Kasaba to grace the screens in Kerala before White

Mammootty had finished two films and they are getting ready for release. Even though the film directed by Uday Ananthan titled White has been the film which got completed first, Nithin Renji Panicker directorial film Kasaba is going to hit the screens here first as per reports. White has been planned as a Vishu release this year but postponed several times already.

At first it had postponed to April 29 from April 14. Then it postponed to May 20 and now there is no update regarding its release date. Some reports which came earlier said that it may release in the coming August. Kasaba is reportedly releasing in this coming July as an Eid Release in Mollywood even though it is not a confirmed report from the team behind the film. But the anticipation is that the film will hit the screens here in July.

White was in the news because of its star cast and production banner. Global biggie Eros international has produced this film and Bollywood beauty Huma Qureshi played the female lead in the movie opposite Mammootty. But there are some rumors doing its round that White release has delayed due to the unavailability of screens for the film.

In Kasaba, Mammootty is playing a cop named Rajan Zakariah and it is the maiden venture of Nithin Renji Panicker. Kollywood actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is playing a key role in the film as well.

Mammootty’s Onam release this year will be Thoppil Joppan directed by Johny Antony and written by Nishad Koya. Mamta Mohandas and Andrea Jeremiah is playing the female leads in it.

Kammatipaadam Collection Report – 2 Days

Kammatipaadam aka Kammatti Padam   starred by Dulquer Salmaan had hit the screens on Friday. This film is directed by Rajeev Ravi who had earlier given us some class realistic films like Annayum Rasoolum and Njan Steve Lopez. Even though they were box office flops, those films got great critical appreciation for the quality it has aesthetically.

This time Rajeev Ravi come up with a film based on the gangster history of Kochi and P Balachandran, who is a famous writer and actor had written the screenplay for this film. Even though the film expected to take a record breaking opening here at Kerala, it did not really happened due to various factors on its first day.

The first day figure of this film is around 1.25 crore, which is not a great opening for a Dulquer Salmaan film. The second day showed drop in collection and as per the reports coming in from trade guides, the film had got around 1.15 crores on its day 2 from here.

Thus the total two days figure the film had earned from Kerala is around 2.4 crores. The rain all around the state, Hartals due to political issues at some places and the reputation of Rajeev Ravi films being not great entertainers were the main reasons for the low returns on the first day.

Even though this time Rajeev Ravi had made a realistic film with mass appeal, the audience reviews were mixed. That had affected the second day collections of the film. Now, we have to wait and see what will be the total figure earned by this movie after the completion of its first weekend.

Ozhivu Divasathe Kali directed and written by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is all set to release on June 17. He already told through social media pages that no one has come forward to distribute this film as they fears to support films without stars in it. So the team behind the film distributing it.

The film is scripted by the director based on the story by Unni R and it had won many recognitions at various film festivals and won state award as well. Sanal said that those who saw the film in its special screenings at Mumbai and Delhi expressed their love for the movie through their personal messages to him. Now, noted Malayalam Literary figure NS Madhavan also praised the film Ozhivu Divasathe Kali through his twitter account.

NS Madhavan tweeted that Ozhivu Divasathe Kali is a breakthrough film in Malayalam cinema. He said that he never been so deeply impacted by a Malayalam film other than this flick in last few decades. That much is the impact it had on him after watching it, says NS Madhavan.

Sanal Kumar also said that this film will be an experience for the viewers and will be a never seen before one too. He requested everyone to support this flick and the support for this small, experimental yet path breaking movie will do good to Malayalam cinema as a whole and will guide it to achieve new heights of cinematic experience.

Jayaram starrer film Aadu Puliyattam had hit the screens on May 20th and getting mixed reviews from all over. As per reports, Aadupuliyattam has got the best review for a Jayaram film in recent years and this one was directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. He had made his debut through another Jayaram starrer last year titled Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare which was unfortunately a box office failure. But he had made a decent come back through this film scripted by Dinesh Pallathu based on a myth, which is 600 years old.

Apart from Jayaram and Tamil actress Ramya Krishnan, Baby Akshara Kishore had played an important role in this film and now she is getting all the appreciation for her terrific performance in it. She plays Aami, the daughter character of Jayaram in this movie and actress/producer Sheelu Abraham plays her mother.

Baby Akshara Kishore had just took the audience in her hand with her cute and charming performance in the first half of the film and she just stunned the audience in the second half with an unexpected performance. She really played the character which has to exhibit dual mannerisms well and she had done it with ease. Her expressions at many points were priceless and we can say that a highly talented artist is in the making stage.

The technical side of the movie is also good. Ratheesh Vega’s Background scoring and Jithu Damodar’s DOP had just elevated the quality of the film. The horror effects were very good and the film has the potential to deliver at box office if family support comes in to play.

Pulimurugan, the much awaited Mohanlal movie is on its way and the first teaser of the film had released yesterday. The teaser had got great response from social media and gone viral. It had become trending in social media all over India as well. Now, Pulimurugan teaser had set new record in Mollywood history as it surpassed all existing teaser records made here in 24 hours.

Earlier Dulquer Salmaan starrer movie Charlie directed by Martin Prakatt had released its trailer last year and it had got more than 4 lakh views in 24 hours. Then Dulquer’s Kali trailer had come in March and it had crossed 4 lakh in 22 hours and broke Charlie record. But now Pulimurugan teaser had crossed all that views and broke Charlie and Kali records. Now Pulimurugan has record views in YouTube from 24 hours and the view count is on its way to 5 lakh.

On the way, the teaser of Pulimurugan had broken the teaser record set by Dulquer movie Kammattipadam as well which had got 2.6 lakh views in 24 hours. Pulimurugan teaser had crossed that mark in just 11 hours. It is very interesting thing to know that this is the first teaser release of a Mohanlal film after last year October.

Charlie, Kali, Kammattipadam teasers and trailers had released from last year December. As usual, when Mohanlal films were not there, others made some records and when a Mohanlal films comes, it shatters all those previous records with ease.

Dulquer Salmaan starrer film Kammatipaadam had released yesterday all over Kerala. This film directed by Rajeev Ravi is scripted by actor/director P Balachandran and the female lead was played by Shaun Romy. The film expected to take a huge opening in theaters here but that not really happened this time.

As per the reports coming in, the film had earned only around 1.25 crores on its first day and that is a disappointing figure when we consider the opening day collections of Dulquer Salmaan’s last two films. His film Charlie directed by Martin Prakkat had got 2.06 crores and Kali directed by Sameer Thahir had got around 2.33 crores on Day 1.

The reasons for a comparatively low opening day collection for this film are quite a few. One is the rain, which had hit Kerala for last few days and it had affected the status of the film at many centers were it rained heavily. Then, there are Hartals at some place due to some political issues in the state and the shows of the film were cancelled there.

The third reason is that usually Rajeev Ravi films are hardcore realistic films without much elements of entertainment in it. That reputation may have affected the film even though it is not a hardcore realistic film. The film had opened to mixed reviews and at some places that may have affected the film as well.

Anyway let’s hope that the film picks up in the comings and make great returns from the box office in its first weekend. Vinayakan and Manikandan are the real heroes in this film as they are receiving great appreciation from all over.

But still there are some people who trolls the teaser by saying that there is no Leopard in the movie and instead there is a tiger is been used. So they tells that the title is a mismatch for the movie. But Mohanlal explains the reason behind that move to use tiger in the movie and also about the title.

Mohanlal says that it is almost impossible to shoot using a real Leopard as its speed is awesome and a man running with Leopard will look very unrealistic. On the other side Tiger does not have that much speed like a Leopard and it has a weight of above 300 kilos that reduces its speed compared to that of a Leopard. More than that it is hard to get trained leopards but trained Tiger is available for shoot. That is the main reason why they used a tiger in this film.

He also answers about the queries related to the title Pulimurugan. In Malayalam, a tiger is called Varayan puli and leopard is called Pullippuli. So the name Puli Murugan is justified as the varayan Puli (Tiger) is used in this film.

He said that the most beautiful thing about this film is the level of performance it had captured. Many actors performed really well in this movie and Vineeth Sreenivasan says that he is very happy to see Shine Tom Chacko in a significant role in the movie. Vineeth Sreenivasan said that he had worked with shine in two films and he is a hard working guy. But some misfortunes happened in his life later and now it is great to see him back in action.
