The trailer has garnered excellent response from the Tamil viewers. Many have appreciated the efforts of Mohanlal while performing the stunts even at this age. We can see the response that the movie is getting from the comments section under the Youtube link and in other social medias.

The Tamil trailer is different from the one that was released for the Malayalam version. In a bid to attract the Tamil audience, the trailer shows glimpses of the terrific action sequences in the movie.

RP Bala has written the Tamil dialogues and interestingly, Mohanlal himself has dubbed in Tamil for the movie. The theatrical rights for Pulimurugan’s Tamil version was acquired by PK Narayanaswamy who has earlier distributed movies like Theri and Bairavaa in the regional areas.

It is said that Pulimurugan’s theatrical rights was brought for a record price for a dubbed movie. The Telugu version of Pulimurugan- Manyam Puli did an overall business of over 15 crores. So, the makers naturally have pinned high expectations on the Tamil version.

Ramesh Chennithala lashes out at KP Sasikala on The Mahabharata issue

Ramesh Chennithala lashes out at KP Sasikala on The Mahabharata issue

Hindu Aikya Vedi chairperson KP Sasikala recent statement that they will not allow the release of The Mahabharata has created a huge uproar in the state. The upcoming movie is the official adaptation of legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair’s novel Randamoozham, which is based on the Hindu epic Mahabharatha.

KP Sasikala said that the makers should title the movie as Randamoozham and not The Mahabharata. They will not allow the movie’s release with the title Mahabaratha.

Social media users lashed out at her statement. A series of trolls were launched at her by the netizens. Now, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has come out against the threat raised by the Sangh Parivar. In his Facebook page, he has written that their call to stall the movie’s release is an announcement of war over Kerala.

In his post, he asked who gave the permission to the Sangh Parivar to give out such orders. He has written, “the people of Kerala will not take such threats by the Sangh Parivar seriously. The communal forces should not think that they have got any patent over the epic Mahabharata. Those who are trying to patent the epic should read it at least once. Vedya Vayasan who wrote Mahabharata has deliberately included enough space for writers to develop their own versions. There has been several adaptations of Mahabharata told from the perspectives of Bheeman, Karnan, Duryodhanan and many other characters in the epic. So, it’s sheer stupidity to claim that they will not allow the movie’s release. Malayalis should be wary of the Sangh Parivar’s agenda to poison the secular society of Kerala. They think that they are doing something great, but we should keep ignoring such absurdity.

According to Sasikala, Randamoozham is a novel that distorted the writings in the real epic Mahabharatha and hence the movie adaptation of the novel should not be titled as The Mahabharata. She warned that if the makers did not change the movie’s title, the Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi would not allow it’s release.

Non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Suriya and 7 other Tamil actors

Non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Suriya and 7 other Tamil actors

The magistrate court in Ooty has issued an arrest warrant against Tamil actors Suriya, Sathyaraj, Vijay Kumar, Arun Vijay, Vivekh, Sri Priya, Sarath Kumar and Cheran, for their absence in court in connection with a defamation case filed by a freelance journalist.

The issue dates back to 2009 when Tamil actress Bhuvaneshawari was arrested on prostitution charges. Upon her arrest, she had revealed names of other actors who were involved in the racket. Several reports were written based on Bhuvaneshwari’s statement and it had annoyed some members of the Tamil film industry.

Popular Tamil daily Dinamalar reported about a story on some actresses saying they are involved in prostitution along with their pictures. This created an uproar in the Tamil film fraternity and the entire film artistes association came together in protest.

They organised a meeting to condemn Dinamalar. The then DMK government arrested the editor of the daily. The South India Cine Actors’ Association then, held a meeting to condemn the daily for publishing an article which allegedly tarnished the image of the actor.

The complainant Rozario Mariya Susai, who is a freelance journalist alleged that the above mentioned actors insulted all the journalists present instead of targeting the particular Tamil daily that published the article.

Following upsetting remarks made by these actors, he filed a private complaint against the eight actors for defamation. The court subsequently issued summons to the aforementioned eight actors to appear before it in 2011.

However, the actors filed a petition seeking to dispense with their appearance but the petition was dismissed. The next hearing was on May 17, this year. The actors again didn’t appear before the court.

Since this was the second occasion on which the actors had failed to appear before the case, a warrant was issued against them. The next hearing is on June 17.

Alphonse Puthren confirms his next will not be with Nivin Pauly

Alphonse Puthren confirms his next will not be with Nivin Pauly

Alphonse Puthren has established himself as a bankable director with his first two films itself. Both his movies; Neram and Premam were successful ventures especially the latter which turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters ever in Malayalam cinema.

The director is prepping up for his next movie in Tamil. It will be his first straight Tamil even though his debut movie Neram was a bilingual. His upcoming movie will be a musical entertainer with comedy and emotions.

Alphonse wrote in his Facebook page elaborating about his next project. He was on a break for nearly two years to learn and prepare for this movie. The director is planning to shooting for his next by July. Cinematographer Anend C Chandran and composer Rajesh Murugesan, who worked both in Neram and Premam, have been retained for the new film.

Since Nivin Pauly was part of Alphonse’s first two movies and the popular music album Yuvvh, there were talks that he will be playing the lead in the new movie also. But the director has confirmed that Nivin will not be a part of this movie, though he was quick to add that they might team up after a few films. Alphonse still remained tight lipped about the lead cast of his new film.

Here’s what Alphonse Puthren wrote on his Facebook page,

In two months time I hope to start my next film… This time I was learning and preparing for my next film. The film revolves around music…so in order to talk about the ocean I must know what It is like. I have dipped my legs and I’ve got wet in the ocean of music. That is why I took a small gap to start the film.
I don’t know to swim nor do I ride a boat nor do I own a Ship to travel in the ocean…nor have I done scuba diving…all I have is the Will to go forward like the hero in Life of Pie.
There will be love and friendship …but the story is not a love story like Premam nor it is a serious comedy thriller like Neram. I hope it will be a simple film with comedy and all emotions. Please do keep me in your prayers. This time my friend Nivin Pauly is not the hero…Might do a nice film with him after a few films.

In the post, Alphonse also mentioned about his first production venture which is directed by debutant Mohsin Kassim. Premam trio Krishna Sankar, Sharafudheen and Siju Wilson are playing the lead roles in the movie. He wrote,

And the film which Mohsin Kassim is directing is going on with Siju Wilson, Krishna Sankar Sharaf U Dheen Shabareesh Varma . …..hope you all bless me, my family and friends with prayers and wishes. Thank you
