Anuraga Karikkin Vellam Collection Report – 16 Days

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam has emerged as the box office winner in the race between Eid films and it is still going strong at box office amassing great reviews from all over. As per the latest collection report we got from the trade guides in our industry, the film had raked in an amount near 8.5 crore from its 16 days run here in Kerala. It is a superb figure considering the slow start it got and later the Kabali domination in the screens here.

The film directed by debutant Khalid Rahman and written by Naveen Bhaskar is a feel good family entertainer in which Biju Menon, Asif Ali, Rajisha Vijayan, Asha Sharath, Sreenath Bhasi, Soubin Shahir, Irshad, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Sudheer Karamana etc played the key roles. Rajisha Vijayan, the female lead who made her debut through this movie had got great applause from all around through her fabulous performance in it.

The flick had crossed 1 crore from Ernakulam multiplexes as well and it is the first and only movie to do so among the Eid releases here. August Cinemas had produced this movie using a budget around 3.5 crore.

Mohanlal to take up the distribution of Vijay 60 in Kerala ?

Mohanlal, one of the biggest star here in Kerala had took up the distribution of Kollywood’s biggest star Rajinikanth’s movie and it had become one of the most discussed topic here. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad through Maxlab, distributed Rajinikanth’s Kabali here on July 22 and the film had hit 300 screens here in Kerala, which was a record in Mollywood history.

Aashirvad Cinemas owned by Mohanlal and Antony Perumbavoor is now one of the most successful and influential production company in Kerala and when it comes to the distribution, Maxlab owned by Mohanlal is the strongest here in Mollywood. This Kabali release is the proof of that. Now, some rumors doing its round in Social Media that Aashirvad Cinemas had showed interest in taking up the Kerala distribution of Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay’s next film.

The film directed by Bharathan, which is tentatively titled as Vijay 60 is now in its filming stage and the film will only hit the screens in next year Pongal season. Kabali crossed 250 crore mark on its first day itself, says Producer

Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer of the Super Star Rajinikanth movie Kabali has really stunned the world with his shocking revelation to media about the first day collections of his film Kabali. He reportedly said to media that his film Kabali had touched the 250 crore mark on its first day itself from the worldwide screens.

According to him, the movie had grossed over 100 crores from screens in Tamil Nadu alone and the gross collection from other screens including the rest of India and overseas market will touch 150 crores as well. Thus the total gross of the movie from its day one had touched 250 crores, according to Thanu.

The cinema world is still in disbelief as they can’t even imagine how this happened and from where this much collection came from. Trade analysts reported that the movie had earned between 40-50 crores on its day one. From Tamil Nadu, it got a record figure around 21 crore.

The total gross from India stand around 32 crores and the total worldwide figure may touch 50 crores as well, according to trade guides. But the figure gave by Thanu is just unbelievable and now it has become the topic of discussion in social media.

Vijay starrer Theri had got more than 2.40 crore on its opening day here and the film had got 210 screens here. Even though some media reports came that Theri collected 3.16 crores on its opening day, we are informed by Vijay Babu, the distributor of the film here, that the actual first day figure of the movie is 2.4 crore only.

This Dulquer Salmaan starrer had made 2.33 crore on its first day from 120 screens here in Kerala. The flick was distributed here by Central Pictures. Kali was directed by Sameer Thahir.

Kaththi (2014)

The Vijay starrer directed by Murugados had got around 2.24 crore on its opening day here and it had got around 165 screens.

Charlie (2015)

This Martin Prakatte directorial Dulquar Salman starrer had got 2.18 crore from its opening day here and it had got around 120 screen as well. It was distributed here by Playhouse release in association with tricolor entertainment.

Loham (2015)

This Mohanlal movie is directed by Renjith and it had got above 2.14 crore on its opening day from here. The film was distributed here by Maxlab and got around 141 screens.

Maheshinte Prathikaram team again with Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum

Maheshinte Prathikaram is the most loved movie of this year in Mollywood and it was the first blockbuster of this year as well here. The film marked the debut of Dileesh Pothen as a director and it also become instrumental in the grand comeback from Fahad Fazil who had some terrible years before that in box office. Aashiq Abu had bankrolled that project and it was a great success critically as well.

Now, Dileesh Pothen had announced his second project and Fahad Fazil will play the hero in that movie too. It is titled as Thondimuthalum Driksaakshiyum and will start rolling at Kasargod very soon. The film will be bankrolled by Sandeep Senan and Aneesh M Thomas under the banner of Urvashi Theaters and the screenplay of this film will be written by Sajeev Pazhoor, who is a popular Journalist is Kerala.

Media have to give more importance to Malayalam cinema rather than Kabali, says Vinayan

Super Star Rajinikanth starrer Kabali had released all over yesterday and in Kerala alone it had got 306 screens and got grand reception from fans and film lovers. But there are some criticism also coming from various corners related to the big release of Tamil films here, removing Malayalam movies from theaters.

Now, popular director Vinayan had come out through his Facebook post and said that our medias, like newspapers and television channels have to give more importance to Malayalam films than other language films like Kabali.
Vinayan said that our medias had given a publicity to Kabali which has played a big part in its grand opening. But we have to consider the fact that these medias not gives such marketing to even films from our super stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal here.

He said that if our medias get ready to give such publicity for our movies, them Malayalam film industry will escape from big losses. Vinayan says that even after receiving crores of rupees from the producers here, our ,edias not giving enough publicity for Malayalam movies.

According to him, our Medias sells our stars by conducting events with them, writing their stories, printing their face on the magazine covers etc. But when it comes to the promotion and marketing of our movies, these medias not showing much interest and they are taking the side of Tamil films like Kabali instead.

He also criticized the attitude of various associations in our industry, who allows the big releases of other language films here. According to Vinayan, films like Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Kasaba etc may have ran few more days if Kabali not released in such a big number of screens here.

Super Star Rajnikanth had weaved his magic at Kerala box office as well last day, with his movie named Kabali which released all over the world yesterday. Despite getting mixed reviews from the viewers, the film had created an all- time record in the first day gross collection in Kerala.

The film had earned 4.2 crore rupees from its first day run from Kerala and it had surpassed the previous record set by Vikram movie I last year by getting 3.19 crore on its first day from here. The Shankar directorial Vikram movie had got 220 screens here in Kerala and it was distributed here by Global United Media.

Kabali has been distributed here by none other than Mollywood Super Star Mohanlal and it had got 306 screens here, which was also a new record in Kerala. Mohanlal-Vijay starrer movie Jilla was the record holder here before I broke that record. Jilla earned 2.68 crore on Day 1 from here and got 207 screens here.

Kabali had mostly generated negative reviews. But that cannot stop the film from making records at box office. In Ernakulam multiplexes also it had made a few records. The film had 95 shows there on day one and the previous best was Action Hero Biju, which had 59 shows. The film had got an occupancy rate of 99.99% on Day 1 and that too is a record at Ernakulam multiplexes. The first day gross of the movie from day one there was 30.21 lakhs and thus Kabali had become the first ever movie to cross 30 lakhs mark on its very first day itself from multiplexes of Ernakulam.

The film had close to 2000 shows on day 1 and bookings for the second day also very strong at all the centers for this movie. Pa Ranjith had directed this flick and it was bankrolled by Kalipuli S Thanu.

There were reports came in some media that Vijay starrer Theri had collected 3.16 crore on its first day from here. When we contacted the distributor Vijay Babu for an official confirmation regarding this, we got the info that the actual first day collection of the movie from Kerala is around 2.4 crore. That is why we did not added it in the top 3 list of highest first day grossing movies from here.
