Baahubali 2 Days Collection Report

Indian cinema’s most anticipated movie in recent times, Baahuabli 2 The Conclusion finally hit screens yesterday. The movie was opened to phenomenal response from the audience across the world.

Baahubali 2 was released after a long wait of 21 months. It was releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi languages in 6500 screens all over India.

According to trade sources, the movie has grossed Rs 121 crores from all the four versions on the opening day. On Saturday, it was has reportedly grossed a whopping Rs 150 crores.

In Kerala, the movie had a record release in a whopping 320 screens. This SS Rajamouli directorial registered a new record in the Kerala box office raking in Rs 5.90 crore on the opening.

The movie toppled the record of Mammootty starrer The Great Father which had grossed Rs 4.31 crores on the opening day. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali ranks second in the list of highest opening day grossers with Rs 4.20 crores followed by Mohanlal’s all time blockbuster Pulimurugan..

Baahubali 2 The Conclusion is expected to cross the landmark 1000 crore mark and become the first ever Indian movie to achieve the feat. It is worth a mention that the movie has already registered a pre release business of over 500 crores through the distribution, satellite, audio and video rights.

After a lot of awaiting Mohanlal is finally joining hands with veteran filmmaker Lal Jose. The movie, written by Benny P Nayarambalam is all set to start rolling on May 15.

Mohanlal is playing the role of vice- principal in the movie. It will be a complete entertainer with equal doses of humour, action and family drama. The movie is set in the backdrop of a seaside campus and the makers have finalized Thumba in Trivandrum as the main location.

Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is playing the female lead. She is playing the role of Mary, an assistant professor. Unlike the bubbly Lichi from Angamaly Diaries, her next outing will feature her as a strict faculty member.

The movie has an ensemble star cast that includes Priyanka Nair, Salim Kumar, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Alencier Ley, Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun among others. Shaan Rahman will be composing the music.

Mohanlal’s home production banner Aashirvad Cinemas will be funding this movie.

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has opened to phenomenal response from the audience across the globe. The movie is getting rousing reception in all the centres with houseful shows all over.

According to report from trade sources, Baahubali 2 has broken all pre-existing records for the opening day figures of an Indian movie. It has reportedly grossed more than Rs 100 crores from all four languages- Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.

The Hindi verison alone is reported to have grossed Rs 55 crores which is an all time record. The movie has pipped the likes of Bollywood biggies like Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs 36 cr) and Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 29.5 cr).

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh’s tweet reads,

“No Republic Day… No Eid… No Independence Day… No Diwali… No Christmas… #Baahubali2creates MAGIC at the BO on non-holiday…

Truly SENSATIONAL! As per *early tracking and estimates* #Baahubali2 opens BIGGER than#Sultan [₹ 36.54 cr] and #Dangal [₹ 29.78 cr]. HINDI”

Dangal, released in December last year is currently second in the highest grossing Indian films of all time raking in a worldwide business of around Rs 700 crores. Salman Khan’s Sultan was also a sensational success registering around 500 crores.

Baahubali 2 The Conclusion is expected to do an overall business of Rs 1000 crores. If the movie manages to cross the landmark, it will be the first Indian movie ever to achieve the rare feat. Going by the tremendous opening it is almost certain that Baahuabli 2 will breach the mark.

After months of anticipation, SS Rajamouli’s action fantasy drama Baahubali 2 The Conclusion was released yesterday (April 28). The movie opened to stunning response from the audience across the globe. The movie is said to have released in over 10,000 screens worldwide with 6,500 of them in India alone.

In Kerala, the movie had a record release in a whopping 320 screens. According to official reports from trade sources, the movie had grossed around Rs 5.90 crore from the Kerala box office. This is a new record in the opening day figures in the Kerala box office. The movie has pipped the record of Mammootty starrer The Great Father which had grossed Rs 4.31 crores on the opening day. Baahuabli 2’s record was expected due to the unprecedented hype that the movie got prior to the release. Tickets were sold like hot cakes right after the bookings were opened and the weekend shows in most centres have already been booked house full.

Baahubali 2 The Conclusion was released simultaneously in four languages-Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. The combined box office figures on the opening day from all the four languages is estimated to be more than 100 crores. In Hindi alone the movie is reported to have grossed around 50 crores.

In Kerala, the movie was distributed by Global United Media, who had also released the first installment Baahubali: The Beginning in 2015.

Tovino Thomas to start shooting for Aashiq Abu’s next

Tovino Thomas is riding on the smashing success of Oru Mexican Aparatha. Over the past few months, the actor has made rapid strides to become one of the top actors from the younger generation.

The actor will soon start shooting for promising young filmmaker Aashiq Abu’s next. The movie is touted to be a love story and is based on director Amal Neerad’s story. Dileesh Nair and Shyam Pushkar are scripting this film.

The duo have earlier teamed up with Aashiq Abu for movies like Salt n Pepper, Idduki Gold and Da Thadiya. Shyam Pushkaran last wrote the screenplay for Fahadh Faasil’s blockbuster movie Maheshinte Prathikaram, which was produced by Aashiq Abu.

This yet to be titled movie will be jointly produced by Aashiq Abu’s OPM Dream Mil Cinemas and Amal Neerad’s banner Amal Neerad Productions. A newcomer will be playing the female lead. Tovino will soon join the sets in Madurai.

The actor meanwhile is shooting for Dominic Arun’s black comedy. He plays a suspended cop in the dark comedy, which also stars Balu Varghese and Sijoy Varghese in prominent roles. Tovino Thomas’ next release will be Godha, directed by Basil Joseph of Kunjiramayanam fame. He has also signed for his debut Tamil movie which is directed by cinematographer turned filmmaker B R Vijayalakshmi.

Mohanlal is currently shooting for Villain, his upcoming movie with director B Unnikrishnan. The actor is playing role of Mathew Manjooran, a retired police officer. It is a big budget movie that has some popular names in the cast and crew department. Rockline Venkatesh who has produced films like Lingaa and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, is funding the movie.

Villain’s official teaser was released recently through Facebook. Social medias went into a frenzy as the teaser went on a record breaking spree. We now hear that the makers are aiming to release on June 28.

Villain features a huge star cast that includes popular Tamil star Vishal, Manju Warrier, Raashi Khanna, Telugu actor Srikanth and Hansika Motwani among others. Popular cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is wielding the camera. It is the first Malayalam movie to be shot completely in 8K resolution.

Peter Hein is choreographing the stunts along with Stunt Silva. Music is composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics. Shameer Mohammed of Charlie and Angamaly Diaries fame is handling the editing. Background score in the recently released teaser was composed by Prashanth Pillai.

Editor Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial debut Take Off is still continuing it’s successful theatrical run in the state. The movie starring Parvathy Menon, Kunchako Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali in major roles, is inspired from real life events. It is a fictionalized account of the 2014 incident where a group of Malayali nurses were held captive in the Tikrit region in Iraq.

Take Off, released on March 24 opened to extremely positive reviews from critics and was soon lapped up by the audience. Even after a month from the release, the movie continues to good business. It is a great achievement considering the fact that Take Off had to compete with some biggies like The Great Father, 1971 Beyond Borders, Sakhavu and Puthan Panam.

According to latest reports from trade sources, Take Off has grossed Rs 15.3 crores from it’s 35 days theatrical run in Kerala. The movie was made as a tribute to late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai. It is funded by Anto Joseph and Shebin Becker in association with Rajesh Pillai Films. Mekha Rajesh Pillai is the executive producer of the movie.

Upon release, Take Off was appreciated by the critics and the audience alike. Leading stars like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayasurya, Kamal Haasan, Suriya and Sivakarthikeyan showered praise on the movie. The positive word of mouth has had a great impact in the box office collections.
