Kavi Udheshichathu Review
Kavi Udheshichathu is the only release that graced the screens here in Kerala today and it is a film from debutant Thomas Liju Thomas who had become popular through a super hit short film last year named Ramaniyechiyude Namathil which had won great appreciation. Here is our Kavi Udheshichathu review.
This flick has been scripted by Kutti Martin and produced by actor Asif Ali under the banner of Adam’s World of Imagination. The lead roles in this movie has been played by Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Narein and the film had attention from the audience through its decent trailer and teaser that had released last week.
The plot of this movie revolves around the characters named Kavalam Jimmy played by Asif Ali and Vattathil Bosco played by Narein. Both are not in good terms since their school days and will do everything to outsmart the other. Jimmy loves Bosco’s sister and Bosco loves Jimmy’s sister.
In order to get their love, both of them tries all their ways and at last ended up being committed in a bet related to a volleyball tournament in their village. There comes Minnal Simon played by Biju Menon as a Volleyball coach and the movie is telling the story of these three.
We have to say honestly that the director had failed to deliver a decent product as the movie ended up as a disappointment for the audience. The screenplay by Kutti Martin was poor and lots of mediocre comedy and situations made the movie too weak.
Director failed to present the situations in a convincing manner and he did not had any control over the proceeding. The only positive thing about the film is the way they shot the volleyball game and the character of Biju Menon, who played an extended cameo in the movie.
The performance was decent from all artists. Asif Ali was cool as always and Biju Menon had done well in his extended cameo. His character was a kind of repetition of some of his popular characters. Narein was not up to the mark and the characterization was very poor from the part of writer and director.
Female lead Anju Kurian looks charming but there was nothing for her in the movie to perform. Others like Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Sudhi Koppa, Bindu Panikkar, Saiju Kuruppu, Dinesh Prabhakar, Sai Kalinga, Kottayam Pradeep, Biju Kuttan, Manoj etc done a very good job.
DOP from Shehnad Jalal was decent and music from Jakes Bejoy and Vinu Thomas was not up to the mark. Sunil Pillai’s editing was decent as well.
In total, Kavi Udheshichathu is a below average cinematic experience which will disappoint you and let you down if you have any expectation to watch a youthful entertainer which has something fresh in it.
