Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol will release on January 20

There seems to be a confusion over the release dates of new Malayalam movies. After the theatre strike was called off and a new exhibitors union was formed with Dileep at the top, it was decided that all the movies that were initially scheduled to release for Christmas will start hitting the screens with one in a week. Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal will be the first movie to release on 19. In that order, Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is scheduled for next week on 26.

However the producer of the movie Sophia Paul has confirmed that the movie will release on 20 and not on 26 as reported by the association. This is because January 26 already has some other language biggies lined up for release. Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, Suriya’s Singam 3 and Jayam Ravi’s Bogan are all releasing on 26. If the Mohanlal starrer is released alongside these movies, the initial collections will be largely affected. Sophia Paul also added that they have asked the producers and distributors association to release the movie on January 20 itself.

Director Dr.Biju has come out supporting her. He said, “No one except the producers can decide the release date of a film. How can someone decide on a release date without consulting the producer, referring to the newly formed association headed by Dileep. Now that Liberty Basheer is out of the way, have we come up with a bigger evil?”

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob. The movie stars Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles. Anoop Menon, Srinda Arhaan, Aima Rose Sebastian, Sanoop Santhosh, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Rahul Madhav, Sharafudheen, Alencier Ley, Kalabhavan Shajon and many others play supporting characters in this family entertainer. The movie is funded by Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new movie Ezra has also got a release date. The much anticipated horror thriller is scheduled to release on February 10.

Megastar Mammootty’s Pathemari at Dhaka Film Festival

Megastar Mammootty’s superhit movie Pathemari released in 2015 was both critically and commercially acclaimed. The film will now be competing at the Dhaka Film Festival, making it one among the other Indian films at the event.
The other Indian films, which will make it at the festival is Ark Ganguly’s Khoj and Gajendra Ahire’s The Silence among many others.

Pathemari was earlier selected for the Indiwood Panorama Competition section at the 2nd edition of Indiwood Carnival 2016 in Hyderabad.

Pathemari, directed by Salim Ahamed told the story about the lives of expatriates. Mammootty played the character Pallikkal Narayanan who migrates to the Gulf during the 60s and works abroad for the good part of his life. His heartwarming performance was highly appreciated by the critics and audience.

The movie also had Sreenivasan, Jewel Mary, Joy Mathew, Siddique, Salim Kumar and Santhosh Keezhattoor in major supporting roles.

At this scenario, it is very heartening to see a superstar like Mammootty acting with a transgender model. We are talking about transgender model Anjali Ameer who will be seen as Mammootty’s heroine in the upcoming movie Pernabu.

The 21 year old Malayali model is the first transgender actress from the State, to act as a heroine in a mainstream Malayalam movie.

Recently in an interview, when quizzed about her experience working with Mammootty, she said, “It was a superb learning experience for me as a budding artist. I was literally afraid when I first saw him. But, it was very comfortable working with him since he helped me through all possible ways.”

Peranbu is directed by award winning filmmaker Ram. The movie is being made as bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam with the dubbing works currently under progress. Director Ram’s previous movie Thanga Meengal won the National award for best feature film in Tamil in the year 2013.

Mammootty is playing the character Amuthan in this movie which also stars Sarath Kumar, Kaniha and Suraj Venjaramoodu in pivotal characters. Thanga Meengal fame Baby Sadhana is playing the role of Mammootty’s daughter in the movie.

World of movies is a world of uncertainty. It is very common in the industry for some movies not to go as per the initial plans. There have been many incidents in Mollywood itself where movies have failed to kick-start after being announcing officially. There can be many unknown reasons for that. Sometimes it can be due to date clashes, sometimes due to difference of opinion between the actor and director, budget problems or even due to personal choices. Recently, we came to know about one such interesting incident in Mollywood.

Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam directed by Ranjith Sankar was released in 2015 with Jayasurya in the lead. But not many know that Prithviraj Sukumaran was the first choice for the title role. The actor himself had posted a first look poster of the movie in his official Facebook page back in 2013. Back then the movie was titled as Sudhi Vathmeekam. Prithviraj has described about the movie as “a journey of a special man we have been discussing for sometime now. His story of love, laughter, friendship, struggles and happiness..”

Director Ranjith Sankar, himself has told in many interviews that the movie was inspired from the real life of one of his friends. The movie showcased the life of a person struggling with stammering. It was a inspiring tale that showed the troubles of such a person, the social stigma associated with it and how he successfully overcame it. Jayasurya delivered a top notch performance as Sudhi which fetched him his first National Award for best actor- special mention in the year 2015. The movie was also an average grosser in the box office.

Now, we wonder how Prithviraj would have played that role. He is also an equally efficient actor like Jayasurya, so there is no chance of of a comparison here. We believe that he opted out of the project most probably due to date issues. Remember, he acted in 13 movies during the period from 2013-15.

Prithviraj has worked with Ranjith Sankar earlier in Arjunan Sakshi in 2011. The following year he played a small but pivotal role in the director’s next movie- Molly Aunty Rocks starring Revathy in the lead.

Here’s hoping that Ranjith Sankar joins hands with Prithviraj again any time soon.

Dulquer Salmaan to join Soubin Shahir’s Parava on February 1

We had earlier reported that Dulquer Salmaan will be doing a cameo in Soubin Shahir’s directorial debut, Parava. The actor will be seen as a Fort Kochi guy in the movie. According to latest reports, Dulquer will be joining the sets of Parava on February 1.

Dulquer recently returned back from the US after finishing the shoot for director Amal Neerad’s yet to be titled movie. The actor will have nearly twenty to twenty five days of shoot for Parava.

Parava is the debut directorial of actor turned filmmaker Soubin Shahir. The script was jointly written by Soubin Shahir and Muneer Ali. Shane Nigam who won over the audience with his performance in Kimsath, Harisree Ashokan’s son Arjun Harisree ashokan and Zinil Sainudeen play the lead roles in the movie. The movie will be jointly produced by popular filmmaker Anwar Rasheed’s banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainments and The Movie Club.

After completing the shoot for Parava, Dulquer is expected to join the second schedule of Bejoy Nambiar’s Solo, a bilingual made in Tamil and Malayalam. He has also committed for movies with Lal Jose (Oru Bhayankara Kamukan), Salam Bukhari, Vysakh. Another Tamil movie with the debutant filmmaker Ra Karthik is also in the pipeline. The movie is said to be a romantic entertainer and a travelogue.

He is currently awaiting the relase of Jomonte Suvisheshangal, a family entertainer directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad. He is playing the title character in this movie which also stars Mukesh, Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran, Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh, Muthumani, Vinu Mohan, Jacob Gregory, Innocent and many other actors in prominent roles.

We had earlier reported about Mammootty helping Riyaz, a heart patient to get back to life by lending financial support through his Care and Share Foundation.

Riyaz’s operation was successfully completed and he will be discharged soon. The youngster is longing to meet Mammootty who like an angel helped him to crawl back to life.

Mammootty, apart from being a popular star has always been known for his philanthropic activities. He has financially supported many patients for their treatment.

Riyaz was admitted to the Rajagiri hospital with chest pain last month. 85% of his heart valves were blocked. The doctors suggested for an urgent surgery. Friends and relatives started their desperate efforts to raise funds for the operation. Even after many people came forward with extensive contributions, still they could not cover the entire cost required for the surgery.

The matter somehow reached the local MLA Mr. Anwar Sadath who in turn approached Mammootty. He soon contacted the Rajagiri hospital authorities through the Care and Share Foundation. Thanks to his timely intervention, the foundation and the hospital authorities agreed to bear the surgery costs themselves.

Soon a team lead by Dr. Shiv K Nayar, cardiac surgeons Dr. Rinet Sebastian, Dr. George Valooran, cardiac anaesthetists Dr. Jeo Paul and Dr. Roshith Chandran operated upon Riyaz.

Riyaz is waiting to see his idol soon not just as a fan but also as a thankful benefactor.

Finally that the cinema strike has been called off, makers have started to announce release dates of their movies. Dulquer Salmaan’s family entertainer Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikkad will hit the screens on January 19, Thursday.

Dulquer himself announced the release date through his official Facebook page. His post reads,

“A film we made with so much love and effort. Working tirelessly day and night ! We completed everything including post production before I left for shoot to the US. It was heart breaking to miss Christmas release. To deny all of you any Malayalam films to watch during the holiday season. But as I always believe every film has its own destiny. At long last Jomonte Suvisheshangal is ready for release this Thursday the 19th of January ! Been waiting a long time for all of you to watch the film. Thank you for being patient and for your endless love.”

Jomonte Suvisheshangal written by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram, deals with the relationship between a father and a son. Veteran actor Mukesh is playing Dulquer Salmaan’s father in the movie. Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh play the female leads. Muthumani, Vinu Mohan, Innocent, Jacob Gregory, Manobala and many other actors essay supporting characters.

Director Alphonse Puthren is turning a producer through an upcoming movie directed by one of his friends, Mohsin Kassim. The movie will star Premam actors Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Sharafudheen and Shabareesh Varma in the lead roles.

Alphonse Puthren himself announced the news through his official Facebook account. The post also included a casting call for the role of female lead. Sensible girls in the age group of 18-25, who are affluent in Malayalam are called for the role.

According to these reports, after completing the bilingual project, Alphonse will direct Mohanlal in a Malayalam movie. 1971 Beyond Borders : Asha Sarath to play Mohanlal’s pair again

The second schedule of Mohanlal’s upcoming war drama 1971 Beyond Borders directed by Major Ravi, is currently progressing in Palakkad and surrounding areas. The movie has got a new addition to the already ensemble star cast. Asha Sarath will be playing Mohanlal’s pair in this movie. She has earlier acted with Mohanlal in Drishyam and Major Ravi’s Karmayodha, where she played his wife.

The movie is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Mohanlal is playing two characters Major Mahadevan and Major Sahadevan in this movie. This is the fourth movie in the Major Mahadevan series after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar.

This big budget movie also stars Telugu actor Allu Sirish, Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh, Priyanka Agarwal and Zoya Zayed Khan in major roles. Earlier Nikki Galrani was roped in to play Allu Sirish’s pair but she later opted out of the project owing to date clashes.

Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, Sudheer Karamana and many others are also part of the support cast. First schedule of the movie was completed in Rajasthan in December. There will be another schedule in Uganda where the team is planning to shoot some important scenes.

Riyaz was admitted to the Rajagiri hospital with chest pain last month. Tests indicated a serious heart situation with major blocks in the valves, and the doctors suggested for an urgent surgery. Friends and relatives started their desperate efforts to raise funds for the operation. Even after many people came forward with hefty contributions, still they could not cover the entire cost required for the surgery. The matter somehow reached the local MLA Mr. Anwar Sadath who in turn approached Mammootty.

The actor soon contacted the Rajagiri hospital authorities through the Care and Share Foundation. Thanks to his timely intervention, the foundation and the hospital authorities agreed to bear the surgery costs themselves. Soon a team lead by Dr. Shiv K Nayar, cardiac surgeons Dr. George Valooran, Dr. Rinet Sebastian, cardiac anaesthetists Dr. Jeo Paul and Dr. Roshith Chandran operated upon Riyaz.

The surgery was successfully completed and he has been recovering well. Riyaz will soon be leaving the hospital. He is planning to meet the actor soon after he is discharged from the hospital, not just as a fan but also as a thankful benefactor.
