Manju Warrier at present playing writer Kamala Das aka Madhavikutty for Kamal’s Aami had found time to praise the upcoming big budget Hindu epic movie The Mahabharata. She had used her official Facebook page to appreciate the dedication taken by many for such a biggie.
It reads “As I Keralite, like everyone I too feel proud and happy to see MT’s Randamoozham turn into film as The Mahabharata. The announcement recently made on it’s technical aspects and gigantic budget takes Malayalam cinema to somewhere we have never ever dreamt of. It also marks another milestone when the best technicians and brilliant actors around the globe join hands. Randamoozham is a sculpture made on words by the maestro MT sir. Written by putting in his soul. I believe that the final output would also be such a classic”
“Our dear Lalettan plays the character Bheeman who faces mental distress and is disturbed by sleepless thoughts. Rakshadikari Baiju Oppu Review : Another entertainer filled with realism
Rakshadikari Baiju Oppu is made on rather an interesting and brilliant track that makes an extended run through each and every character playing in the background of the movie and thereby giving us a clear and open view on the character assessment. The style used here may not be digestive for a limited number, but that actually gives the perfect basement to the entire plot.
The well planned casting has led way to ignite many a laughter sessions throughout the flick, but fear that it had put down the rough storyline which was going alone simultaneously. The movie comprising of a bunch of villagers goes on the usual tracks of playing various types of sports with friends who are very closely bonded. Biju Menon putting in his typical act portrays Baiju, who is an irrigation department employee and one among the bunch who loves playing with his younger ones. To the core, the playground shown in many of the scenes and put in highlight has minimal reference in the later part of the story, which is inappropriate.
As mentioned, the movie which gives more than a half of it to humour and such acts has connected the happenings in events to a sporting field and thus gets the audience in hand. The parts of life briefly described through regaining consciousness from mental disability or a beautiful love story or the present scenario where flats and hi-tech buildings chain the desire of kids to play on a field or someone who reaches a better place by persuading his dream or an elderly man having conflicts while walking by the playground or a NRI who finds happiness wandering along the playarea are essayed well as the subplots. These things made sure that the entire film had given the audience something to keep in mind.
Looking at the performance level each actor had put in clearly depicts the dedication they have shown. Biju Menon had been used efficiently this time by the director thereby not only sticking to the usual humour roles enacted. He is portrayed as an irresponsible middle class man who is there at a call for everyone. To an extend he had lived as Baiju and worth a mention to the non-humourous scenes performed. Others be it Deepak Parambol, Hannah Reji Koshy, Aju Varghese, Janardhanan, Alencier Ley, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Chethan Jayalal, Dileesh Pothen, etc. had given a mesmerizing act throughout. Padmaraj Ratheesh looked a bit awkward and stood apart from the rest due to his unnatural tint. Debutant Sreekala who had played Aju’s pair deserves a special mention.
Ranjan Pramod who has marked his directorial after a small while has evidently shown in the experiences had with veteran makers like Joshiy, Sathyan Anthikad and Lal Jose. He had made sure that the movie should not go offbeat at any instant. The techniques introduced by him had seen a whooping success throughout the flick; the live sound recording had definitely added a pinch of realism to the movie. Bijibal yet again adding the perfect symphony to a flick had less effort in tuning the background score. The camera cranked by Prasanth Raveendran were fully filled with life and the essence of a village.
As mentioned earlier, the movie may take some time to make you fully dissolve into it. The length storyline may make you bored but at halfway stage when the subplot starts to revolve you may find it worthy. A clean entertainer for the Biju Menon aka Baiju lovers out there.
Vysakh who is regarded as the 100 crore maker in the industry is planning to do a bilingual with Tamil actor Arya in lead. The movie is said to happen soon if the news proves to be true. The director soon after the success of Pulimurugan had announced a handful of projects.
Vysakh had announced the reunion with producer Tomichan Mulakuppadam once again for Raja 2, which happens to be a sequel of Pokkiri Raja and a Mohanlal movie. He had also informed on doing big budget movies with Dileep and Jayaram. He had announced the projects while his movie Pulimurugan was hitting big records.
The director never gave a hint on working with the Great Father co star, but reports suggest that it would happen soon. A close source had reported “This will be a humongous project with a bevy of stars acting in it. Right now, only Arya in the lead role has been finalised. The film is in the discussion stage now. The rest of the cast and crew will be confirmed in a week’s time and an official announcement will be made after that”
The role Arya had portrayed as a cop Andrews Eapen in Haneef Adeni’s Mammootty starer The Great Father was well accepted by audience. Halfway stage essaying a negative character turns to be Mammootty’s helping hand in the end. While, Vysakh who is busy with the pre production works of Raja 2 is yet to give a confirmation on the flick.
Kamal Hasan directorial Vishwaroopam was much appreciated by audience worldwide and have been waiting to see Kamal Hasan back in action for the second time. Vishwaroopam 2 which had 40% already completed on the sets of the first part got delayed later due to it’s technical issues.
Vishwaroopam 2 kick started shooting in Thailand and emphasizes on a strong mother-son relationship. It was reported that the team had been shooting on an airbase in there for a pivotal scene. But the later schedules had to be changed due to the busy schedule dates of the actor/director Kamal Hasan himself.
A pleasing and exciting news that has now hit social medias is that the movie is seeing a massive development. Earlier, Kamal Hasan himself tweeted that during the shoot there were big financial issues to be sorted out and the movie would delay.
From close sources, we get to know the post production works of the movie is progressing in full swing and the movie would hit theaters soon. Rajesh M Selva, Kamal Hasan’s close associate said “Yes, we have revived, and it is not just dubbing, we are working on other departments too. The post-production works are in full swing”
Vishwaroopam 2 written and directed by the actor Kamal Hasan himself is funded on a big budget by Viswanathan Ravichandran. Malayalam technicians Shamdat Sainudeen and Mahesh Narayanan are handling the camera and editing departments respectively. The movie boasts a stellar cast comprising of Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and others.

Along with the post he had posted a photo of him with Mohanlal. The actor who had recently joined the sets of Mammootty- Ajai Vasudev campus flick earlier had also responded through his Facebook profile many a times on social issues.
“Only Mohanlal could play Bheeman in The Mahabharata” states director VA Shrikumar
Mohanlal is all set to play Bheeman for MT’s Award winning novel Randamoozham which is to be visually presented as The Mahabharata by ad film maker VA Shrikumar Menon. The movie produced by business tycoon BR Shetty for a gigantic 1000 crores budget will also assemble stars from in and out the country. Mohanlal who had faced a lot of criticism through various social media recently after the announcement has not yet responded to any.
The director many a times had praised the writer’s brilliance in bringing out such an epic novel. He had also not forgotten to credit the actor for portraying the vital character in the flick. VA Shrikumar Menon recently gave an interview to a leading FM station in Dubai, saying “In my perspective there is no other actor in this world who could play Bheeman other than Mohanlal. I would have returned the script to MT sir if Mohanlal had declined the project. I would crank the camera only if he is there in my frame”
He continued “I believe that in today’s world only Mohanlal could replicate the same Bheeman. And as a director I am fully confident on that fact. I had given the same reply to the Bollywood stars when they asked me the motive behind casting him as Bheeman”
He had also narrated his connection with MT sir: “MT Vasudevan Nair sir was my father’s classmate and a close friend of his. Both had used to write a lot during their times. The letters MT sir had sent to my father is always considered as jewels. But I never had a personal bond with the legendary writer”
He had also praised the producer for investing a huge amount for the movie which emphasizes the Indian culture: “It was during a function that I had met Mr. BR Shetty, he was talking on the importance of Mahabharata and narrating stories to many. I had later informed him about the project that was kept in my mind. Shetty had told me he had to thoroughly go through MT’s Randamoozham and would inform me later. Later he had called me and asked when should we start the project. It was his idea of releasing the movie as two parts so that it gives the audience a deeper look into the culture of our land. Shetty was ready to invest 1000 crores for the project which was said to cost approximately 850 crores”
The movie which is said to be released by 2020 begins shoot from September next year. Apart from actors in the India industry it would also witness collaboration of stars from foreign industries. The movie is reported to be the second costliest flick in Asia and the costliest in India. The director had earlier informed that the casting processes managed by an international company had kick started and technical works would commence soon.
Baahubali which had completed it’s post production works is all set for release this 28th. But earlier we had reported many Kannada parties in the state coming up with protests and ready to organize bandh on the release day. The bandh would be called off only if Sathyaraj, who plays Kattappa apologizes to the public on the comment made against Karnataka on the Kaveri river water dispute.
Now,the director himself has come up with a video tweet requesting the people in Karnataka. He requests them not to hurt his cinema which is much awaited by people just because of a comment made by an actor earlier or so.
It was a year ago Sathyaraj had made the comment that had insulted the Kannada people. The remark was made when both the states were having a bad time fighting over Kaveri river for the resources obtained from it.The Vattalpaksha party have planned to organize a protest from Town Hall to Freedom Park the release day and ban the release. Many others from various parties have also uplifted their decision and are planning to be a part of the movement.
“Sathyaraj is not the maker or producer of the movie, he is just an actor in the movie. He has nothing to lose if the movie is not released in Karnataka. It is terrible that you attack a movie on the basis of comment made by an actor in that movie. I had discussed the issue with Sathyaraj and I am not the one to give out further details. Don’t drag in cinema and destroy it with such unethical issues” he said in his Twitter video.
Sathyaraj, who was seen in a pivotal character in the first part is expected to portray a vital character with the same importance in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The organizers had recently warned the theaters and multiplexes to ban the shows on the release day. It is also reported that people would be protesting in front of Baahubali-showing theaters.
As of now more than a 40% of summer releases have kissed the theaters and are running efficiently. The much awaited movies had hit theaters recently and are getting mixed reviews. The highlight was two Mammootty flicks hitting theaters in quick succession; The Great Father and Puthan Panam. Apart from them a Mohanlal starer and a Nivin Pauly flick had also released.
Nivin Pauly’s Sakhavu directed by National Award achiever Siddharth Shiva is topping the list. The movie in which Nivin had given his career best performance is a political drama. It features Nivin in two appearances as Sakhavu Krishnan and Sakhavu Krishna Kumar. The movie was well accepted by audience and had collected a decent collection of Rs. 2.75 crores on it’s initial day. Nivin had hit theaters after a long one year gap with Sakhavu. His earlier movies were categorized as blockbusters and therefore the fans were definite that the movie wouldn’t disappoint them.
Mammootty movie The Great Father follows the list after the Nivin starer. The movie which emphasizes on the social issues is a complete family drama. Mammootty’s stylish avatar was already discussed on social media during the shooting sessions. Mammootty plays the character of David Nainan, Sarah David’s ‘great’ father in this Haneef Adeni debut directorial. The movie is reported to have collected Rs. 50 crores from the worldwide box office.
Mammootty- Ranjith team’s Puthan Panam was another flick that had hit theaters this Summer season. The movie after bringing in a huge hype at the box office on it’s initial days slowed down it’s pace after Sakhavu got released. Mohanlal- Major Ravi team’s 1971 Beyond Borders was yet another failure in the box office, the movie which had boasted a stellar cast and a technically brilliant crew before it’s release struggled to impress the audience with it’s clichéd scenes and usual storyline. The other releases had not even moved the box office a bit, and had left soon. Mahesh Narayanan’s Take Off though not released in the Summer season is still running successfully at the box office.
