Nayattu enters second successful week of theatrical run

‘Nayattu’ has successfully entered its second week of theatrical run. It is getting largely positive reviews with most rating it as a hard-hitting and thought-provoking work. Directed by Martin Prakkat, ‘Nayattu’ presents a disturbing picture of how dalits are exploited and cops get victimized in a corrupt system.

Shahi Kabir, who made his screenwriting debut with ‘Joseph’, has penned this film. The fact that he was a policeman in real life comes in handy in this film, which is centred around three cops who are on a run. Kunchacko Boban, Nimisha Sajayan and Joju George play the lead roles. The performances of all the three actors have been equally praised.

‘Nayattu’ has cinematography by Shyju Khalid, music composed by Vishnu Vijay and edits handled by Mahesh Narayanan and Rajesh Rajendran. Veteran filmmaker Ranjith and PM Sasidharan have jointly produced the film under the banners of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company and Martin Prakkat Films.

Vinninazhake Kanninithale: Shankar Mahadevan-Deepak Dev combo deliver a lovely romantic song for Djibouti

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam movie ‘Djibouti’ have released the first single online. Titled as ‘Vinninazhake Kanninithale’, it is a romantic song featuring the lead pair, Amit Chakalakkal and Shagun Jaswal. Veteran Shanker Mahadevan has sung this soulful track along with Bindhu Anirudh. Deepak Dev has composed the song and lyrics is penner by Kaithaprom Dhamodharn Namoothiri.

‘Djibouti’ is directed by SJ Sinu. The film is set entirely in Djibouti, a country in East Africa. The director himself has penned the story and he has also written the screenplay along with Afsal Abdul Latheef. From the recently released trailer, the film looks like an action packed entertainer

During the film’s shoot last year, the cast and crew members got struck in East Africa for few weeks due to the pandemic-induced travel restrictions. Jacob Gregory, Shagun Jaswal, Dileesh Pothan and Anjali Nair are part of the cast. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by TD Sreenivas and music by Deepak Dev. Samjith Mohammed is handling the edits. The film is produced by Jobi P Sam.

‘Chathur Mukham’ starring Manju Warrier and Sunny Wayne got released in Gulf region last day. The film is out in major centres in Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Ummal Quwain, Fujairah and Oman. The positive response that the film garnered back home is expected to prove beneficial during its overseas run.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is directed by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V. Anil Kumar and Abhaya Kumar have jointly penned the script. It is a horror thriller that’s very unlike what we are usually used to seeing in Malayalam cinema. It is a techno-horror thriller, a first of its kind attempt in Malayalam. The film tries to achieve the concept of solving something that’s beyond science using science.

While Manju and Sunny essay the lead roles, the film also has actors like Alencier Ley Lopez, Sharanjith, Niranjana Anoop, Kalabhavan Prajod, Shyamaprasad, Shrikanth Murali, Navas Vallikunnu and Shaju Sreedhar in important roles. As praised by many, the film has sound technical values. Abinandan Ramanujam is the cinematographer. Dawn Vincent has handled the music department as well as sound design. It is jointly produced by Jiss Thomas and Justin Thomas under the banner of Jiss Toms Movies

Suresh Gopi’s long-awaited film ‘Kaaval’ is expected to hit screens soon. Last day, on the occasion of Vishu, the makers shared the first look poster. Nithin Renji Panicker of ‘Kasaba’ fame is directing the film. It has high expectations as Suresh Gopi is making his comeback to mass genre after a long gap. The teaser and location stills released so far have also been highly promising. Though the film got delayed by nearly a year due to the pandemic, the hype is still intact.

The makers have assured that ‘Kaaval’ has all the elements that Suresh Gopi fans would love to see in his mass films. He plays a character named Thamban. The film has him in two get ups — one aged between 55-60 and the other as his younger self. ‘Kaaval’ is basically an action-packed family drama, the story of which is set in the high ranges of Idukki.

Along with Suresh Gopi, Renji Panicker will also be seen in a full-length character named Antony. The cast also includes Zaya David, Alencier Ley Lopez, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh among others.

Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing the film. An announcement regarding the release date is likely to be made soon.

Last day, on the occasion of Vishu, the makers had released a poster featuring all the main actors in the film. Official: Shankar and Ranveer Singh team up for Anniyan Hindi remake

Recently, there were speculations about Tamil filmmaker Shankar teaming up with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh for the remake of the blockbuster film ‘Anniyan’. What was initially shrugged off as baseless rumours have now turned out to be true. The official announcement was made last day through social medias. Jayantilal Gada is producing the film, which is scheduled to go on floors by mid 2022.

Director Shankar has tweeted,

In this moment, no one will be happier than me, bringing back the larger than life cinematic experience with Ranveer Singh in the official adaptation of cult blockbuster Anniyan.

The star has now made his debut in Tamil playback singing with his new film ‘Hey Sinamika’. Directed by popular dance choreographer Brinda, the film is touted to be a rom-com that also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Aarattu teaser is action-packed with loads of mass moments!

Today, on the auspicious occasion of Vishu, the teaser of superstar Mohanlal’s new film ‘Aarattu’ got released online. This 54-second long teaser is action-packed with loads of moments. It has hero elevation shots reminiscent of those seen in Telugu mass masala films. In a stylish bearded look, Mohanlal appears fit and handsome. His trademark ‘mundu madakki kuthu’ is also shown in the teaser, which is certain to send the fans into a frenzy. The kick-ass background score composed by Rahul Raj will also soon be a fan favorite.

‘Aarattu’ directed by B Unnikrishnan has Mohanlal playing a larger-than-life character named Neyyattinkara Gopan. Udhayakrishna has scripted the film as a mass-masala entertainer set in a rural backdrop. As confirmed by the makers, it is a proper entertainer film with action, comedy, songs and all essential commercial ingredients in it.

Popular South Indian actress Shraddha Srinath plays the female lead in the film. Music maestro AR Rahman will be making a cameo appearance in a song sequence. The elaborate supporting cast also includes actors like Siddique, Sai Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Indrans, Lukman, ‘KGF’ fame Garuda Ram, Vijayaraghavan, Swasika, Rachana Narayanankutty and Sheela.

The first single from Unni Mukundan’s new film ‘Meppadiyaan’ was released recently. Titled ‘Kannil Munnil’, it is a lovely track that features montage shots of the daily lives including various characters in the film. Karthik and Nithya Mammen have lent their vocals for the song. Lyrics is penned by Joe Paul and composed by Rahul Subramanian. The song has already become a favorite of many with over 8 lakh views in YouTube.

‘Meppadiyaan’ is written and directed by newcomer Vishnu Mohan. From the promos, the film looks like a complete family entertainer. Unni plays a character named Jayakrishnan in the film. Anju Kurian plays his romantic interest.

There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nisha Sarang, Aparna Janardhanan, Kundara Johny, Major Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, Kottayam Ramesh and Pauly Valsan.

In the technical side, Neil D’Cunha handles the camera and music is by Rahul Subramanian. Shameer Muhammad is editing the film. It is produced by Unni Mukundan under his own banner of UMF.

Drishya 2: Kannada remake of Drishyam 2 announced

Mohanlal’s hugely successful ‘Drishyam 2’ is getting remade in multiple languages. While the Telugu version starring Venkatesh as the lead has already begun, the Kannada version has just been announced. Earlier, ‘Drishyam’ was also remade in Kannada as ‘Drishya’. The same team is now reuniting for the second part. P Vasu is directing the film and V Ravichandran will be playing the lead role. It is worth a mention that P Vasu has also remade some other Malayalam films like ‘Bharatham’, ‘Mancithrathazhu’, ‘Katha Parayumbol’, ‘Thoovalsparsham in various languages.

Upon its release in Amazon Prime Video, ‘Drishyam 2’ turned out to be a big hit. The film directed by Jeethu Joseph had Mohanlal, Meena, Asha Sarath, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil reprising their roles from the first part. Thanks to a direct OTT release, several non-Malayali audience have already watched the film. So it will be interesting to see if the remake versions will have alternate climaxes. E4 Entertainment is producing the Kannada version.
