Kerala Box Office : Kali Final Collection Report

Dulquer Salmaan starrer flick kali was released on March 26 this year. This flick was directed by Sameer Thahir and scripted by Rajesh Gopinath. Handmade films owned by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid and Ashiq Usman had produced this film. Premam fame heroine Sai Pallavi had played the female lead in this movie opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film had took a record opening in Mollywood as it had earned a figure around 2.33 crores from its opening day here at Kerala.

From the first weekend itself it had grossed above 5.5 crore. But the film had received only mixed opinions and the collection dropped down later. As per the reports coming in from trade guides here, the final gross of the film from Kerala is 14.1 crore.

The exact figure including the worldwide collection and satellite right will be available soon and we will update those details once it is available to us. The lack of family support had affected the film after the fantastic opening it had, mainly due to the support of youngsters for Dulquer films.

The grand success of family entertainers like King Liar, Jacobinte Swargarajyam also become a reason for the drop down in collection for Kali. Big release of Tamil film like Theri also took away screens from Kali. Still the film is a profitable venture for the producers thanks to the fabulous opening it got.

For last few days, a report is doing its round in some media that popular movie director Priyadarshan and his ex-wife Lissy s all set for a remarriage and they will marry again on this coming December. Lissy had filed a divorce petition against Priyadarshan in last year and the case is still in the court. Both of them are living separately now as well.

The report says that Lissy had divorced Priyadarshan after she had been advised by an astrologer that she had to live separately from Priyadarshan for 2 years in order to save his life and also for the well -being of her family. The astrologer reportedly told her that she have to keep this as a secret from him as well. Lissy obeyed him and that is what led towards the divorce issue. But Lissy had come out against this news as she slammed all this reports saying that these all are fake news and she will never live with Priyadarshan again.

She said that the reason for their divorce is well known to both of them and to their children. So there is no way that they will live together again. The case is still in the court and the procedures will be over within 3 month time. Lissy said that all other reports coming in were just framed ones by media.

Lissy pleaded to the media to let her live her life and don’t make these kind of fake news about the private life of others. It is very painful to go through these kind of situations and she requested not to celebrate this by making baseless reports.

Kammatipaadam Collection Report – 3 Days

Kammatipaadam aka Kammatti Padam, the Rajeev Ravi-Dulquer Salmaan film released on May 20th is doing decent business at theaters here in Kerala. The film written by P Balachandran had got mixed reviews from the audience but got great appreciation from critics and celebrities. Even though the film does not made a record opening, it had got more than 1 crore in each of the 3 days in its first weekend.

As per the latest trade reports, the film had earned a figure above 3.9 crore from its first weekend. It had a fairly good Sunday and that helped the film to come near 4 crore mark in its first weekend itself.

On its first day the film had got around 1.25 crore. It was not a great opening at all when consider the star value of Dulquer Salmaan. But various factors contributed to that low opening including weather in the state. The second day earning of the film was around 1.15 crore and from Friday and Saturday, the film had earned around 2.40 crore.

As expected, the Sunday has been good to the film and the flick grossed around 1.5 crore on that day which was a public holiday. Thus the total figure in first weekend touched 3.90 crore+.

From Ernakulam Multiplexes, the film had raked in 27 lakhs from 3 days of its run there and from Chennai it got around 5 lakhs from 3 days as well.

We had already reported that the award winning Malayalam movie named Ozhivu Divasathe Kali is going to hit the screens on June 17 this year. We also said that the team behind the film is releasing this movie of their own in limited screens because other big distributors in Malayalam cinema avoided this small film due to the absence of stars in it despite being one of the best films made last year.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan had directed this movie. He had wrote the screenplay based on the story of Unni R, a noted writer and screen writer in Kerala now. Sanal himself told through Facebook post that his film is not getting support from popular and prominent distributors here and that is why they decided to release it using their own limited sources. But now everything has changed as popular director and producer Aashiq Abu had come forward and took the mantle of distributing this film in screens here in Kerala.

Now it is sure that the film will get a good number of screens here, as Ashiq Abu is a popular figure from Malayalam film industry. This movie had won various prestigious awards including State film award. It was screened at many film festivals and many people become a fan of this film after watching it in film festivals and special screening at places like Mumbai and Delhi.

Prominent literary figure like NS Madhavan also came forward saying that this film had made a great impact on him and it was such an experience for him.

Kammatipaadam aka Kammatti Paadam, the Rajeev Ravi directorial film is now getting all the attention from the critics and audience here in Kerala. This P Balachandran scripted and Dulquer Salmaan starrer is really making an impact here in Mollywood. There are many reasons for that but what comes first is that it unveils a lost history before you. The fascination it gives us was fabulous and at the same time it gives us the feeling of loss too. Village changes to concrete jungle with time and people who lived there loses their identity as well with that evolution.

Rajeev Ravi had captured each frame including all the subtle details in it which gave the audience every beat of the change that happened over the years in Kochi specially. The film is a realistic tale from the perspective of the people who were marginalized when the industrialization took over Kochi and they are still finding it hard to cope with the changes that had come over time. Kammattipadam gives us a detailed account of how the changes came into effect and how this new Kochi was built on the marshy land of Kammatipaadam.

It also shows how some people made this Kochi, by standing on the lives of some others. They never cared to look down or may be look back as they are going skywards. It also shows us how the goonda gangs in Kochi becomes the tool in the hands of the real estate mafia and how they used the marginalized people who became criminals to survive in the rapidly changing city. The land mafia used the gangs in Kochi against each other and in the film it shows how the people from Kammattipadam turns against each other under the influence of these mafia.

Rajeev Ravi masterfully weaved each and every incidents in the movie as it complimented each other and the screenplay was too good as it had all the details. The writer had every details with him about the people of kammattipadam, their customs, beliefs and about how their life transformed over the years. Vinayakan and Manikanadan just lived as Gangan and Balan and Rajeev Ravi succeeded in bringing out the best from them.

Kammatipaadam is not just a movie, it’s a door which opens before you to the history of Kochi city and it tells you how the transformation that came over the years had affected the people there.

For last few days, a report has been spreading in social media which says that Young Star Nivin Pauly going to play Villain in his upcoming Tamil movie directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran. This Tamil film will be the remake of the super hit Kannada film named Ulidavaru Kandanthe. But the fact is that Nivin Pauly is not playing the villain in this movie. The report coming in are all fake. The lead male character in this film has some negative characteristics and Nivin Pauly plays the hero of this film who has some negative shades.

The original Kannada film had a hero character who had some negative touches in his characterization. That fact is misunderstood by some media and they spread the news that Nivin Pauly is coming back to Tamil cinema playing a villain character. Rakshit Shetty played the lead in the kannada film and he was the one who directed and written the film as well.

The story of this upcoming Tamil film will be set in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Nivin Pauly’s character will have a rough side to it. It will be an action-crime drama and will be an anthology of five stories connected to a crime scene.

Nivin Pauly will have Malayalam films directed by Sidharth Siva, Althaf, Vinay Govind etc as well this year in Malayalam.

Young star Dulquer Salmaan played the lead role in the film and he played a character named Krishnan. The film had got mixed reviews from the common audience and good reviews from critics. Kammatipaadam is getting attention for its making style and also for the amazing performances from artists like Vinayakan and Manikandan.

The first two day collection of the film is around 2.40 crore and it is too not on the higher side if we consider the collections which Dulquer’s last two films earned in its first two days. Rain, Hartal at some places and mixed reviews had affected the status of the film. Along with that another threat also came for the film as some screen shots are spreading in social media saying that it is taken from the censor copy of the film which is leaked out.

But the fact of the matter is that those screen shots are not from the censor copy. But from the trailer of the film. Some people are trying to make the audience stay away from the theater by spreading this fake news about the censor copy of this film. If the news spread that the censor copy of the film is released, then some people will wait for it and they will not got the screens to watch the film.

It seems to be a deliberate attempt to degrade and destroy this film. The box office response is already not very healthy and these kind of news can really affect the run of the film badly.

Major Ravi said that Mohanlal never uses dupes to do stunts and in films like Keerthichakra and Kurukshetra directed by him Mohanlal done all stunts by himself. Even youngsters were fainted while doing action scenes at a place where oxygen is less. But Mohanlal stood firm and did all stunts by himself. Even the youngsters in the crew cannot able to match Mohanlal’s stamina and speed. Major Ravi wished Mohanlal a Happy birthday and healthy years ahead just like this.

If the reports coming in are to be believed, there will be a Vijay Vs Vikram fight at box office in Kollywood, this year last or may be next year first. As per reports, Ilaya Thalapathy film tentatively titled as Vijay 60 and Chiyan Vikram film titled Garuda will release on the same date.

Rumors says that both films are aiming a Deepavali release this year or Pongal release next year. Vijay 60 is directing by Bharathan who had directed Azhakiya Tamil Magan with Vijay in the lead earlier. Keerthi Suresh is playing the female lead in this movie and it had started filming as well.

Vikram is currently working in two films. One is Irumugan directed by Anand Shankar and other is Garuda by Thiru. Irumugan is almost at its last stage of filming and Garuda will start right after that. Kajal Agarwal to play the female lead in Garuda as per reports. Vijay’s latest film Theri released in this April became a blockbuster success with more than 200 crores worldwide collection till now.

Vijay and Vikram are great friends and it will be interesting if the films of them clashes at box office. Years back, Vijay’s Sivakashi and Vikram’s Maja had clashed at box office.
