Mammootty to team up with Ranjith this year

A glad news is coming for the fans of Mammootty and film lovers of Kerala, which says that Mammootty is all set to team up with master director Renjith again. Ranjith had confirmed it saying that he will do a film with Mammootty in the lead this year itself even though he had not finalized the subject for this upcoming Mammootty film.

Earlier Mammootty-Ranjith team had given us some great films like Paleri Manickyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Kadha, Pranjiyettan and the Saint etc. They had associated for the 2013 film Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty, which was sadly a box office disaster. Ranjith said that his upcoming film with Mammootty will be very different from his earlier films with him. No other details about this project is not available right and we will update it you all once it is available.

Ranjith’s latest release was Leela, scripted by Unni R. It had Biju Menon played the lead role in it and getting good reviews from all over. The film had landed in controversy regarding certain issues with producers association. But after release it is again making news for all the wrong reasons.

The film had released through online as well along with its theatrical release. But the pirated print had out within days.

On this coming Thursday, another young director will make his debut in Mollywood as the film Vallem Thetti Pulleem Thetti will release on that day. Debutant Rishi Sivakumar is written and directed this movie. The film starred by Kunchacko Boban and Shyamili is on its way giving us great hopes. At first, the title itself gave us a feel that something very different is coming.

Then, came the posters of the film, which was also unique in its designs. Later the trailer of the movie has released and that had raised the anticipation level as it got great response from film lovers. The film at first came to the news when the team announced that Shyamili, who once popular here as Baby Shyamili, is making her debut as heroine here through this movie. Everyone was really eager to see her as a female lead in Malayalam cinema.

Kunchacko Boban, who was her sister Shalini’s pair in her debut movie as heroine, is interestingly playing Shyamili’s pair as well in her debut. Kunjuni S Kumar cranked the camera for this flick, which is said to be set in the background of 1990’s.

Faisal Latheef Had produced the movie under his banner of Achappu Movie Release and artists like Manoj K Jayan, Renji Panicker, Suresh Krishna, Krishna Shankar, Saiju Kuruppu, Aneesh G Menon, Mia George etc playing important characters in the flick.

Janata Garage is now one of the most awaited films in South Indian film industry. The exciting star cast is the main reason for that anticipation. The film which is filming now is planning to release on August 12 and as per reports, the team behind the film aims at the 100 crore club of Tollywood. This film Janata Garage is a production venture from Mythri Movie Makers and they are planning to release the first look poster of the film on May 20, on the birthday of Jr NTR. His last film Nanku Prematho is a super success at box office, which raked in more than 50 crore rupees.

Artists like Samantha, Nithya Menon, Sai Kumar, Rahman, Unni Mukundan, Devayani, Brahmaji, Kannada actress Sivani etc playing important characters in this movie along with Mohanlal and Jr NTR. The team behind the film is very much confident about the success of the film and they hope that this will make its mark in the 100 crore club of Tollywood.

Theri, the Vijay starrer flick is doing very good in box office and the collection from overseas market is giving the film a definite edge over other big releases. The film had crossed the prestigious 100 crore mark in its first week itself and from overseas market it had raked in an amount close to 40 crore.

The domestic market as usual contributed big with an amount around 60 crores. Now, as per the latest collection report that is coming in, the film had grossed around 130 crore rupees in its 12 days of run worldwide.

The film is doing great in foreign countries like US, Canada, UK, Australia etc and it had already created some new collection records there for Tamil Cinema. It had earned close to 3.5 crores in UK and 2 crores in Australia. It had got better collection than many Bollywood films got this year in overseas market and that shows how well people accepted this commercial potboiler.

It is indeed a definitely a great comeback from Vijay after being criticized a lot for the disaster Puli, which released last year. Now, he has become the only south Indian actor with 3 100 crore collected movies in his kitty. Super Star Rajinikanth don’t have 3 films in that club and it shows the star power of Vijay.

Two days before, Mollywood woke up hearing the unfortunate incident of the suicide of Ajay Krishnan who was the producer of Avarude Ravukal. The film is directed by Shanil Muhammed who earlier directed the super hit film Philips and The Monkey Pen along with Rojin Thomas. Avarude Ravukal is his first independent venture as a director and the film has Unni Mukundan and Asif Ali playing the lead role in it.

But when the producer Ajay Krishnan had committed suicide, lots of cooked up stories began to spread through Media and one such report said that Ajay Krishnan had committed suicide after watching the preview of the film. But Shanil Muhammed, the director of this film said that these reports are absolutely fake.

The media reported that, after watching the preview of this film, Ajay Krishnan felt that the film is going to be a disaster at box office. He already was in financial crisis and felt that this film will ruin him. For that reason he had committed suicide. Shanil Muhammed says that the editing of the film is going on and other post-production works are not even started. Then, how one can see the preview of this film ?. He says that he had a great relationship with Ajay Krishnan and he was such a great producer who never bothered the technicians and those who worked in the film.

King Liar joins 15 crore club from 23 days

Dileep has done it again as his another film joins the 15 crore club of Mollywood. His latest release named King Liar, which released on April 2nd had made 15.2 crore from Kerala alone from its 23 days of theater run. It still has fair number of screens here. Even though the collection has dropped, the holidays getting very good numbers for the film.

Even the night shows still getting good number of family audience and the film is expected to gross near 18-20 crore from Kerala alone if it holds on to half of the screens which it had now. From Ernakulam Multiplexes, the film had grossed more than 1 crore rupees.

This is Dileep’s second consecutive film which is entering the 15 crore club of Mollywood. His last release Two Countries by Shafi also done it as it had got a final gross around 36 crores from Kerala and 55 crores from worldwide.

King Liar got all the attention as it was scripted by Siddique-Lal team and directed by Lal. They had done a film together after 22 years and that itself was the selling point along with the popularity of Dileep. Madonna Sebastian had played the female lead in this film and her popularity which she got through Premam also helped the film to fare good in box office. The flick had received mixed reviews from the audience and critics.

Madhavan to replace Dulquer in the Charlie Tamil remake ?

The Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Charlie had already started as per reports and the news is coming in that popular actor Madhavan to replace Dulquar Salman in the Tamil version. Dulquer Salmaan had played the title character of this film in its original Malayalam version and won the state award for best actor. The film is directed by Martin Prakkat and written by Unni R along with the director. The flick had completed 100 days in Kerala and got a super success at box office along with 8 state film awards.

The Tamil remake rights of the film is bought by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa and they are remaking it in to Tamil under the banner of Pramod films. As per reports the shooting had started by canning a temple festival scene in Tamil Nadu for the climax part of the film.

In Malayalam version, the famous Thrissur Pooram has been canned for the climax of the film. The makers rae not yet announced the star cast of the film and everybody is waiting for an official announcement regarding the Madhavan news that is spreading through social media circles. Madhavan had recently appreciated Dulquer Salmaan and the team behind the film after watching it. He is also said to be doing an extended cameo in Dulquer Salaamn-Prtap Pothen movie in Malayalam which is all set to start in the coming July.

The demand for Malayalam films is now increasing in Kollywood and the fans for stars like Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salmaan is increasing there day by day. Malayalam films getting great collection from there and the remake rights for Malayalam film is getting big as well.

Actor Jayasurya is certainly going through the best time of his career as he is getting lots of great films. He is getting great recognitions and at the same time success as well. Now the actor is on cloud nine after signing two movies on the same day and those e biggies as well. One film is with none other than writer-director Siddique and the other he signed on the same day is with another master writer/director Lal. Jayasurya explains that it is a great honor and a dream come true for him to play the lead in the films of both Siddique and Lal.

Siddique-Lal duo had made films together for years and all of them were super successes. Later the split up and continued to make film independently and earn their names as independent director. Later, after 22 years they had joined together for a film named King Liar which released this month and that too become a super hit. For that film they had done the screenplay together. Now, they again doing independent movies and strangely both had casted Jayasurya as their male lead.

In Siddique film Jayasurya will play a kleptomaniac who believes that he had no luck at all in his life. He tend to steal others think even if he had no use with it. It is a sort of behavior pattern. He returns the stolen things to the people from he had steal it later. He is an engineering drop out as well due to this behavior problem. But lady luck shines in his life at one stage and the film revolves around this character. This film will start rolling from this coming September. The other details about the cast and crew of the film will be updated once it is decided.

Lal film is not decided a confirmed date to start rolling and the pre-production is surely in progress. Jayasurya will have films like Pretham, Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum and Madhupal film etc to complete before joining these films by Siddique and Lal. He is currently doing IDI with Sajid Yahiya.

Prithviraj starrer film Darwinte Parinamam directed by Jijo Antony was released in March 18 this year and now the film had almost completed its run at main centers in Kerala. The film had opened well at box office but got mixed reviews and mostly negative ones. The film is produced by August films owned by Prithviraj.

Prithviraj was having a golden Run at Box office from Ennu Ninte Moideen last year with 4 super hits in a row. Those were Ennu Ninte Moideen, Amar Akbar Anthony, Anarkkali and Pavada. But Darwinte Parinamam which expected to be his 5th super hit had ended up as an average grosser in box office. The final collection report of the film from Kerala shows that it had raked in an amount around 8.05 crore rupees.

There may be a little change in the final figure due to some technical reasons. But it is sure that the total gross from Kerala will not exceed the mark of 8.5 crore maximum. The film had lost the plot when releases like Kali starring Dulquar Salman, King Lira starring Dileep and Jacobinte Swargarajyam starring Dileep had come after its release.

Chemban Vinod had played the title character of Darwin in this movie and Chandni Sreedharan had played the female lead opposite Prithviraj. The film did not do much good at worldwide box office as well and the total figure said to be around 10 crore as well. But it will be confirmed and updated later once we gets the actual figures related to its worldwide collection.
