Operation Java deserves a big applause: Sunny Wayne

‘Operation Java’ continues to excel thanks to the highly positive word of mouth. Apart from the critics and commoners, even industry insiders are also heaping praise on the film. Directors like Ajai Vasudev Jofin T Chacko, Mamas, Dijo Jose Antony, Prasobh Vijayan and many others written highly about the film. Actor Sunny Wayne recently took to his social media handle to congratulate the team and added that the film deserves a big applause.

Written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy, ‘Operation Java’ is an investigative film about cyber crimes. The film has an elaborate cast that includes Balu Varghese, Lukman, Vinayakan, Irshad, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Vineetha Koshy, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander. Despite the presence of no big stars as leads, the film is doing well at the box office.

‘Operation Java’ has music by Jakes Bejoy and edits by Nishadh Yusuf. Cinematography is by Faiz Siddik, who has also wielded the camera for the upcoming films ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’, ‘The Wolf’ and ‘Adi’.

After the good run in Kerala, ‘Operation Java’ is releasing in Gulf region from today (February 18). The film is releasing in in 44 locations across GCC. The positive response garnered during its release in Kerala, is expected to help the film in its overseas run as well.

Yaazha Yaazha: First song from Vijay Sethupathi-Shruti Haasan starrer Laabam out

The makers of upcoming Tamil film ‘Laabam’ have released the first single online. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Hassan as the leads, it is by directed by National award winning filmmaker SP Jhananathan. The song titled ‘Yaazha Yaazha’ is composed by D Imaan and sung by Shruti Haasan. Yugabharathi has penned the lyrics.

SP Jhananathan is well known for his films like ‘Iyarkai’, ‘E’, ‘Purampokku’ and ‘Peranmai’. Like his earlier films, ‘Laabam’ is also said to be a socially relevant one that discusses about the plight of the farmers in the country today.

Vijay Sethupathi plays a character named Pakkiri, who is the leader of the farmers association. Shruti Haasan essays a character named Sriranjani, a singer who travels to different places to educate people. Jagapathi Babu plays the the antagonist’s role. ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan, Sai Dhansika and Daniel are also there in prominent roles.

On the technical front, D Imman is handling the music department and the film has cinematography is by Ramji. ‘Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren’ director Arumugakumar and Vijay Sethupathi are jointly producing the film.

Empuraan is expected to go on floors by mid-2022: Murali Gopy

As we already know, the blockbuster Mohanlal starrer ‘Lucifer’ is getting a second part titled as ‘Empuraan’. The project got announced right after the success of ‘Lucifer’ and ever since then, expectations have been on the rise. While it was slated to go on floors sometime this year, the Covid-19 pandemic spoilt their plans. In a recent interview, script writer Murali Gopy revealed that they are planning to start shooting by mid-2022. He also confirmed that the film will be mounted on a bigger scale than ‘Lucifer’.

‘Empuraan’ will have Mohanlal returning as Stephen Nedumbally aka Khureshi Ab’raam. Prithviraj will be wearing the director’s hat once again. He will also be reprising his role of Zayed Masood from the first part. Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran are expected to be part of this film as well. Since all the actors have multiple projects lined up, it remains to be seen how they work out the dates.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under the banner of Aashiravd Cinemas.

After opening to excellent response in Kerala, ‘Operation Java’ is all set for release in Gulf region from today (February 18). The film is releasing in a good number of screens in UAE, Oman and Qatar. Thanks to the positive word of mouth back home, it is expected to do well in the overseas centres as well.

‘Operation Java’ written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy is an investigative film about cyber crimes. Despite the presence of no big stars to headline, the film has done well at the box office which once again proves the fact that content is always the king.

Dulquer Salmaan pens an adorable note on Vismaya Mohanlal becoming a poet!

Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya recently turned an author with her maiden poetry book, ‘Grains of Stardust’. The book published by Penguin Random House India is a collection of poems and paintings. It hit the stands on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

Dulquer Salmaan, who has been close to Vismaya from childhood, has penned an adorable note in his social media handle recollecting old memories of her and wishing her luck for the book. He has written,

My oldest fondest memory of Maya (Vismaya Mohanlal) is of her first birthday at the Taj Coramandel in Chennai. It was a huge party that her parents threw for her and she wore the most adorable gold outfit and was the cutest one year old we had seen. As the night wore on the birthday girl was missing. Her mum then informed us that she fell asleep. I’ll always remember that as the biggest party where the birthday girl fell asleep early.

Now all grown up she’s carving her own path. At such a young age she’s a published writer and her poems, thoughts, doodles and art are way ahead of her years. They give you a wonderful insight into her mind, her growing up and her life experiences. I’ve attached one of my favourites from the book.

Here’s Prithviraj and Unni Mukundan from the sets of Bhramam

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Unni Mukundan are acting together for the first time in ‘Bhramam’, directed by Ravi K Chandran. The film which is the remake of acclaimed Hindi film, ‘Andhadhun’ also stars Mamta Mohandas and Raashi Khanna. The makers have shared Prithviraj and Unni Mukundan’s looks in the film. While Prithviraj plays the lead role essayed by Ayushmann Khuranna in the original, Unni Mukundan reprises the cop character played by Manav Vij.

‘Andhadhun’ was a huge commercial hit that also won a couple of National awards. It remains to be seen if the makers of ‘Bhramam’ can repeat the success. The film is scripted by Sarath Balan. Shankar, Jagadeesh, Sudheer Karamana, Surabhi Lakshmi, Ananya and many others are part of the film’s supporting cast.

On the technical front, director Ravi K Chandran himself is handling the camera and Jakes Bejoy has been signed as the music director. Veteran Sreekar Prasad is the editor. Shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Kochi.

Ayalaan: First single composed by AR Rahman out on Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday

Birthday wishes are raining in for Sivakarthikeyan who turns 36 today. As a birthday special, the makers of his new film ‘Ayalaan’ have released the first single online. Titled as ‘Vera Level Sago’, it is a mass number composed by AR Rahman. The maestro himself has sung the track, which has lyrics by Vivek.

‘Ayalaan’ is directed by Ravikumar Rajendran of ‘Indru Netru Naalai’ fame. Just like his previous film, this one is also a sci-fi thriller. Rakul Preet Singh plays the female lead. Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar is making her comeback to Tamil industry with this film. She has previously acted in films like ‘Nenjinile’, ‘En Swasa Kaatre’, ‘Jodi’ and ‘Narasimha’.

Sharad Kelkar, Bhanupriya, Yogi Babu, Bala Saravanan and Karunakaran are also part of the cast of ‘Ayalaan’. The film has AR Rahman handling the music department. It is the first time he is composing for Sivakarthikeyan starrer, so expectations are on the higher side. Cinematography is by Nirav Shah and editing is done by Ruben.

Vaidy Somasundaram is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Gopi Sunder. Ichais Productions is backing the film.

Director Vinayan’s big-budget period film ‘Pathonpathaam Noottandu’ is currently on the floor. Lead actor Sijy Wilson joined the sets recently. He plays the role of Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, a brave Ezhava chieftain who lived in the 19th century. Debutante Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead. Last day, the makers released a new poster featuring the two lead actors. Both of them are seen riding horses and look like real warriors. Siju had trained hard for the film by developing a bulky physique besides training in horse riding and Kalaripayattu.

He lead several struggles for women including the ‘Mookuthi Samaram’ – a protest led for the Ezhava women, who were denied the right to wear nose studs.

As ‘Drishyam 2’ gets ready for its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 19, the makers have released the first single online. Titled as ‘Ore Pakal’, the song is sung by Zonobia Safar and composed by Anil Johnson. Vinayak Sasikumar has penned the lyrics. The song follows Georgekutty and family as they still carry the guilt of the crime they committed.

Expectations are high on ‘Drishyam 2’ as the Malayali audience are eager to know if the family gets caught. Mohanlal, Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Aneesh Menon, Siddique and Asha Sarath reprise their roles from the first part. Ganesh Kumar, Krishna, Dinesh Prabhakar, Anjali Nair are some of the new additions to the supporting cast.

The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, music director Anil Johnson, editor Vinayakan, costume designer Linda Jeethu and art director Rajeev Kovilakam. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
