Siddharth applauds Pinarayi Vijayan government’s decision to distribute free food kits

As the second save of pandemic has caused a steep surge in the number of cases, State governments across the country have enforced strict restrictions. States like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have called for a complete lockdown. In Kerala, the lockdown started yesterday (May ? and will last till May 16. To ensure that no one is affected during this period, the government has announced that it will be providing free food kits to families and migrant labourers in the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted,

Nobody will go hungry during the lockdown. Next week onwards free food kits will be distributed for all families and guest workers. Food will be delivered to the needy from People’s Restaurants and Community Kitchens through Local Self Government Institutions.

The government’s decision to provide free food kits is being unanimously praised. Actor Siddharth, one of the most vocal persons in the Twitter space, has applauded the decision by sharing Pinarayi’s tweet. Recently also, when the LDF government won the Assembly elections, Siddharth had congratulated Pinarayi who led from the front.

Simbu starrer ‘Maanaadu’ is currently in the post-production phase. The star along with the film’s producer Suresh Kamatchi recently got to watch the film and were highly impressed by it. The latter took to his Twitter handle to share a series of tweets heaping praise on the core team members. Venkat Prabhu, who has been on a lean patch, seems to have made a strong comeback with this film. The producer also mentioned the performances of SK Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan and YG Mahendran.

‘Maanaadu’ is planned as a pan-Indian film with release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Though the film was initially thought to be a regular political thriller, the teaser revealed that it has an intriguing time-travel concept in it.

Director Abrid Shine’s martial arts film ‘The Kung Fu Master’ is getting dubbed and released in Hindi. Its trailer has been released online. ‘Poomaram’ fame Neeta Pillai, Scaria and Sanoop Dinesh play the major roles. The cast also includes Sooraj S Kurup, Anju Balachandran, Sonet Jose, Ramamoorthy, Rajan Varghese, Vinod Mathew, Hareesh Babu, Jayesh K, Rangith PB and James J.

‘The Kung Fu Master’ is an out and out martial arts action film set in thd Himalayas. The plot evolves as the lives of two martial arts instructors are upended when they become the targets of a gang, who decide to assassinate the brother and sister duo.

Abrid Shine made the film after being inspired by the action films of Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee. All the actors had undergone intense training for months before shoot. Authentic martial arts action is the film’s USP and the film has plenty of it.

The Hindi version is set to be telecast in Rishtey Cineplex on May 9 at 1 PM.

In her 4-year-long career, Nimisha Sajayan has successfully established herself as a strong performer who is capable of pulling off meaty roles. She is choosy about her projects and has mostly hand-picked roles that offer her scope for performance. Nimisha made her debut with the National-award winning ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, in which she got to share screen space with Fahadh Faasil, another remarkable performer. The two are acting together once again in ‘Malik’, which is awaiting release.

In a recent interview with Mathrubhumi, Nimisha revealed about how Fahadh used to motivate her to do better. She opened up about how Fahadh influenced her a lot right from her debut film itself. While acting in ‘Malik’, she found it very difficult to play the character well and it was Fahadh who used to motivate her. He would insist on taking more takes and was ready to do a scene multiple times to improve her performance.

In ‘Malik’, Fahadh Faasil plays the lead character of Sulaiman Malik and Nimisha is reportedly essaying his wife’s role. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, it is a semi-period film that spans multiple timelines. Vinay Forrt, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan, Jalaja and many others are part of the film.

Tamil actor Dhanush has one of the most promising line up of projects in Indian cinema. Besides a handful of films in Tamil and one in Hindi, he is also acting in a Netflix original English film. He is currently in the US shooting for ‘The Gray Man’, in which he is sharing screen space with Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. The film is being helmed by ‘Avengers’ directors Russo Brothers.

After his return, Dhanush is expected to resume shoot for Karthick Naren’s thriller film, which is tentatively titled as ‘D 43’. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead. The makers have already completed the first schedule of shoot.

Dhanush’s next after that, ‘D 44’ will be helmed by Mithran Jawahar. The actor-director duo have previously worked together in ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, ‘Kutty’ and ‘Uttama Puhthiran’. Sun Pictures is producing the film, which makes the reunion of Dhanush and Anirudh after a long gap.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is also making a return to Bollywood with ‘Atrangi Re’, directed by Anand L Rai, who launched him there with ‘Raanjhanaa’. The new film also stars Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan in key roles. Shoot got wrapped up a couple of months back.

Dhanush has committed for two projects with his brother Selvaraghavan. The duo’s immediate next is ‘Naane Varuven’, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations. The film will have cinematography by Arvind Krishna and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The same combo of Dhanush, Selvaraghavan, Arvind Krishna and Yuvan Shankar Raja had earlier worked together in films like ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, ‘Kadhal Kodein’ and ‘Pudhupettai’. So expectations are on the higher side for ‘Naane Varuven’. After this, the brothers will be joining hands for the ambitious ‘Aayirathil Oruvan 2’, which is planned as a 2024 release

Besides this, Dhanush has also committed for projects with ‘Ratchasan’ fame Ram Kumar and ‘Karnan’ director Mari Selvaraj. His next release will be ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film is set for streaming in Netflix from June 18.

Rima Kallingal in Stunt Silva’s directorial debut

We had earlier reported about stunt choreographer Silva turning a filmmaker. His maiden film has Sai Pallavi’s sister Pooja Kannan making her acting debut. Director AL Vijay is scripting the film, which is yet to be titled. Latest to join the cast is Malayalam actress Rima Kallingal.

Rima will be making her comeback to Tamil cinema after a gap of 10 long years. She had made her Tamil debut back in 2011 with ‘Yuvan Yuvathi’, a rom-com which also starred Bharath. In Stunt Silva’s debut film, Samuthirakani and ‘Thiruda Thirudi’ director Subramaniam Siva will also be seen in important roles.

Silva is a renowned stunt choreographer who has worked in several superstar films. While one would normally expect his directorial debut to be an action film, it is learnt to be a feel-good entertainer. The film’s shoot has already been completed and the dubbing work is currently in progress. Release plans are not yet known.

Nayattu to start streaming on Netflix from tonight

We had earlier reported about the makers of Martin Prakkat’s ‘Nayattu’ bagging a deal with streaming giant Netflix. It has been announced that the film will be available on the platform from tonight, 12 AM IST. The film starring Kunchacko Boban, Nimisha Sajayan and Joju George as the leads had its theatrical release on April 8. Upon release, it was lapped up by critics with many rating it as a hard-hitting and thought-provoking film.

‘Nayattu’ is scripted by Shahi Kabir, who had earlier penned ‘Joseph’. The film presents a disturbing picture of how dalits are exploited and cops get victimized in a corrupt system. It is centred around three cops who are on a run after accidentally getting involved in a crime.

The performances of all the three lead actors — Kunchacko Boban, Nimisha Sajayan and Joju George — garnered equal appreciation. The film has cinematography by Shyju Khalid and edits handled jointly by Mahesh Narayanan and Rajesh Rajendran. Veteran filmmaker Ranjith and PM Sasidharan together produced the film under the banners of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company and Martin Prakkat Films.

Suresh Gopi Celebrates Wife Radhika’s Birthday

Suresh Gopi, who unsuccessfully contested in the recently concluded assembly elections, is expected to resume works on his pending projects soon. He was shooting for Joshiy’s ‘Paappan’ when the second wave of pandemic worsened and works had to be stopped. The film has him playing a stylish character named Abraham Mathew Mathan. His son Gokul Suresh is also acting in the film. It is the first time the father-son duo will be acting together.

Suresh Gopi also has ‘Ottakomban’, a high-voltage mass entertainer coming up. It is to be directed by debutant Mathew Thomas and produced by Tomichan Mulakkupadam. The film has been planned to be made on a budget of around Rs 25 crores.

Suresh Gopi’s next release will be ‘Kaduva’, which got delayed multiple times due to the pandemic.

A new Malayalam film titled ‘Aquarium’ is getting ready to premiere on May 14 on Saina Play OTT. The film directed by T Deepesh was originally made in 2014 but got tangled in censor issues. The film then titled as ‘Pithavum Puthranum’ was not allowed for public exhibition. The reason stated by the CBFC was that the subject was likely to hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community.

The film is set in a convent in a scenic high range. Two of the inmates, Sister Elsitta and Sister Jaseentha, perceive Jesus Christ in two ideological extremes. The abrasion of fantasy and reality augments the contention between them. Honey Rose and Rajshri Ponnappa play the two lead roles. The cast also includes Sunny Wayne and V K Prakash.

‘Aquarium’ is produced by Shaji Kannambeth under the banner of Kannambeth Productions.

The OTT release of his films are the main reason behind his nationwide popularity. Amazon Prime Video, one of the major streaming platforms today, have come up with a compilation video featuring him. It has scenes from some of his best films available in Prime.

The 6.53-minute long video has scenes from ‘Trance’, ‘Joji’ ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, ‘Red Wine’, ‘Immanuel and ‘C U Soon’. It must be noted that Fahadh’s last few films were released directly on OTTs. While ‘Joji’ and ‘C U Soon’ premiered on Amazon Prime Video, ‘Irul’ came out directly on Netflix.

Fahadh was last seen shooting for ‘Pushpa’, in which he shares screen space with Allu Arjun. The Sukumar directorial marks Fahadh’s debut in Telugu. In Malayalam, he has ‘Malayankunj’ directed by Sajimon coming up. The star’s next release will be the much-anticipated ‘Malik’.
