Check out this new dialogue promo from Drishyam 2

‘Drishyam 2’ is getting ready for its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 19. With just days left for release, the makers have shared a new dialogue promo video. We get to know that the lead character Georgekutty is a theatre owner now and is also planning to produce a film now. Even then, the family is not yet out of trouble as the investigation regarding Varun murder case is still continuing. Murali Gopy, who seems to be playing a high rank police officer, heads the investigation now.

Expectations are high on ‘Drishyam 2’ as is evident from the extraordinary response for the trailer. After the massive success of the first part, Malayali audience across all age groups are eagerly looking forward to the second part.

Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, Ganesh Kumar, Krishna, Dinesh Prabhakar, Anjali Nair and many others are part of the cast. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Satheesh Kurup, music director Anil Johnson, editor Vinayakan, art director Rajeev Kovilakam and costume designer Linda Jeethu. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

The trailer of Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Bombay Begums’ has just been released online. Pooja Bhatt, Shahana Goswami, Amruta Subhash, Plabita Borthakur and Aadhya Anand play the lead roles in it. The series revolves around these five women belonging to different strata of society, who all want different things in life. The series is written and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, who is known for her films like ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Dolly, Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare’.

The official synopsis of ‘Bombay Begums’ reads,

“Five women, five different worlds, five different perspectives. Meet the five Begums who find themselves racing and facing obstacles threatening to pull them down. Watch each unique personality fight against her roadblocks and emerge victorious.”

Pooja Bhatt, who is making a comeback of sort plays a businesswoman in the series. Amruta Subhash essays the role of a bar dancer whie Shahana plays an ambitious corporate employee. From the trailer, it is evident that the series is about the various struggles faced by women in their daily lives, as they are tied down by societal norms and patriarchy.

‘Bombay Begums’ also stars Danish Husain, Rahul Bose, Imaad Shah and Nauheed Cyrusi. It is scheduled for premiere on March 8.

Suresh Gopi and Joshiy reunite for Paappan!

Ace filmmaker Joshiy is reuniting with Suresh Gopi for a new film titled ‘Paappan’. The cast also includes Sunny Wayne, Nyla Usha, Neeta Pillai and Gokul Suresh Gopi. From the title poster itself, it is evident that the film will be a high voltage mass entertainer. The actor-director of Suresh Gopi and Joshiy duo are best known for their mass films like ‘Lelam’ and ‘Vazhunnor’. They last worked together in ‘Salaam Kashmier’, in which the star did an extended cameo role.

‘Paappan’ is written by RJ Shaan, who had earlier co-scripted ‘C/O Saira Banu’. He had also recently directed the hit short film ‘Freedom at Midnight’. Cinematographer Ajay David Kachappilly, music director Jakes Bejoy and editor Shyam Sasidharan, who were all part of Joshiy’s last ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’, have been retained for ‘Paappan’.

The film is produced by David Kachappilly productions. Agosh Cinemas and Chand V Movies will be distributing it.

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the makers of ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ had released the first single online. Titled as ‘Rendu Kaadhal’, it is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Anirudh, Shakthisree Gopalan and Aishwarya Suresh Bindra have lent their vocals for the song. It is a melody packed with the feels that hits hard and leaves one yearning for more. Vignesh Shivan has penned the lyrics.

‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ is Anirudh’s 25th film as a music director. He has collaborated with Vignesh Shivan multiple times in the past and most of their songs have turned out to be chart busters. So the composer is sure to come up with yet another quality album.

‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ has Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha playing the major roles. Expectations are high on the film thanks to the star-studded lead cast who are all coming together for the first time. Vignesh Shivan is directing this film, which promises to be a rom-com entertainer.

Veteran Lal and his son Lal Jr aka Jean Paul Lal are together directing a film for the first time. Titled as ‘Tsunami’, the film stars Aju Varghese, Balu Varghese, Mukesh, Innocent and many others. As the film gears up for theatrical release, the makers have shared the first single online. Yakzan Gary Pereira and Neha S Nair have composed the song with lyrics penned by Lal. Neha has also lent her vocals along with Keshav Vinod.

‘Tsunami’ scripted by Lal is said to be based on a true story. The makers have promised that the film will be full on fun and laughter with no stress or tension. The film’s shoot started last February but got stalled halfway due to the pandemic. After waiting for nearly three months, the team decided to resume shoot. It was also the first Malayalam film to resume shoot during the lockdown. They shot the remaining portions with minimal crew adhering to all protocols laid down by the government and managed to wrap up in quick time.

‘Tsunami’ has Alex J Pulickal as the cinematographer and Ratheesh Raj as the editor. Neha and Yakzan Gary Pereira composes the music. Allan Antony is presenting the film under the banner of Panda Dad Production.

‘Madhuram’ is director Ahammed Khabeer’s second film after making an impressive debut with the rom-com ‘June’. Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, Nikhila Vimal and Shruthi Ramachandran play the lead roles in it. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the makers have released a romantic teaser featuring Joju and Shruthi.

‘Madhuram’ has its story by director Ahammed. It is scripted by Ashiq Aimar and Fahim Safar. Though the makers are yet to reveal any details, it looks like a feel-good romantic flick. Indrans, Jaffer Idukki, Fahim Safar, Malavika and Babu Jose will be seen in supporting roles.

Jithin Stanislaus is the cinematographer and music is by Hesham Abdul Wahab. Mahesh Bhuvanend is editing the film. Sound designer Dhanush Nayanar, sound mixer Vishnu Sujathan, makeup artist Ronex Xavier, costume designer Sameera Saneesh and art director Dileep Nath are also part of the technical crew.

Joju George is producing the film along with Sijo Vadakkan under the banner of Appu Pappu Pathu Production House.

‘Operation Java’, written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy, is an investigative film based on cyber crimes. The film is inspired from several real-life incidents. It focusses on how the Kerala Police’s cyber department functions and the various cases they encounter.

Balu Varghese, Vinayakan, Lukman, Irshad, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Vineetha Koshy, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander are part of the film’s cast. It has edits by Nishadh Yusuf and cinematography by Faiz Siddik. V Cinemas International is producing the film.

‘Karnan’ is a rural-based film that is partly inspired from real life incidents. The film has Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead. It is her debut outing in Tamil and the actress is highly excited about it. The supporting cast also includes Lal, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Azhagar Perumal, Natty aka Natarajan Subramanian, ’96’ fame Gouri Kishan and Yogi Babu.

Post-production works are currently on in full swing as the film is scheduled for theatrical release on April 9. Recently, music director Santhosh Narayanan had tweeted that he was left stunned after watching ‘Karnan’. Mammootty and Prithviraj announced a new Malayalam film titled ‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’ through their social media handles last day. Debutant Afsal Abdul Latheef will be directing the film. It is scripted by Dinoy Paulose, who was the co-writer of the blockbuster film ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’.

‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’ stars Sharafudheen, Dinoy, Naslen, Grace Antony and Ranjitha Menon in the lead roles. The makers have released an interesting title poster, from which we can make out that it is a family drama revolving around Pathrose and family comprising of his wife, three sons and a daughter. Sharafudheen plays the eldest son’s character named Sony Pathrose. Dinoy plays the second one named Tony and Naslen will be seen as the youngest one named Bony.

‘Pathrosinte Padappukal’ will have cinematography by Jayesh Mohan and music by Jakes Bejoy. Announcing the project through his Facebook page, the composer mentioned that it is a fun script that he really enjoyed reading. Marikar Entertainments is producing the film.

Ottu: Kunchacko Boban and Arvind Swamy team up for a bilingual film

Kunchacko Boban and Arvind Swamy are coming together for the first time for a Tamil-Malayalam film. The Malayalam version has reportedly been titled as ‘Ottu’. ‘Theevandi’ fame TP Fellini is directing the film and it is penned by S Sajeevan. The film is produced by August Cinema headed by Arya and Shaji Nadesan. The makers are planning to start shooting later this month. Goa, Mumbai and Mangalore have been finalized as the major locations.

‘Ottu’ is Arvind Swamy’s third film in Malayalam after ‘Daddy’ and ‘Devaraagam’. His comeback film is said to be a thriller. Since it is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, actors from both the languages are expected to be part of the film. Talented young composer AH Kaashif, who is the nephew of maestro AR Rahman, has been signed as the music director. It is his second Malayalam film after making his debut with ‘Pathinettam Padi’, also produced by August Cinemas.
