Joju George shines with his cameo role in Thuramukham

Thuramukham, which managed to hit screens last Friday continues to get excellent response from critics and cinephiles. The Rajeev Ravi directorial is a hard-hitting documentation of the 1953 police firing in Mattanchery that killed three protesting workers. Scripted by Gopan Chidambaran, it is an epic saga spanning multiple timelines.

While the performances by all the actors have been praised, it seems like Joju George’s cameo role that has impressed the most. The actor plays a character named Maimu in it. Though his screentime is limited, the actor delivers a terrific performance. Starting off in a restrained manner, we soon learn that he is a volcano waiting to burst as we see him breaking free in a realistic-yet-powerful fight scene. With that, the actor once again proves how good he is in action sequences.

In ‘Thuramukham’, the history is told through Maimu’s family. Nivin Pauly plays his elder son’s character named Moidu and Arjun Ashokan essays his brother’s role. Poornima Indrajith plays the part of their mother. The film has some other brilliant actors in the supporting cast including Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Sudev Nair, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari.
