Kabali, the Rajinikanth starrer Tamil movie which released last day made an earth shattering opening all over the world on its first day, even after amassing only mixed reviews. The film had shattered all box office records made by South Indian films on first day and it had got more than 42 crores from its worldwide run on first day, as per early estimates.

There are reports that the first day Worldwide gross may touch 45 crores as well. But the early estimates suggests that the first day gross will be just around 42 crores. The film had released in more than 5000 screens worldwide last day and got great reception from fans and film lovers. From India alone it had grossed near 30 crore rupees and from outside, it got around 12 crores.

Some unconfirmed reports says that the film had got 32 crore+ from India and around 20 crore from overseas market. If that is the case, then the first day gross of the movie will be above 50 crore rupees. But that report is not a confirmed one and we can’t rely much on that.

The film had raked in 2 Million dollar from USA on its first day and broke the collection records set there earlier by Baahubali and Sultan.

But actress Dhansika who played a very important role in this gangster flick is receiving appreciation from all quarters for her superb performance. Dhansika went for a complete makeover sporting a tomboyish look and has given a knockout performance. Dhansika shot to fame with the brilliant performance in the Bala directorial Paradesi for which she bagged the Filmfare for best supporting actress.

Dhansika will be next seen playing the female lead in Mollywood opposite the hot and happening young star Dulquer Salmaan. This movie titled as Love in Anjengo is written by Anjali Menon. Actor director Prathap Menon after a long gap of 18 years is coming back as a director with this movie.

Unconfirmed reports about popular Tamil and Hindi actor Madhavan playing an extended cameo in this movie have been doing the rounds for sometime now.

Rajeev Menon,one of the finest cinematographers in the country has been roped in as the DOP. With some big names in the technical side as well as the cast, Love in Anjengo is eagerly awaited by the Malayali audience.

The trailer of one of the most awaited movies in Mollywood had arrived yesterday. Yes, we are talking about the trailer of the movie Oppam, which was scripted and directed by Priyafarshan and starred by none other than Super Star Mohanlal. The trailer is getting tremendous response from the viewers and many people is of the opinion that this one is the best trailer released in Mollywood this year. In YouTube too, the trailer is showing good performance and till now the trailer has got more than 2.5 lakh views and moving to hit the 3 lakh mark in good pace. Now, the big question in everybody’s mind is that will Oppam trailer surpass the record of Dulquer’s Kali trailer or not.

Kali trailer was released in this year March and become the most viewed Malayalam movie trailer in YouTube. In 24 hour time it had got more than 4 lakh views in YouTube. It will be difficult for Oppam trailer to surpass that record because of a few reasons. One is that Kali was one of the most hyped movies in Mollywood prior to its release. The genre of the movie was one like that. Oppam had not made such a hype yet because of the ordinary man kind of character Mohanlal playing in this movie.

The second reason is that Oppam trailer had released in theaters with Kabali at many screens here in Kerala and that made many to stay away from YouTube as they had already watched the trailer in cinema halls. But still people raises the question of whether it will surpass Kali record or not. The impact of a Mohanlal film is huge here in Mollywood and unarguably the biggest we can say. That may be the reason behind the raising of this question.

Few days earlier, the team behind Puli Murugan, the most awaited flick of this year starred by Super Star Mohanlal, had announced its releasing date and they said that their movie will hit the screens on October 7. They chose the Pooja Holidays window to release the big budget movie directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaya Krishna. The flick has been bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner of Mulakupadam films and it is an action adventure movie primarily aimed at the fans of Mohanlal.

This film is said to be the biggest Malayalam film in the career of Mohanlal in terms of its budget and some reports also says that this is the biggest budget Malayalam movie till now as well. But according to the latest reports that coming in, Puli Murugan will have to face Thoppil Joppan starred by Megastar Mammotty on October 7. The team behind the film had confirmed that they too will release their movie on the same day looking for the Pooja Holidays window.

Thoppil Joppan is a family entertainer directed by Johny Antony and scripted by Nishad Koya. Mammootty plays a Kabaddi player and an owner of a Kabaddi team named Cheers as well. Johny Antony had given a mass hit like Thuruppu Gulan for Mammootty years back and that itself making this combo a deadly one.

Anyway it will be an interesting box office fight between the two Emperors of Malayalam Film industry and this Pooja Holidays is going to be a special one for movie lovers.

The Neo Film School in Kochi is all set to conduct a Script Pitching Festival named Pitch Room in Kerala. They are conducting this event with the aim to support upcoming writers who has good stories and screenplays with them, and needs an opportunity to present it before directors and producers in our industry.

If you have a story with you, then submit the synopsis of the story after visiting the official site of Neo Film School. If your story is selected, then you will be invited to take part in a pitching workshop for one day and then on the next day you will get the chance to meet a panel of directors and producers to share your story with them. If your story was good enough to impress them, then you can have further discussion with the director or producer who want that story.

Kabali piracy issue: Big loss to producer

The Kollywood film named Kabali starred by Super Star Rajinikanth had released all over the world today and getting only below average reviews from all corners. That was indeed a big blow to the team of the film. Now, adding to their woes, the high definition print of the movie has leaked online through the video hosting platform named Vimeo. The leaked print has 2 hour length and we can also see the watermark of TamilGun.Com in the screenshots taken from that leaked print of the movie.

As per reports, the leaked pirated print spread all around through social media platforms before it was removed from online by the authorities. This piracy issue will affect Kabali big time as well. Because reports says that already 2 million people had viewed that leaked print before it was removed. If we consider the normal ticket rate of 100 rupees, the producer had to suffer a loss of 20 crore rupees. The ticket rate is quite high in Tamil Nadu and some other stations and the loss is going to be very high when we consider that.

Last day, a threat had come from Tamil Rockers team that they will upload the pirated print of the movie online and spread it like wildfire. It was a direct threat to Kabali team through the Facebook page in the name of Tamil Rockers. There are reports that the makers of this film had moved legally and blocked that site after their threat. Kalaipuli S Thanu who bankrolled this movie approached the honorable Court even before the release of the movie and got a favorable judgement from court to block all internet sites which uploads and spreads pirated prints. The introduction scene of Rajinikanth from this movie had leaked last day and it is now spreading through WhatsApp all around.

This piracy issue is now killing cinema in India. Even big industries like Bollywood is suffering setback due to this piracy issue. We have to react against this issue and it’s time to say no to pirated prints and save the art called cinema.

Oppam is scripted and directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. Mohanlal is playing a visually challenged character named Jayaraman in this movie, who happens to be the only eye witness of a murder that occurs at a flat compound.

The trailer editing done by Alphonse Puthren was fabulous and the way he distributed the shots according to the background music was just terrific to watch. Ron Ethan Yohan is the one who scored the background music and it was thrilling indeed. The trailer also introduced as some characters in the movie played by Nedumudi Venu, Renji Panicker, Chemban Vinod, Baby Meenakshi, Vimala Raman etc.

The trailer gives the feel of Mohanlal’s character, who is a blind man. He seems like playing an ordinary man who was caught up in a mess and trying to resolve it. From the trailer itself we can sense the natural way in which he had portrayed that blind man character.

There is also a shot in the trailer which shows why blind people wear a watch and how it works. It seems as a reply from Priyadarshan to those ones who had earlier trolled the first look poster of the movie saying that a blind man wearing a watch is a big mistake from the part of the director.
