticipated movie Lucifer is still in it’s early stage. Even the tiniest of information about the movie makes way to lot of speculations. Prithviraj is making his directorial debut with this movie written by the multi faceted Murali Gopy. The movie was first announced last year and ever since then,it has been in the midst of all sorts of speculations.

Two months back, the team had their first official press meet where it was revealed that the process of developing the story to a well fleshed out script is still progressing. The scribe, Murali Gopy is well aware of Mohanlal’s stardom. He is eagerly looking forward to exploit Mohanlal’s much raved about acting skills while also keeping in mind his stardom and please his scores of fans.

Murali Gopy has already proved his mettle as a writer with some of his works like Left Right Left, Ee Adutha Kaalathu and 1 by Two. He wants Lucifer to be a quality film that serves as a feast for the superstar’s fans. Mohanlal’s star status now is larger than the characters he plays. So it becomes difficult for writers come up with a suitable character that would appeal to the star as well as the actor in him. Another challenge is satisfy his huge fan base without compromising on the content.

Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is producing this movie. The movie will have some other prominent actors and world- class technicians as part of the team. They are planning to commence the shoot by May 2018 after all of them are free from their prior commitments.

Mohanlal will be seen in a complete makeover in Mahabharata: VA Shrikumar Menon

After years of waiting, Mohanlal had recently announced that he would be playing the lead role of Bheeman in the movie adaptation of Randamoozham. Titled as The Mahabharata, it is being made as the most expensive Indian movie ever with an astronomical budget of Rs 1000 crores. Renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon will be directing this movie and UAE based Indian businessman Dr BR Shetty is producing this magnum opus.

Director of this massive project, VA Shrikumar Menon recently sat down for an interview with Radio Mango UAE where he revealed some exciting information about the movie.

The director said, “Mohanlal will be seen in a complete makeover. As confirmed by him in his blog, the great actor is ready to dedicate a lot of time for the project.”

The director in an earlier interview had said that the role of Bheeman will be a challenging one for Mohanlal. He said, “For the role, the actor will have to undergo a lot of physical and mental training. The character he plays undergoes various emotional turmoil and Lal is the one actor who can convey it to perfection,”

Mohanlal in his blog had written that he will be taking up intensive training to play the part of Bheeman. He will be training for the next two years under various gurus. The film will have various forms of warfare including use of clubs.

Apart from Mohanlal, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna has been approached to play the role of Karna. The makers have informed that many leading actors and technicians from India and across the globe will be associated with this project.

The Mahabharata will be officially launched within three months. They are planning to commence the shoot by August, next year. It will be made as a multilingual in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English. This epic movie will be filmed in two parts and would have a worldwide release in 2020. The second part of the movie would be released from 90 days of the first part.

Aamir Khan to do a biopic on Rakesh Sharma

Aamir Khan is currently on a high after the tremendous success of Dangal in China. It is already the highest grossing Indian movie and is now closing in on the Rs 2000 crore mark. Dangal, which is a biopic made on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat’s life. Latest reports from Bollywood media suggest that Aamir Khan has committed for another biopic, this time on attract Rakesh Sharma’s life.

Aamir Khan will be playing the role of Rakesh Sharma, one of India’s first astronauts, in the biopic. Reportedly, titled as Saare Jahan Se Achcha, the biopic will explore the life of the legendary astronaut. Apart from playing the lead role, Aamir Khan will also be producing this movie. As per reports, Aamir and his team will be doing extensive research works and preparations for the project. Hollywood technicians will be associated in this big budget project.

Aamir Khan’s next release will be Secret Superstar, in which he will be seen in a cameo role. Dangal fame Zaira Wasim is playing the lead role in the movie, which is produced by Aamir Khan’s own production house.

Aamir recently started shooting for his upcoming movie Thugs Of Hindostan. It will be the first movie where Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan would be sharing screen space. Katrina Kaif and Dangal fame Fathima Sana Sheikh are also part of this highly anticipated. Thugs of Hindostan is being directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Aamir Khan has previously worked with the director in Dhoom 3.

Wedding bells for Godha director Basil Joseph

Director Basil Joseph is currently on a high after the success of his latest outing Godha. The movie, starring Tovino Thomas, Wamiqa Gabbi and Renji Panicker in the lead roles has been getting excellent response from the audience ever since it’s release on May 19.

The 27 year old filmmaker is now planning to settle down and get married. The director revealed about his wedding plans in a recent interview. He is planning to enter wedlock in August, this. But Basil has not disclosed his fiancée’s name yet though he revealed that she is a social worker. Apparently, he will be starting works for his next movie only after the wedding.

Before entering the industry, Basil was a noted short filmmaker. Impressed by his works, Vineeth Sreenivasan offered him a chance to assist in Thira. Basil made his directorial debut in 2015 with the comic caper Kunjiramayanam. The movie starring Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan was a sleeper success.

Basil’s recent release, Godha has won him a lot of appreciation. Unlike his debut movie, Godha had a bigger scale and the director handled it with a lot of maturity. With Godha, Basil has established himself as one of the most promising young filmmakers in Mollywood currently.
