How does Mollywood box office fared in its first 4 months of 2016 ?

The first 4 months of the year 2016 had almost passed and Mollywood had done fairly good business when we look at an overall picture. But still it is not a great start to the year. Two more releases may come in this month by this weekend and the box office status of those will can only be determined after 2-3 weeks. So we are now clear about where Malayalam cinema stands in its commercial scheme of things when the first 4 months of the year had almost completed.

In January we saw the first the release of a handful of films. But only two films made money at box office. The first one was only an average grosser. It was Style directed by Binu S starring Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas. The low budget made it a profitable venture as per reports. Then came the first super hit of this year and that too from the man of last year. Prithviraj Sukumaran delivered the first super hit of this year with Pavaada directed by Marthandan. The film had made around 15 crore as per final estimation.

February was indeed a good month for Mollywood. We saw two blockbusters and two average grossers at Box office. The blockbusters ere come from Nivin Pauly and Fahad Fazil as their film Action Hero Biju and Maheshinte Prathikaram had done a great job at box office. Both films had made more than 15 crores rom Kerala alone and done a great business overseas too. Action Hero Biju had done a total business near 30 crore and Maheshinte Prathikaram made a box office fortune around 20 crore from Worldwide Box office. Action Hero Biju is directed by Abrid Shine and Maheshinte Prathikaram was directed by Debutant Dileesh Pothen.

We saw two average successes like Puthiya Niyamam by Mammootty-AK Sajan team and Vettah by Late Rajesh Pillai and Kunchacko Boban. Puthiya Niyamam grossed around 11 crore from Worldwide box office and Vettah had grossed around 7-8 crore. In March we saw a super hit and an average grosser. Prithviraj starrer Darwinte Parinamam by Jijo Antony is the average grosser which got around 11-12 crores from Worldwide box office. Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kali is the super hit of the month which grossed around 12 crore from Kerala alone and still running here.

In April we saw 2 super hits like King Liar by Dileep and Jacobinte Swargarajyam by Nivin Pauly. Both had as of now grossed around 15 crore from Kerala and still running with decent collections. There is all chance that these two films also may be end up as blockbusters.

Anyway these are the 10 films which had made any kind of impact at box office of Kerala. Almost 40 films released till now and around 30 films had bombe at box office.

Aadupuliyattam to release in 600 theaters all over India

Jayaram starrer horror film Aadupuliyattam is all set to hit the screens and the censoring of the film is over last week. As per reports the film will hit the screens in this coming weekend. Aadupuliyattam directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam and written by Dinesh Pallathu is looking for a record release all over India for a Malayalam movie as they are planning to release the film in almost 600 screens.

The flick will have Tamil and Telugu version as well as per reports and will get good number of screens there too. Haseeb Haneef and Noushad Alathur had produced the film under the banner of Grande Film Corporation and the movie will be distributed in Kerala by Anto Joseph Film Company.

The flick has great star cast in it which includes Remya Krishnan, Sambathu, Ompuri, Saju Navodaya, Ramesh Pisharody, Sheelu Abraham, Baby Akshara Kishore etc. The audio launch of the film had occurred at a grand level and the songs already became super hits. The trailer and video song that came out getting great attention from film lovers.

Ratheesh Vega had composed the songs for this film and it had got a record audio right as well. Jithu Damodar is the DOP of this big budget horror film.

Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothen joins Dulquer Salmaan in Amal Neerad movie

The much awaited Amal Neerad-Dulquer Salmaan film had started shooting at Ramapuram near Pala. It had started its filming few days ago and there were already news came that the release of this film will only be in October even though they are planned it to be on September earlier. Now some new details about the film is coming and it is about the casting in the film. Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothen joins the film and will play key roles in this flick along with Dulquar Salman.

Dileesh Pothen had recently directed the blockbuster film Maheshinte Prathikaram with Fahad Fazil in the lead, which also had Soubin Shahir played an important role in it. Both of them had acted in Amal Neerad’s film Kullante Bharya with Dulquer Salmaan earlier. So in this film also that team is uniting again and the DOP of that film Kullante Bharya is roped in to crank the camera in this upcoming film too. Ranadive is the cinematographer of this Amal Neerad film. Soubin Shahir was earlier acted in Dulquer Salmaan-Sameer Thahir film Kali and last year film Charlie directed by Martin Prakatt with Dulquer Salman as well.

The screenplay of this film is written by Shibin Francis who earlier wrote the story of Prithviraj-Marthandan film Pavada. Actor Siddique also playing a key role in this flick, which will be his first ever appearance in an Amal Neerad movie. The heroine of this film is Anu Emmanuel who shot to fame through the Nivin Pauly-Abrid Shine film Action Hero Biju this year.

The first schedule of this flick will wrap within a month and then they will go for a schedule abroad and the location is yet to be finalized, says the director. This movie is produced by Amal Neerad and Anwar Rasheed together.

Dulquer Salmaan’s last two films were success in box office and he will join Pratap Pothen-Anjali Menon film after he completes the Amal Neerad film. Meanwhile Soubin Shahir is all set to start his directorial venture named Parava after the shoot of this film as per reports.

Prithviraj starrer film Karnan, which will be the biggest film ever made in Malayalam cinema will start its filing in the coming September and it will have a budget above 100 crore rupees as per reports. The film will have an animated version as well. They are making the digital story board of the film now and it will be released as the animate version of the film through TV Channels and DVD’s. The songs using in the original film will be used in digital animation version as well along with the sound of lead artists like Prithviraj.

The film will start shooting at locations of Hyderabad and Rajasthan and they are trying to release the film in next year September month. It will have Tamil, Telugu and Hindi version as well and will be released in 4000 screens all over the world. The film will have artists from Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood etc and the details about the cast list will be updated once it is finalized.

Prithviraj will play the title role of Karnan in all 4 languages. The war scenes in the movie will be shot at Hyderabad Ramoji Rao film city by making huge sets for it. Senthil Kumar, the one who is behind the camera of Bahubali will crank the camera of this flick and Gopi Sundar will be the music director of the film.

Dubai businessman Venu Kunnappilly is producing this film under the banner of Kavya Films. It will be for the first time in India that the reel version an animated version of the film is releasing back to back and RS Vimal is all set to make history here. He is the one who introduced Digital story board through the film Ennu Ninte Moideen and now introducing the first full-fledged animation version of a feature film as well.

RS Vimal said that Ennu Ninte Moideen was done using his heart and this film Karnnan will be done using the brain as there is so much technicalities involved with this project.

There was a news that came in online mMedias that actress Bhama has been blocked by the crowd after she was trying to avoid and go away from an inauguration ceremony at Muvatupuzhalast day after she had some disagreement regarding her remuneration she asked for the event. The news spread that she asked almost 1.5 lakh more on that day than the earlier amount which was agreed by her when they booked her for the function. Later when she asked 2.5 lakhs instead of 1 lakh, which she reportedly agreed earlier, the problem arises between her and the organizers and she tried to leave the scene without inaugurating the textile shop.

But crowd gather there blocked her car and thing went out of control there for sometimes as per reports. But Bhama explains what really happened there at Muvatupuzha through her Facebook page and she had clearly reacted against the fake reports that is spreading related to that episode there.

Bhama said that she was cheated by a middleman in this issue and his name is Sreejith Rajamani. He came to book her for the event and he said he is the managing director of the event management group named Unique Models and Celebrity Management. He agreed to give 2.5 lakh to her as remuneration and said that he will give her 1 lakh as advance. But only 15000 rupees had come to her account. But she went to the inauguration event hoping that the issues will be sorted there.

But it was shocking that this man Sreenith Rajamani is nowhere there and he had even cheated the organizers. He said to them that Bhama had asked only 1 lakh as remuneration and he received 50 thousand from them to give her advance. But she got only 15 thousand. When she realized that this man had cheated both her and the organizers, she realized the seriousness of the situation and had done the inauguration properly as well.

Bhama said that the other reports spreading are not true and she also warned other celebrities to beware people like Sreenjith Rajamani. She is going to take legal action against him and also said that she is not a person who loves money more than the support and love gave to her by the people here.

Popular Malayalam actress Bhama got in tor trouble as her car was blocked people when she try to avoid and go away from an inauguration stating the problem of remuneration. The incident happened at Muvattupuzha, when she came for the inauguration of a new textile showroom. Heavy crowd was already came there when they heard that actress Bhama is coming to inaugurate the textile showroom. But when shew came there she did not even get ready to come out of the car as there was a dispute between her and the organizers regarding her remuneration.

Organizers said that they had offered her 1 lakh rupees for Inauguration and gave her 50000 thousand as advance. But when she came there she demanded 2.5 lakhs as her remuneration and wanted 2 lakh on that day. They tried to discuss it with her and even the Muncipal Chairperson Usha Sasidharan had come to talk with her.

But she did not agreed to them even though they got ready to give 1.5 lakh on that day. Later she tried to leave from the scene without inaugurating, the people gathered her blocked her car and things become rather messy out there. Then at last she came out of the car and went there for inauguration even though the event was inaugurated by Muncipal Chairperson Usha Sasidharan by that time.

Sources close to the actress says that the one who booked her for the inauguration had agreed to give 2.5 lakhs as per her demand. After giving 50 thousand advance, he had agreed to give the remaining 2 lakh to her at the venue. But he later disappeared without telling this to the organizers. The owner of the shop does not aware of this deal and he is informed by that man who booked Bhama that she needs only 1 lakh to come there and inaugurate the textile shop.

Malayalam film lovers woke up today hearing a shocking news from our industry. The news is that, Ajay Krishnan, the producer of upcoming Malayalam film Avarude Ravukal committed suicide due to some financial problems. The film is directed by Shanil Muhammad who was one among the directorial duo who had directed Philips and Monkey Pen.

Unni Mukundan and Asif Ali playing the lead roles in this film and from the date of its announcement, film lovers are waiting for this film with lots of expectation. Honey Rose, Mukesh, Lena, Vinay Fort etc also playing key roles in this movie which said to be a romantic comedy.

The shooting was going on in a smooth pace while this unfortunate incident happened. His dead body will be taken to Kollam district Hospital from Kollam Upasana Hospital for conducting postmortem. He was 29 years old and not married.

Even though financial problem is said to be the reason for his suicide, it is not sure whether any other reason also played the cause behind this rash decision by him. Anyway there is no information regarding what will happen to this project which is already filmed for a number of days.

His latest release Theri had already crossed 100 crore mark from worldwide gross collection and it became Vijay’s 3rd film to do so in box office. Now Vijay become the only South Indian actor to have three 100 crore movies in his career. His other 100 crore collected movies are Kaththi and Thuppakki, both directed by AR Murugadoss.

Theri has been written and directed by Atlee. Now the film is all set to surpass the records set by Rajni Kanth films like Sivaji and Enthiran and also the record set by Vikram’s film I. It is in Canada box office that this film is creating record.

Till Thursday this film had raked in an amount of 329084 dollars from Canada box office and all set to become the highest grossing Kollywood film in Canada if it goes like this way. The first three spots were occupied by Sivaji, Enthiran and I respectively by collecting figures like 499831 Dollars, 472412 dollars and 455709 dollars from there. Now, Theri stands at fourth position and the response there at Canada may help the film to surpass the above mentioned figures got by Sivaji, Enthiran and I.

Theri had earned close to 60 crores from domestic box office and grossed more than 40 crores from overseas as well. Even though film is dropped down in domestic areas, the international circuits still reporting great figures.
